Shemini

The parashah this Shabbat is called Shemini, which means eighth. It is from Leviticus 9:1- 11:47 and in it, the first verse begins, "It was on the eighth day." Now, we all know that the eighth day is also the first day of the week, and so it is appropriate that Aaron was consecrated on this day. You see, for seven days, only Moses, the Father of the Faith, performed all of the required duties in the Tabernacle. On the eighth day, he consecrated Aaron and from that time forward, only Aaron or one of his sons, all called Kohanim or Priests, would minister to the L-rd. In like manner, it was on the first day of the week that Y'shua rose from the grave to become our High Priest forever. Until that time, the Heavenly Father performed all that was required, but now, we who are spiritual descendents of the Great High Priest, heirs and joint heirs with Him; now we minister to Him and through Him, to all of those around us. According to chapter 9 verses 22-24, having finished the first day's sacrificial service, Aaron raised his hands and blessed all of the people; then he and Moses did the same and the glory of the L-rd appeared to the entire people. When the power of the Father is united with the outstretched hands of His Anointed One, the Glory of G-d appears. The Hebrew word for "anointed one" is Moshiach, which is translated as Messiah. A very interesting note is that this parasha contains the exact half-way point in the Torah. In the beginning of 0:16, we read, Moses inquired insistently and it is this that is the very center of the entire Torah. written in Hebrew. This should indicate that we too should inquire insistently as we read the Holy Word of G-d. We must not just read through the Bible in a year, but we must seek insistently what the L-rd is telling us at every reading.
Chapter 11 deals with the instructions of kashrut, what is clean for food and what is not. G-d is clear in His instruction that by doing as He instructs in this matter, we are elevated in the way of holiness. People often ask me about this issue. "Are Gentile Christians obligated to keep "kosher?" My answer is that all Christians are obligated to be obedient to the commandments of G-d. Will eating a ham sandwich or a shrimp cocktail separate you from G-d? no, His grace is sufficient to cover all of our sins. Is it sin to eat what G-d says not to eat? Y'shua instructed His closest friends, "If you love Me, you will do My commandments. "But this is Old Testament Law" and we are not under the Law, but under grace!" often answers the questioner. "What about the vision that Peter had when G-d told him to eat of every un-kosher animal known to man?" they continue. You are right, we are not under the authority of the Law; but under obligation to live by the grace of G-d. Paul wrote, "Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? G-d forbid!" For is we are bond servants to Messiah, then we are obligated to do as He instructs. And I believe that the Son and the Father are One; whatever is required by the Father is likewise required by the Son. The difference in the Torah in ancient times and the Torah today is that under the Torah, the penalty of sin is death. Now, under grace, the penalty of sin is death, but Y'shua has already died to pay this price. Baruch HaShem!!! (Praise the L-rd). But beloved, should this give us license to sin?
What about the sheet from heaven? Read the rest of the text. It is clear to Peter that the vision was to indicate that he could go to the home of the Gentile who had sent for him. Later, it reminded him and he told about it in Jerusalem to validate his claim that these Gentiles had received the Holy Spirit, just like "we" did. I bless G-d for the vision of the sheet filled with every kind of unclean food. Without it, you would probably not be a part of the Family of the Faithful, but it in no way made invalid G-d's instruction regarding that which is holy and that which is profane. Should you refrain from eating these foods? According to every health expert in the world, eating any of the forbidden foods will reduce your life span and bring nothing healthy into your body. Carol and I are trying to do whatever it takes to maintain our lives and to live in health, so we mostly eat as G-d instructed and He blesses us according to His promise to do so. Do we slip up sometimes? Of course! His grace is sufficient and we can count on that! But do not ignore the cautionary word of Proverbs 28:9. In Hebrew, it says, "If a person will not listen to Torah, even his prayer is an abomination." Keep praying Marty

Shemini: A Summary of the Parashah

After the dedication of the Tabernacle and the ordination of the priests, two of Aaron's sons bring a strange fire before God and are consumed by fire; God then instructs Moses and Aaron regarding which animals may be eaten. By Nancy ReubenThe following article is reprinted with permission from Jewish Family & Life!
The Lord had just commanded Moses to tell Aaron and his sons about the different offerings and specific rituals to be given in the Tent of Appointed Meeting. Aaron and his sons were required to remain at the entrance of the Tent of Appointed Meeting for seven days and nights.
On the eighth day, Moses summoned Aaron and his sons and the elders of Israel. Moses told Aaron to gather specific animal and grain offerings and bring them before the Lord.
They brought the offerings to the front of the Tent of Appointed Meeting. The entire community came forward and stood before the Lord. Moses said, "This is what the Lord has commanded that you do so that the glory of God will reveal itself to you." Then Moses said to Aaron, "As the Lord commands, come forward to the altar and
sacrifice your sin offering and your burnt offering. Then sacrifice the people's offering for their atonement." Aaron sacrificed the animals, then lifted his hands toward the people and blessed them. Then Aaron and Moses went inside the Tent of Appointed Meeting. When they came out again, they blessed the people, and the glory of God revealed itself to all the people. Fire went forth from before God and consumed the burnt offering and the fat parts on the altar. And all the people saw, and shouted for joy, and fell on their faces. Now Aaron's sons Nadab and Abihu each took his fire pan, put fire into it and placed incense upon it. Then they brought before God strange fire that God had not enjoined upon them. Then fire went forth from before God and consumed them and they died before God. Moses said to Aaron, "This is what God said, 'I will be sanctified through those who are nearest Me, thus I will be honored before the entire peoples.'" Aaron was silent.
They carried Aaron's sons from the Sanctuary to outside the camp. Moses said to Aaron, "Don't show your mourning, lest God become angry with the entire community. But know well that your brethren, the entire House of Israel, shall bewail the burning that God has kindled. Do not leave this place in the Sanctuary, for God's anointing oil is upon you."
Then God spoke to Aaron, saying, "Drink no intoxicating wine when you or your sons enter the Tent of Appointed Meeting so that you may not die. This is a law for all time throughout your generations to distinguish between the sacred and the profane, the contaminated and the pure."
The Laws of Kashrut
Then Moses told Aaron's remaining sons to make an offering to God. Afterwards, God spoke to Moses and to Aaron, telling them to state the following to the Israelite people:
These are the creatures that
you may eat from among all the land animals: any animal that has true hooves, with clefts through the hoofs, and that chews the cud, you may eat. The following animals who either chew the cud or have true hooves, you shall not eat: the camel, the rabbit, the hare, and the pig. You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their carcasses. They are unclean to you. From the waters, seas and rivers, you may eat all creatures except what does not have fins and scales. They are an abomination to you. You shall not eat of their flesh.
And these you shall hold in abomination from among the fowl; they shall not be eaten: the eagle, the vulture, the kite, falcons and ravens of every variety, the ostrich, the sea gull, any variety of hawk and owls, the pelican, the stork, herons of every variety, the hoopoe and the bat.
All winged swarming things that go upon four legs are an abomination to you. Only those insects that have above their feet, jointed legs to leap with on the ground may you eat, such as locusts, crickets and grasshoppers of every variety. All other winged swarming things that have four legs shall be an abomination to you. All animals that walk on paws, among those that walk on fours, are unclean for you. Also unclean are those living things that creep on the earth, such as the mole, the mouse, lizards, crocodiles, and chameleons. Whoever touches anything unclean, whether directly, by cloth or by container, they shall remain unclean until evening. Then they shall be clean. And every thing that creeps upon the earth, it is an abomination and shall not be eaten. Whatever goes upon the belly, upon four legs or many legs, all creeping things are an abomination. You shall not make yourselves unclean by eating these things. For I the Lord am your God: you shall sanctify yourselves and be holy, for I am holy. For I, the Lord God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt to be your God, you shall be holy for I am holy.
Mission Updates:

Greetings, It appears to some that they think my mission bus is broken down, no it was not the mission bus that is broken it is the van I drive to the Wichita mission, the van is used to pick up ministry supplies and also give rides to people when I do not use the large mini-bus, it also it my personal vehicle as I can only afford one.I do not think most people understand that I have pledged my life and all I have in the service of our Lord Yeshua, what is my personal income over half, well over half goes towards paying for the building. my personal income is lower than any poverty level. We live in a house that was bought for back taxes, I paid about $1,400 total if I remember right about 18 years ago. But this house allows me to pay for the building in Wichita. So not we have no back up funds or credit lines, the ministry is all by faith, all, for this our 11 years we drive back and forth a 120 round trip miles to Wichita to do the work HE told me to do. We have never had a new car, truck, etc just vehicle generally bought for under $1,000 and then we put loads of miles on them for the LORD YESHUA. So the van going out is a major thing as we have to be able in the cheapest way possible to get to Wichita and back.
Driving the bus back and forth would really be well, stupid as to the wear a tear on it etc.
The van the whole rear end came loose from the leaf springs and side back, much is torn up….so it is time to replace, all I am asking is that you pray about it and help if you can…..

Feasts of the Lord

"The L-rd's appointed times, which you shall proclaim as holy convocations--
My appointed times are these:" (Leviticus 23:2)

"My appointed times are these." So says the Lord in the 23rd chapter of Leviticus, about the seven annual festivals now commonly called the "Jewish holidays" or the "Feasts of Israel." Actually, this cycle of festivals that mark the Jewish calendar are as much for the Church as for Israel, and can best be understood by those who are redeemed by Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ). Why, then, don't we know anything about them? Why have these feasts been shuffled out of our lives? Good questions! To make a very complicated history simple, this is what happened. During the time from the second to the fourth centuries, the demographics of the Church changed. What was once a sect of Judaism had become a predominantly Gentile culture. Particularly during the reign of Constantine, the Church suffered grave revisions in doctrine and in practice. In an effort to make Christianity a distinct religion, the Early Church leaders removed all Jewish customs and practices from the worship of the G-d of Israel. In effect, they laid an ax to the root of the tree to which the wild branches had been grafted. (Read Romans 9, 10, & 11.)
Psalm 89:15 in the Amplified Bible states: "How blessed---happy, fortunate (to be envied)--are the people who know the joyful sound (who understand the spiritual blessings symbolized by the Feasts); they walk, O Lord, in the light and the favor of Your countenance." Yet, for 1600 years, the Church has not heard the joyful sound of the shofar, nor the singing at the Feast of Passover; they have not celebrated with meals under the canopy of the Sukkah, nor danced in celebration of the giving of the Holy Scripture. Each of the seven annual Feasts of the Lord is rich with meaning and with the revelation of the character of G-d, and with signs of the coming Messiah.
Yeshua died on Passover; He was in the ground at the beginning of Unleavened Bread, and He rose on the Feast of FirstFruits. (Read John 12) He is our perfect Passover sacrifice; He is the Unleavened Bread that came forth from the earth; and He is the FirstFruits of the resurrection.
Fifty days after the Sabbath of Passover is the Feast of Weeks (or Pentecost). In Acts 2, we have an account, not of the Feast of Pentecost, but rather of that year's celebration of this ancient Biblical custom. Those who were gathered in a room in one accord were doing so to commemorate the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai,   just as it had been observed for some 1500 years by that time. When Moses returned from the Mount, 3000 were slain because of sin; when the Ruach HaKodesh (the Holy Spirit) came upon those in Jerusalem, Peter preached for about ten minutes, and 3000 were saved. The letter of the Law brings death, but the freedom of the Spirit brings life! It is important to note that only those who were celebrating the Law, received the Spirit.
Then comes Summertime, when there are no feasts. It is a time to labor in the fields, and to work while it is light. Interestingly, Leviticus 23 inserts instruction to leave gleanings for the poor at this point in its explanation of the Feasts. The last month of Summer is the month of Elul. During this entire month expectancy builds with the single blast of the shofar each day, in anticipation of  the coming Feasts of the Messiah in the Fall.
Finally, on the first day of the seventh month is the Feast of Trumpets, when the shofar (ram's horn trumpet) is blown 100 times. This signals the laborers to cease from their work and to enter a time of repentance and of reconciliation. After ten days of awe, comes Yom Kippor (the Day of Atonement), when the holiest man in Israel enters the holiest place in Israel and pronounces the holy Name of G-d, and only with the blood of a perfect sacrifice. Finally, five days after that comes the Feast of Tabernacles, when we remember living in the very presence of G-d for forty years by dwelling in booths for eight days. It is this final Feast that the prophet Zechariah foretells of in chapters 12 through 14. We will all go up year after year, and celebrate this final Feast with Messiah when He returns.

Two Calendars Make One Year
Or...How 7+7=12

The Jewish Calendar is based upon a Lunar Month. Each month, therefore begins with the new moon, and lasts for 30 days. The Rabbi's determined that 7 times in 19 years, they must add an additional month of 20 days, similar to our leap year adjustment made every four years. Think of a year, not as a flat timeline, but as a continuum. The religious calendar begins in Nissan, the season of Passover. It ends, with the seventh month, Tishrei. The Civil Calendar begins with Tishrei, and ends, seven months later, with Nissan. So, the two calendars overlap in their beginning and their ending months. 7+7(-2)=12!

I need right at 160 to pay them. dad has the funds for the newsletter it will go out today. I just got 200.00 for food so that will restock the pasta's and veggies plus get meat for a few weeks. Tha April bills have been rolling in and right now I need about 800. to get them paid. I'm working on my page for the newsletter and we really need to be getting down the road to go feed. We have to pick up someone today so I guess I will close and get finished with that so we can get going. Pray for us and pray about helping us to do these works. Love you all sisterlinda!
