A Cry from the Heart
Fear is not a rational thing. Even when the mind knows perfectly well that there is absolutely no danger, sinister shadows strike fear into the heart. As the Jewish people emerging from Egypt saw Pharaoh and his army in pursuit, what should have been their logical reaction? They had seen the ten plagues demonstrate the utter powerlessness of the Egyptians to withstand the will of Hashem. They had been liberated from centuries of bondage without lifting a finger in their own defense. What danger then did this pursuing army pose? Clearly, there was none. And yet, the Jewish people were terrified. As the fearsome Egyptian chariots surged towards them, they may have understood intellectually that Hashem would render their enemies harmless before they could inflict any damage. But they could not stop themselves from being overcome by a terrible fear. They cried out to Hashem in desperation, and they maligned Moses for having taken them out of Egypt to perish violently beside the sea. Beleaguered, Moses tried to reassure the panicked people. "Do not be afraid," he called out to them. "Stand by and watch Hashem save you. Never again shall you have to see these Egyptians.". Just then, Hashem said the Moses, "Why do you cry out to me? Tell the people to get under way." The question immediately arises: If Moses was trying to reassure the terrified Jewish people that they were about to witness the climax of the Egyptian downfall, why did he himself cry out to Hashem? Hadn't his reassurances come from a profound inner conviction? Moreover, observe the commentators, we only learn that Moses cried out because Hashem reproved him for it. Why is there no explicit mention in the Torah of Moses crying out to Hashem? The commentators explain that Moses's prayer was not the result of a conscious decision to plead with Hashem. He already knew that the salvation of the Jewish people was assured. Rather, it was a reflex reaction, a spontaneous outburst of supplication in response to the very real distress of the people. Because of his intense love for the Jewish people, Moses could not separate himself from their emotional condition. As the quintessential leader, he felt the anguish of his people, and he responded in kind. For this reason, the Torah makes no mention of Moses standing in prayer, since it was not something he had intended to do. But he did it nonetheless, and Hashem chided him for praying when he should be taking bold action. A man once came to a doctor with a splinter deeply imbedded in his hand. The doctor saw that the hand had become swollen and infected. "Now listen, my good fellow," said the doctor. "This is going to be quite painful, and I need you to sit perfectly still." The man nodded, squeezed his eyes shut, gritted his teeth and began to tap compulsively on the floor with his feet. The doctor laid out his instruments, swabbed the puncture clean and began to dig for the splinter. Suddenly, the doctor jumped back and screamed, "Ouch!" The man's eyes flew open, and his foot tapping came to an immediate halt. "I'm so sorry, doctor," he said. "What did I do? Did I step on your foot? I'm so sorry." "Don't worry about it," said the doctor. "You didn't do anything at all. When I pulled out the splinter, I knew how much pain it was causing you, and I could stop myself from crying out."In our own lives, we very often see the anguish of others, be they family, friends, acquaintances or even people in the news, and our first tendency is to be judgmental. If these tortured souls were responsible for their own anguish through negligence or foolishness, we may sometimes shut them out of our minds and say, "They brought it on themselves. They should have known better." Indeed. But the Torah expects a higher degree of sensitivity. The Torah expects us to empathize with people in distress under all circumstances, to feel their pain, to be inspired to help them out of their predicaments. For in Hashem's eyes, all people deserve to be helped.

Mission Updates:
Greetings, We have very hard ministry with many odds against us, you see we minister unto the poor and the sinners as we are called to do. Most people will not do what we do and in the light do not want to fund work to help them either, for most see homeless as throw away people. But we keep on and on because as I said I was called and sent forth to do the work we do. So many people tire of well doing, meaning they will help for a short while then move on to something else, but we stay the course and seem many wonders of our Lord Yeshua, just as this oil that would not stop dripping from the hallway. You see during the remodel I anointed all the windows and doorways, this hallway or door way from the main room to the Kitchen/children's rooms, kept dripping the anointing oil no matter how many times it was wiped off as it kept dripping on us walking through. Sure I had sprinkled oil there but not near as much as you even see in this picture. When we finally took the board down it was not wet on the other side so it was not coming from something further up and it was olive oil.....I pray you all read mom's update; she said the bills will be okay until I think Feb. 3rd when the new bills arrive, then they double again. The Bus blinkers are now fixed as Scott rewired the column, after all the huge cloud of smoke and excitement that he went through it looks like it was just two wires. I looked at one of the wire and the wire looked very old and broken in some places exposing the bare wire, it could very well be that all the problems and money spent on this to get things fixed had really came from just these two wires, at least we pray so.The other problem we have been having is the heater, meaning that we have never replaced all the old hoses just cut them back and repaired them. I think now Scott has found the last one leaking so this is a praise report please say a prayer for Scott, he is a disabled young man but he helps so much I do not know what I would do without him.Again Friday we had new faces, which shows that things are not getting better in Wichita at least. I can also tell by the amount of donations that has slowed down. I realize just how big a miracle it is to support a ministry such as ours by people who have never seen it by walking in only by hearing or reading about it. This humbles me as only He on most high could arrange such as this.Looking at the calendar I see three expenses coming, which I pray comes in the mail soon next week, one is the mail out newsletter (if it is late forget about donations being much), two we need to fill our freezers meaning we need meat badly, and radio should be paid also next week. These are the things we are praying in.
You see in this our 11 year of the Wichita Mission Church and the 177th monthly mail out newsletter issue, has been the toughest time we have seen. Since October the mission and almost shut twice. So please if you are not a supporter consider a small monthly, weekly, or one time donation. Share our radio programs, emails, and what we do for the homeless and poor with others. Do not think small donations do not count as they do greatly. We serve 1000's of sandwiches a month plus each day a full hot meal! Clothing, blankets, coats, 1000's of large print KJV Bibles (Which I now have only three left, the new people are asking for them) socks (which we need) Hygiene items, counseling, prayers, first aid, welling the list goes on and on……an example of what we do and monthly expenses is on this page http://messiahsbranch.org/donate.htm just scroll down.
Lift us in prayer and help if you are led to, In His Perfect Peace, Pastor Dan Catlin
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
6But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
