God brings the final three plagues on the Egyptians; the Israelites leave Egypt and receive the commandment to observe Passover.
By Nancy Reuben
The Land Was Black With Locusts
God said to Moses, "Go again to the Pharaoh for I have hardened his heart so I may display My signs to the people. It is these signs which will enable you and the generations after you to recognize Me as your God. This is the story parents will pass down to their children and their children's children. I will be known as the God who brought you out of the land of Egypt.""Moses," God continued, "this time tell the Pharaoh that if he doesn't let My people go, I will bring locusts to swarm the land." Moses warned the Pharaoh of the coming locust plague. His staff urged him to let the Hebrews go but Pharaoh would only relent enough to let the men go and not the women and children. Soon God sent so many locusts that the land was black with them. The Pharaoh summoned Moses, "I have sinned against your God and you, Moses. Please forgive me and have your God remove this plague of locusts." Moses asked God to remove the plague and God did, but God also hardened the Pharaoh's heart so that he again refused to let the Jews go free.
The Last Straw
Then came the darkness. For three days the Egyptians were plagued by complete darkness while the area where the Hebrew lived had plenty of light. Pharaoh summoned Moses and said, "Your people may leave but do not take your animals.""No," responded Moses. "We must all go including our livestock.""No!" shouted Pharaoh as God hardened his heart once again. "Moses, get out of here! The next time I see your face, you will die."
"You're right," Moses replied, "I shall never see your face again."
The Plague of The First Born
Later the Lord said to Moses, "My last plague will make the Pharaoh insist you leave. This plague will signal the beginning of months for the Israelites. Tonight at midnight I will go among the Egyptians and kill every first-born. Now no Hebrew first-born shall die if they follow My instructions exactly.
"First, have all the Hebrews ask the Egyptians for their objects of gold and silver. They will give easily to you since they hold you in high esteem. Then, make sure every household has a lamb. These lambs are to be slaughtered as a community and then each family shall return to their home and place some lamb's blood on each side of their doorposts. Then each family shall feast with roasted lamb, unleavened bread and bitter herbs. "This 14th day of the beginning of months will be known as the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It shall celebrated among all the Jewish generations for seven days. No leavened bread may be eaten during this time. On the first night of this Feast of Unleavened Bread, every Jew will remember and retell the story of how God brought the Hebrew slaves out of bondage in Egypt." In the middle of the night, just as God had warned, God killed all the first-born in the land of Egypt. Young and old, rich and poor, human and animal, all the first-borns were killed. Throughout Egypt there was a loud cry for there was no house where someone was not dead.
Remember This Day
Immediately, Pharaoh demanded Moses and the Jews leave Egypt. The Jews hurried from the land, carrying their unleavened dough before it could even rise into bread.
Moses said again God's commandment to the Israelites, "This is the law of the
Passover offering. You must remember this day as a covenant between Me and My people. Remember, this day you were freed from Egypt by God to go to the land of milk and honey. Remember, this day, for all generations and honor Me by not eating any leavened bread." "Remember also," Moses said, "to redeem every first-born, whether animal or child, so that your children will ask, 'what does this mean?' Then you can answer to them, 'It was with a mighty hand that the Lord brought us out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage.'"

Bo

HaShem said to Moses, "Come to Pharaoh..." So begins the Hebrew text of this week's parashah, titled, "Come." Although we usually read, "Go" to Pharaoh," the actual Hebrew is once again, much more interesting and rich. The words tell us something that Christians often miss or ignore. That is, that the G-d of all creation can work through the most evil of men as well as through His chosen servants.

The L-rd told Moses that He was trying to demonstrate Himself to the people of the world by using the most despicable man of history; the man who ordered thousands of babies murdered to demonstrate his godlike power. the opening lesson reveals, His plan with these words: "I have made him and his officials stubborn so I can continue to display my power by performing miraculous signs among them. You will be able to tell wonderful stories to your children and grandchildren about the marvelous things I am doing among the Egyptians to prove that I am the L-rd."

And so, year after year, the story of the Exodus is recounted at Passover. Once again, may I urge you to make plans to attend a Seder this spring. But, I caution you to not go as a spectator. We are instructed by the Rabbis that we are to celebrate this festival as if we had actually been at the Red Sea. This is based upon the very word of HaShem, from Exodus 13:8-10, "On that day tell your son, 'I do this because of what the L-rd did for me when I came out of Egypt.' This observance will be for you like a sign on your hand and a reminder on your forehead that the law of the L-rd is to be on your lips. For the L-rd brought you out of Egypt with his mighty hand. You must keep this ordinance at the appointed time year after year." You see, first, we must realize that the deliverance that G-d gave to our forefathers was for us. Then, we must instill in our children and our grandchildren that it was also for them! This is our task; to teach our children to walk in the way of the L-rd.

Keep praying. Marty

Mission Updates: Acts 14:22

22Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith,

and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

John 16:33

33These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.

In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Greetings, Hmm where do I start? I think with good things, yesterday of course we saw the election results, prayerfully we will see more people elected by a three party vote to help stop the Obama agenda. I am real happy about the blog I created, it really has been fun making it. Let me tell you a few things about it. Of course you can get articles I write here, which I have as of late been writing more, you can find articles of others that I find most important here also. On the side bar first you can find links to the 5 latest radio programs which updates all by it's self Amen. Then scroll down you can find links to our homeless web site and well as our main site. BY THE WAY this in no way replaces the main web site donated to us or could it. Next you can subscribe to RSS feed to know when the page is updated.
Then you can find links to important books or DVDs we think are important.
Important web site links are next, then a very good news tool powered by Google, you will see a group of words with news articles following. Click on the various words and the articles below will change to than subject. After you will see way to join the news list and some green bars with net radio programs listed, these are the top five playing on the net at that time. Come over and check it out! Yesterday we were blessed to be able to help a crowded Mission church full of people! Sadly again we say many new faces as things are getting worse as I said in the last radio program I did about the mission. If you have not here it go to the blog site and listen as I do not know if it is up on the main web site yet.People with standing room only Tuesday going through donated clothing. While the need get's greater, Friday we may be closed due to the electric shut off that have not been paid. Today was the dead line and they are supposed to get cut off after today, mom says that we have no way to pay, there may be after today shut off tomorrow or as far as 5 days away. That means also at our office and storehouse in Florence (separate house and bill from our home) than means also no radio broadcast….We need to pray in some funds today. Some money came and she did pay a huge gas bill that was from the cold temps. So we have gas there…..any donation will help.
Also yesterday Scott, the picture at top holding a burnt wire, came running in the church because the bus wiring had caught on fire. You see the blinkers that was supposed to be fixed shorted out and burnt wires in the column. He said if it was a horse we should shoot it! He is going to try and see what he can do but with wiring it seems one thing after another, the ministry is so dependant on the bus it was a great blow to us. No we do not have money for a shop or another $3,500 to buy another one I told him, so pray for him he is fighting a battle here, one he is not experienced for. I do believe that this year will be better and I am expecting a miracle latter this year or at any time that will fund everything, but we have to get into March I think before we can see any light. Right now we may be shut down because of no electric tomorrow….
Lift us in prayer and help if you can, In His Perfect Peace, Pastor Dan Catlin
