Haftorah 1Kings 2:1-12, Gospel 1Peter 1:3-9

Then Judah went up to him and said, "Please, my lord, let Your servant appeal to my lord, and do not be impatient with your servant, You who are the equal of Pharaoh. My lord asked his servants, 'Have you a father or another brother?' We told my lord, 'We have an old father, and there is a child of his old age, the youngest; his full brother is dead, so that he alone is left of his mother, and his father dotes on him.' Then you said to your servants, 'Bring him down to me, that I may set eyes on him.' We said to my lord, 'The boy cannot leave his father; if he were to leave him, his father would die.' But you said to your servants, 'Unless your youngest brother comes down with you, do not let me see your faces.' When we came back to Your servant my father, we reported my lord's words to him. "Later our father said, 'Go back and procure some food for us.' We answered, 'We cannot go down; only if our youngest brother is with us can we go down, for we may not show our faces to the man unless our youngest brother is with us.' Your servant my father said to us, 'As you know, my wife bore me two sons. But one is gone from me, and I said: Alas, he was torn by a beast! And I have not seen him since. If you take this one from me, too, and he meets with disaster, you will send my white head down to Sheol in sorrow.' "Now, if I come to your servant my father and the boy is not with us--since his own life is so bound up with his..." When he sees that the boy is not with us, he will die, and your servants will send the white head of your servant our father down to Sheol in grief. Now your servant has pledged himself for the boy to my father, saying, 'If I do not bring him back to you, I shall stand guilty before my father forever.' Therefore, please let your servant remain as a slave to my lord instead of the boy, and let the boy go back with his brothers. For how can I go back to my father unless the boy is with me? Let me not be witness to the woe that would overtake my father!" Joseph could no longer control himself before all his attendants, and he cried out, "Have everyone withdraw from me!" So there was no one else about when Joseph made himself known to his brothers. His sobs were so loud that the Egyptians could hear, and so the news reached Pharaoh's palace. Joseph said to his brothers, "I am Joseph. Is my father still well?" But his brothers could not answer him, so dumfounded were they on account of him. Then Joseph said to his brothers, "Come forward to me." And when they came forward, he said, "I am your brother Joseph, he whom you sold into Egypt. Now do not be distressed or reproach Yourselves because you sold me hither; it was to save life that God sent me ahead of you. It is now two years that there has been famine in the land, and there are still five years to come in which there shall be no yield from tilling. God has sent me ahead of you to ensure Your survival on earth, and to save your lives in an extraordinary deliverance.

"Enough!" said Israel. "My son Joseph is still alive! I must go and see him before I die." So Israel set out with all that was his, and he came to Beer-sheba, where he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. God called to Israel in a vision by night: "Jacob! Jacob!" He answered, "Here." And He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Fear not to go down to Egypt, for I will make you there into a great nation. I Myself will go down with you to Egypt, and I Myself will also bring you back; and Joseph's hand shall close your eyes." So Jacob set out from Beer-sheba. The sons of Israel put their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to transport him; and they took along their livestock and the wealth that they had amassed in the land of Canaan. Thus Jacob and all his offspring with him came to Egypt: he brought with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons, his daughters and granddaughters--all his offspring. These are the names of the Israelites, Jacob and his descendants, who came to Egypt. Jacob's first-born Reuben; Reuben's sons: Enoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi. Simeon's sons: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Saul the son of a Canaanite woman. Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. Judah's sons: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah--but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan; and Perez's sons were Hezron and Hamul. Issachar's sons: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron. Zebulun's sons: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel. Those were the sons whom Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan-aram, in addition to his daughter Dinah. Persons in all, male and female: 33. Gad's sons: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli. Asher's sons: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi, and Beriah, and their sister Serah. Beriah's sons: Heber and Malchiel. These were the descendants of Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah. These she bore to Jacob--16 persons. The sons of Jacob's wife Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin. To Joseph were born in the land of Egypt Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-phera priest of On bore to him. Benjamin's sons: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard. These were the descendants of Rachel who were born to Jacob--14 persons in all. Dan's son: Hushim. Naphtali's sons: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem. These were the descendants of Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel. These she bore to Jacob--7 persons in all. All the persons belonging to Jacob who came to Egypt--his own issue, aside from the wives of Jacob's sons--all these persons numbered 66. And Joseph's sons who were born to him in Egypt were two in number. Thus the total of Jacob's household who came to Egypt was seventy persons.

He had sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph, to point the way before him to Goshen. So when they came to the region of Goshen, Joseph ordered his chariot and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel; he presented himself to him and, embracing him around the neck, he wept on his neck a good while. Then Israel said to Joseph, "Now I can die, having seen for myself that you are still alive." Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, "I will go up and tell the news to Pharaoh, and say to him, 'My brothers and my father's household, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me. The men are shepherds; they have always been breeders of livestock, and they have brought with them their flocks and herds and all that is theirs.' So when Pharaoh summons you and asks, 'What is your occupation?' you shall answer, 'Your servants have been breeders of livestock from the start until now, both we and our fathers'--so that you may stay in the region of Goshen. For all shepherds are abhorrent to Egyptians." Then Joseph came and reported to Pharaoh, saying, "My father and my brothers, with their flocks and herds and all that is theirs, have come from the land of Canaan and are now in the region of Goshen." And selecting a few of his brothers, he presented them to Pharaoh. Pharaoh said to his brothers, "What is your occupation?" They answered Pharaoh, "We your servants are shepherds, as were also our fathers. We have come," they told Pharaoh, "to sojourn in this land, for there is no pasture for your servants' flocks, the famine being severe in the land of Canaan. Pray, then, let your servants stay in the region of Goshen." Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "As regards your father and your brothers who have come to you, the land of Egypt is open before you: settle your father and your brothers in the best part of the land; let them stay in the region of Goshen. And if you know any capable men among them, put them in charge of my livestock." Joseph then brought his father Jacob and presented him to Pharaoh; and Jacob greeted Pharaoh. Pharaoh asked Jacob, "How many are the years of your life?" And Jacob answered Pharaoh, "The years of my sojourn [on earth] are one hundred and thirty. Few and hard have been the years of my life, nor do they come up to the life spans of my fathers during their sojourns." Then Jacob bade Pharaoh farewell, and left Pharaoh's presence.

So Joseph settled his father and his brothers, giving them holdings in the choicest part of the land of Egypt, in the region of Rameses, as Pharaoh had commanded. Joseph sustained his father, and his brothers, and all his father's household with bread, down to the little ones. Now there was no bread in all the world, for the famine was very severe; both the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine. Joseph gathered in all the money that was to be found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, as payment for the rations that were being procured, and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh's palace. And when the money gave out in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, "Give us bread, lest we die before your very eyes; for the money is gone!" And Joseph said, "Bring your livestock, and I will sell to you against your livestock, if the money is gone." So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, for the stocks of sheep and cattle, and the asses; thus he provided them with bread that year in exchange for all their livestock. And when that year was ended, they came to him the next year and said to him, "We cannot hide from my lord that, with all the money and animal stocks consigned to my lord, nothing is left at my lord's disposal save our persons and our farmland. Let us not perish before your eyes, both we and our land. Take us and our land in exchange for bread, and we with our land will be serfs to Pharaoh; provide the seed, that we may live and not die, and that the land may not become a waste." So Joseph gained possession of all the farm land of Egypt for Pharaoh, every Egyptian having sold his field because the famine was too much for them; thus the land passed over to Pharaoh. And he removed the population town by town, from one end of Egypt's border to the other. Only the land of the priests he did not take over, for the priests had an allotment from Pharaoh, and they lived off the allotment which Pharaoh had made to them; therefore they did not sell their land. Then Joseph said to the people, "Whereas I have this day acquired you and your land for Pharaoh, here is seed for you to sow the land. And when harvest comes, you shall give one-fifth to Pharaoh, and four-fifths shall be yours as seed for the fields and as food for you and those in your households, and as nourishment for your children." And they said, "You have saved our lives! We are grateful to my lord, and we shall be serfs to Pharaoh." And Joseph made it into a land law in Egypt, which is still valid, that a fifth should be Pharaoh's; only the land of the priests did not become Pharaoh's. Thus Israel settled in the country of Egypt, in the region of Goshen; they acquired holdings in it, and were fertile and increased greatly.

Mission Updates:Messiah's Branch

Couple tired, worn out and very thankful to be in out of the cold!

Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, December 25. 2006 Today we opened up because many had no place to go to get in out of the Weather. Mom outdid herself with fresh cooked brown beans with onions and who knows what spices in them. She of course made the almost perfect cornbread from scratch (no such thing as perfect), which went well with her fried salmon patties! Man it was all wonderful. Of course there were many treats of zingers, donuts, and other sweets on the table. The Local store clerk donated more than a case of milk. It was all very good for those who had no place to go. Heh I have a place and the soul food she served today was fantastic! I was asked by one fellow to take him to this couples home, as he wanted to return some stolen ID of hers. He said that she also wanted prayer and needed me to come over for them. The House was freezing cold. She has many health problems some physical and some mental, one problem is terminal she just does not know how long before it kills her. The couple had no gas in their home. They have electricity but someone they know took off with their electric heater to sell it for drugs. The same person broke in their home and stole much of their food. Mom gave them a food box to go home with and I purchased a very small electric heater for them. Tomorrow the 26th they will go to Red Cross to try and get some help. Please keep them in your prayers. That is their picture at the top.We also were able to take a wheel chair over for a man with only one leg. All and all the people were so thankful that we came over for them today and will be back over tomorrow our regular day.The gas bill was in the box at the Mission when we got there. We have bills that remain unpaid and will be going to shut off because of the low donations this month. I did have a pay pal donation come that will help with gas, but we are in a real bind as all we have in the one ministry van and my son has to drive to school. So we really need your prayers right now. We do have another ministry van; the cost to fix the blown transmission is more than the vans worth I was told by the transmission place. Almost $1,500, the other ministry vehicle has a blown tyranny also, cost to fix it about the same. It is a 4-wheel drive and is a gas hog. The car that my son totaled out avoiding a deer was a 4 cylinder and was so cheap on gas. We used this car a lot.

Radio will also be do in a few weeks so that needs paid. Things were doing pretty good the last few months until we got into the holidays and donations dropped as they do mostly every November through January. So fist and for most pray that the ministry needs are met. Then ask the Lord if you are to be one of his vessels to help support this work. I must get up as bending over in hurting my disks real bad. I should be going in for pain shots in a day or two we pray. A thorn in my side.

May The LORD bless thee and keep thee;
The LORD make His face shine upon thee,
and be gracious unto thee;
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee,
and give thee shalom. (peace)

Shalom in Yeshua our Messiah

Wow what a week ! Friday we gave out the Holiday gifts that Credit Union of America sponsors ever year. The News and the local paper covered the event. We had over 110 people on the list and all but about 25 came and picked up their gifts. I made beef -n-noodles, boiled buttered potato's, fruit salad and buttered rolls for dinner. Lynda made 10 dozen eggs, lunchmeat-n- cheese sandwiches and I set out 30 trays of sweets. I made 150 cups of coffee and many gallons of tea throughout the day.

Friday morning our son Daniel was on his way to the mission when a deer ran out in front of him while going 65 mph. He swerved to miss the deer and when the car hit the shoulder the brakes locked up and it flipped over on the driver's side then skidded across the highway and then back down into the ditch through a fence. Daniel only remembered seeing grass. When he came to a stop he was sitting upright again, when the car went through the fence the rear end hit a tree stump and flipped the car back upright. There was a glass gallon jar in the back seat that had shattered and the lid lay on the seat. Only an Angel could of kept Daniel from coming out without a mark not even a scratch. Needless to say my car was totalled and we will have to fix the farmers fence but we give all the Praise an Glory to Yahweh for having His hand of protection upon our son.

We checked into having the transmission fixed in the mini van and Fishers told us that it would be wiser to just buy another vehicle. He said Mini vans seem to have all sorts of problems and he said it would be a waste of our money to fix the transmission.

Here we are at the beginning of yet another year and time for the newsletter to go out again. Some of the January bills have come in and I still have a few bills to pay for December, all the accounts are low but Yahweh is in Control !

Please pray about your part in helping to carry on in all of these works we are doing for our Father. Keep us in prayer as we seek to follow only His Path and stay in His Word. Thanks to all who support and continue to support these works we need you all to be able to do what we do.

We pray you all a safe and Blessed week we love you all Shalom sisterlinda family & Messiah's Branch Mark 9:23, 10:27

Vayeshev "And He settled " Genesis 37:1 - 40:23

Now Jacob was settled in the land where his father had sojourned, the land of Canaan. This, then, is the line of Jacob: At seventeen years of age, Joseph tended the flocks with his brothers, as a helper to the sons of his father's wives Bilhah and Zilpah. And Joseph brought bad reports of them to their father. Now Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons, for he was the child of his old age; and he had made him an ornamented tunic. And when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of his brothers, they hated him so that they could not speak a friendly word to him.Once Joseph had a dream which he told to his brothers; and they hated him even more. He said to them, "Hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were binding sheaves in the field, when suddenly my sheaf stood up and remained upright; then your sheaves gathered around and bowed low to my sheaf." His brothers answered, "Do you mean to reign over us? Do you mean to rule over us?" And they hated him even more for his talk about his dreams. He dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers, saying, "Look, I have had another dream: And this time, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing, down to me." And when he told it to his father and brothers, his father berated him. "What," he said to him, "is this dream you have dreamed? Are we to come, I and your mother and your brothers, and bow low to you to the ground?" So his brothers were wrought up at him, and his father kept the matter in mind. One time, when his brothers had gone to pasture their father's flock at Shechem, Israel said to Joseph, "Your brothers are pasturing at Shechem. Come, I will send you to them." He answered, "I am ready." And he said to him, "Go and see how your brothers are and how the flocks are faring, and bring me back word." So he sent him from the valley of Hebron. When he reached Shechem, a man came upon him wandering in the fields. The man asked him, "What arc you looking for?" He answered, "I am looking for my brothers. Could you tell me where they are pasturing?" The man said, "They have gone from here, for I heard them say: Let us go to Dothan." So Joseph followed his brothers and found them at Dothan. They saw him from afar, and before he came close to them they conspired to kill him. They said to one another, "Here comes that dreamer! Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits; and we can say, 'A savage beast devoured him.' We shall see what comes of his dreams!" But when Reuben heard it, he tried to save him from them. He said, "Let us not take his life." And Reuben went on, "Shed no blood! Cast him into that pit out in the wilderness, but do not touch him yourselves"--intending to save him from them and restore him to his father. When Joseph came up to his brothers, they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the ornamented tunic that he was wearing, and took him and cast him into the pit. The pit was empty; there was no water in it. Then they sat down to a meal. Looking up, they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, their camels bearing gum, balm, and ladanum to be taken to Egypt. Then Judah said to his brothers, "What do we gain by killing our brother and covering up his blood? Come, let us sell him to the Ishmaelites, but let us not do away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh." His brothers agreed. When Midianite traders passed by, they pulled Joseph up out of the pit. They sold Joseph for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who brought Joseph to Egypt. When Reuben returned to the pit and saw that Joseph was not in the pit, he rent his clothes. Returning to his brothers, he said, "The boy is gone! Now, what am I to do?" Then they took Joseph's tunic, slaughtered a kid, and dipped the tunic in the blood. They had the ornamented tunic taken to their father, and they said, "We found this. Please examine it; is it your son's tunic or not?" He recognized it, and said, "My son's tunic! A savage beast devoured him! Joseph was torn by a beast!" Jacob rent his clothes, put sackcloth on his loins, and observed mourning for his son many days. All his sons and daughters sought to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, saying, "No, I will go down mourning to, my son in Sheol." Thus his father bewailed him. The Midianites, meanwhile, sold him in Egypt to Potiphar, a courtier of Pharaoh and his chief steward.About that time Judah left his brothers and camped near a certain Adullamite whose name was Hirah. There Judah saw the daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was Shua, and he married her and cohabited with her. She conceived and bore a son, and he named him Er. She conceived again and bore a, son, and named him Onan. Once again she bore a son, and named him Shelah; he was at Chezib when she bore him.
Judah got a wife for Er his first-born; her name was Tamar. But Er, Judah's first-born, was displeasing to the LORD, and the LORD took his life. Then Judah said to Onan, "Join with your brother's wife and do your duty by her as a brother-in-law, and provide offspring for your brother." But Onan, knowing that the seed would not count as his, let it go to waste whenever he joined with his brother's wife, so as not to provide offspring for his brother. What he did was displeasing to the LORD, and He took his life also. Then Judah said to his daughter-in-law Tamar, "Stay as a widow in your father's house until my son Shelah grows up"--for he thought, "He too might die like his brothers." So Tamar went to live in her father's house.A long time afterward, Shua's daughter, the wife of Judah, died. When his period of mourning was over, Judah went up to Timnah to his sheepshearers, together with his friend Hirah the Adullamite. And Tamar was told, "Your father-in-law is coming up to Timnah for the sheepshearing." So she took off her widows garb, covered her face with a veil, and, wrapping herself up, sat down at the entrance to Enaim, which is on the road to Timnah; for she saw that Shelah was grown up, yet she had not been given to him as wife. When Judah saw her, he took her for a harlot; for she had covered her face. So he turned aside to her by the road and said, "Here, let me sleep with you"--for he did not know that she was his daughter-in-law. "What," she asked, "will you pay for sleeping with me?" He replied, "I will send a kid from my flock." But she said, "You must leave a pledge until you have sent it." And he said, 'What pledge shall I give you?" She replied, "Your seal and cord, and the staff which you carry." So he gave them to her and slept with her, and she conceived by him. Then she went on her way. She took off her veil and again put on her widow's garb.Judah sent the kid by his friend the Adullamite, to, redeem the pledge from the woman; but he could not find her. He inquired of the people of that town, "Where is the cult prostitute, the one at Enaim, by the road?" But they said, "There has been no prostitute here." So he returned to Judah and said,, "I could not find her; moreover, the townspeople said: There has been no prostitute here." Judah said, "Let her keep them, lest we become a laughingstock. I did send her this kid, but you did not find her." About three months later, Judah was told, "Your daughter-in-law Tamar has played the harlot; in fact, she is with child by harlotry." "Bring her out," said Judah, "and let her be burned." As she was being brought out, she sent this message to her father-in-law, "I am with child by the man to whom these belong." And she added, "Examine these: whose seal and cord and staff are these?" Judah recognized them, and said, "She is more in the right than I, inasmuch as I did not give her to my son Shelah." And he was not intimate with her again. When the time came for her to give birth, there were twins in her womb! While she was in labor, one of them put out, his hand, and the midwife tied a crimson thread on that hand, to signify: This one came out first. But just then he drew back his hand, and out came his brother; and she said, "What a breach you have made for yourself!" So he was named Perez. Afterward his brother came out, on whose hand was the crimson thread; he was named Zerah. When Joseph was taken down to Egypt, a certain Egyptian, Potiphar, a courtier of Pharaoh and his chief steward, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had brought him there. The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he stayed in the house of his Egyptian master. And when his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD lent success to everything he undertook, he took a liking to Joseph. He made him his personal attendant and put him in charge of his household, placing in his hands all that he owned. And from the time that the Egyptian put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed his house for Joseph's sake, so that the blessing of the LORD was upon everything that he owned, in the house and outside. He left all that he had in Joseph's hands and, with him there, he paid attention to nothing save the food that he ate. Now Joseph was well built and handsome. After a time, his master's wife cast her eyes upon Joseph and said, "Lie with me." But he refused. He said to his master's wife, "Look, with me here, my master gives no thought to anything in this house, and all that he owns he has placed in my hands. He wields no more authority in this house than I, and he has withheld nothing from me except yourself, since you are his wife. How then could I do this most wicked thing, and sin before God?" And much as she coaxed Joseph day after day, he did not yield to her request to lie beside her, to be with her.
One such day, he came into the house to do his work. None of the household being there inside, she caught hold of him by his garment and said, "Lie with me!" But he left his garment in her hand and got away and fled outside. When she saw that he had left it in her hand and had fled outside, she called out to her servants and said to them, "Look, he had to bring us a Hebrew to dally with us! This one came to lie with me; but I screamed loud. And when he heard me screaming at the top of my voice, he left his garment with me and got away and fled outside." She kept his garment beside her, until his master came home. Then she told him the same story, saying, "The Hebrew slave whom you brought into our house came to me to dally with me; but when I screamed at the top of my voice, he left his garment with me and fled outside." When his master heard the story that his wife told him, namely, "Thus and so your slave did to me," he was furious. So Joseph's master had him put in prison, where the king's prisoners were confined. But even while he was there in prison, the LORD was with Joseph: He extended kindness to him and disposed the chief jailer favorably toward him. The chief jailer put in Joseph's charge all the prisoners who were in that prison, and he was the one to carry out everything that was done there. The chief jailer did not supervise anything that was in Joseph's charge, because the LORD was with him, and whatever he did the LORD made successful. Some time later, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt gave offense to their lord the king of Egypt. Pharaoh was angry with his two courtiers, the chief cupbearer and the chief baker, and put them in custody, in the house of the chief steward, in the same prison house where Joseph was confined. The chief steward assigned Joseph to them, and he attended them. When they had been in custody for some time, both of them--the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were confined in the prison--dreamed in the same night, each his own dream and each dream with its own meaning. When Joseph came to them in the morning, he saw that they were distraught. He asked Pharaoh's courtiers, who were with him in custody in his master's house, saying, "Why do you appear downcast today?" And they said to him, 'We had dreams, and there is no one to interpret them." So Joseph said to them, "Surely God can interpret! Tell me [your dreams]." Then the chief cupbearer told his dream to Joseph. He said to him, "In my dream, there was a vine in front of me. On the vine were three branches. It had barely budded, when out came its blossoms and its clusters ripened into grapes. Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand." Joseph said to him, "This is its interpretation: The three branches are three days. In three days Pharaoh will pardon you and restore you to your post; you will place Pharaoh's cup in his hand, as was your custom formerly when you were his cupbearer. But think of me when all is well with you again, and do me the kindness of mentioning me to Pharaoh, so as to free me from this place. For in truth, I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews; nor have I done anything here that they should have put me in the dungeon." When the chief baker saw how favorably he had interpreted, he said to Joseph, "In my dream, similarly, there were three openwork baskets on my head. In the uppermost basket were all kinds of food for Pharaoh that a baker prepares; and the birds were eating it out of the basket above my head." Joseph answered, "This is its interpretation: The three baskets are three days. In three days Pharaoh will lift off your head and impale' you upon a pole; and the birds will pick off your flesh." On the third day--his birthday--Pharaoh made a banquet for officials, and he singled out his chief cupbearer and his chief baker among his officials. He restored the chief cupbearer to his cupbearing, and he placed the cup in Pharaoh's hand; but the chief baker he paled-just as Joseph had interpreted to them. Yet the chief cupbearer did not think of Joseph; he forgot him. This Weeks Torah Mikketz "At the end of" Genesis 41:1-44:17
After two years' time, Pharaoh dreamed that he was standing by the Nile, when out of the Nile there came up seven cows, handsome and sturdy, and they grazed in the reed grass. But presently, seven other cows came up from the Nile close behind them, ugly and gaunt, and stood beside the cows on the bank of the Nile; and the ugly gaunt cows ate up the seven handsome sturdy cows. And Pharaoh awoke. He fell asleep and dreamed a second time: Seven ears of grain, solid and healthy, grew on a single stalk. But close behind them sprouted seven ears, thin and scorched by the cast wind. And the thin ears swallowed up the seven solid and full ears. Then Pharaoh awoke: it was a dream! Next morning, his spirit was agitated, and he sent for all the magicians of Egypt, and all its wise men; and Pharaoh told them his dreams, but none could interpret them for Pharaoh. The chief cupbearer then spoke up and said to Pharaoh, "I must make mention today of my offenses. Once Pharaoh was angry with his servants, and placed me in custody in the house of the chief steward, together with the chief baker. We had dreams the same night, he and I, each of us a dream with a meaning of its own. A Hebrew youth was there with us, a servant of the chief steward; and when we told him Our dreams, he interpreted them for us, telling each of the meaning of his dream. And as he interpreted for us, so it came to pass: I was restored to my post, and the other was impaled." Thereupon Pharaoh sent for Joseph, and he was rushed from the dungeon. He had his hair cut and changed his clothes, and he appeared before Pharaoh.
And Pharaoh said to Joseph, "I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it. Now I have heard it said of you that for you to hear a dream is to tell its meaning." Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, "Not I! God will see to Pharaoh's welfare." Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, "In my dream, I was standing on the bank of the Nile, when out of the Nile came up seven sturdy and well-formed cows and grazed in the reed grass. Presently there followed them seven other cows, scrawny, ill-formed, and emaciated--never had I seen their likes for ugliness all the land of Egypt! And the seven lean and ugly cows ate up the first seven cows, the sturdy ones; but when they had consumed them, one could not tell that they had consumed them, for they looked just as bad as before. And I awoke. In my other dream, I saw seven ears of grain, full and healthy, growing on a single stalk; but right behind them sprouted seven ears, shriveled, thin, and scorched by the east wind. And the thin ears swallowed the seven healthy ears. I have told my magicians, but none has an explanation for me." And Joseph said to Pharaoh, "Pharaoh's dreams arc one and the same: God has told Pharaoh what He is about to do. The seven healthy cows are seven years, and the seven healthy ears are seven years it is the same dream. The seven lean and ugly cows that followed are seven years, as are also the seven empty ears scorched by the cast wind; they are seven years of famine. It is just as I have told Pharaoh: God has revealed to Pharaoh what He is about to do. Immediately ahead are seven years of great abundance in all the land of Egypt. After them will come seven years of famine, and all the abundance in the land of Egypt will be forgotten. As the land is ravaged by famine, no trace of the abundance will be left in the land because of the famine thereafter, for it will be very severe. As for Pharaoh having had the same dream twice, it means that the matter has been determined by God, and that God will soon carry it out. "Accordingly, let Pharaoh find a man of discernment and wisdom, and set him over the land of Egypt. And let Pharaoh take steps to appoint overseers over the land, and organize the land of Egypt in the seven years of plenty. Let all the food of these good years that are coming be gathered, and let the grain be collected under Pharaoh's authority as food to be stored in the cities. Let that food be a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which will come upon the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish in the famine."
The plan pleased Pharaoh and all his courtiers. And Pharaoh said to his courtiers, "Could we find another like him, a man in whom is the spirit of God?" So Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Since God has made all this known to you, there is none so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my court, and by your command shall all my people be directed; only with respect to the throne shall I be superior to you." Pharaoh further said to Joseph, "See, I put you in charge of all the land of Egypt." And removing his signet ring from his hand, Pharaoh put it on Joseph's hand; and he had him dressed in robes of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck. He had him ride in the chariot of his second-in-command, and they cried before him, "Abrek!" Thus he placed him over all the land of Egypt. Paraoh said to Joseph, "I am Pharaoh; yet without you, no one shall lift up hand or foot in all the land of Egypt." Pharaoh then gave Joseph the name Zaphenath-paneah; and he gave him for a wife Asenath daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On. Thus Joseph emerged in charge of the land of Egypt. Joseph was thirty years old when he entered the service of Pharaoh king of Egypt.--Leaving Pharaoh's presence, Joseph traveled through all the land of Egypt. During the seven years of plenty, the land produced in abundance. And he gathered all the grain of the seven years that the land of Egypt was enjoying, and stored the grain in the cities; he put in each city the grain of the fields around it. So Joseph collected produce in very large quantity, like the sands of the sea, until he ceased to measure it, for it could not be measured. Before the years of famine came, Joseph became the father of two sons, whom Asenath daughter of Poti-phera, priest of On, bore to him. Joseph named the first-born Manasseh, meaning, "God has made me forget completely my hardship and my parental home." And the second he named Ephraim, meaning, "God has made me fertile in the land of my affliction." The seven years of abundance that the land of Egypt enjoyed came to an end, and the seven years of famine set in, just as Joseph had foretold. There was famine in all lands, but throughout the land of Egypt there was bread. And when all the land of Egypt felt the hunger, the people cried out to Pharaoh for bread; and Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, "Go to Joseph; whatever he tells you, you shall do." Accordingly, when the famine became severe in the land of Egypt, Joseph laid open all that was within, and rationed out grain to the Egyptians. The famine, however, spread over the whole world. So all the world came to Joseph in Egypt to procure rations, for the famine had become severe throughout the world. When Jacob saw that there were food rations to be had in Egypt, he said to his sons, "Why do you keep looking at one another? Now I hear," he went on, "that there are rations to be had in Egypt. Go down and procure rations for us there, that we may live and not die." So ten of Joseph's brothers went down to get grain rations in Egypt; for Jacob did not send Joseph's brother Benjamin with his brothers, since he feared that he might meet with disaster. Thus the sons of Israel were among those who came to procure rations, for the famine extended to the land of Canaan. Now Joseph was the vizier of the land; it was he who dispensed rations to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed low to him, with their faces to the ground. When Joseph saw his brothers, he recognized them; but he acted like a stranger toward then, and spoke harshly to them. He asked them, "Where do you come from?" And they said, "From the land of Canaan, to procure food." For though Joseph recognized his brothers, they did not recognize him. Recalling the dreams that he had dreamed about them, Joseph said to them, "You are spies, you have come to see the land in its nakedness." But they said to him, "No, my lord! Truly, your servants have come to procure food. We are all of us sons of the same man; we are honest men; your servants have never been spies!" And he said to them, "No, you have conic to see the land in its nakedness!" And they replied, "We your servants were twelve brothers, sons of a certain man in the land of Canaan, the youngest, however, is now With our father, and one is no more." But Joseph said to them, "It is just as I have told you: You are spies! By this you shall be put to the test: unless your youngest brother comes here, by Pharaoh, You shall not depart from this place! Let one of you go and bring your brother, While the rest of you remain confined, that your words may be put to the test whether there is truth in you. Else, by Pharaoh, you are nothing but spies!" And he confined them in the guardhouse for three days. On the third day Joseph said to them, "Do this and you shall live, for I am a God-fearing man." If you are honest men, let one of you brothers be held in your place of detention, while the rest of you go and take home rations for your starving households; but you must bring me your youngest brother, that your words may be verified and that you may not die." And they did accordingly. They said to one another, "Alas, We are being punished oil account of our brother, because we looked on at his anguish, yet paid no heed as he pleaded With us. That is why this distress has come upon us." Then Reuben spoke up and said to them, "Did I not tell you, 'Do no wrong to the boy'? But you paid no heed. Now comes the reckoning for his blood." They did not know that Joseph understood, for there was an interpreter between him mid them. He turned away from them and wept. But he came back to them and spoke to them; and he took Simeon from among them and had him bound before their eyes. Then Joseph gave orders to fill their bags with grain, return each one's money to his sack, and give them provisions for the journey; and this was done for them. So they loaded their asses with the rations and departed from there. As one of them was opening his sack to give feed to his ass at the night encampment, he saw his money right there at the mouth of his bag. And he said to his brothers, "My money has been returned! It is here in my bag!" Their hearts sank; and, trembling, they turned to one another, saying, "What is this that God has done to us?" When they came to their father Jacob in the land of Canaan, they told him all that had befallen them, saying, "The man Who is lord of the land spoke harshly to us and accused us of spying on the land. We said to him, 'We are honest men; We have never been spies! There were twelve of us brothers, sons by the same father; but one is no more, and the youngest is now with our father in the land of Canaan.' But the man who is lord of the land said to us, 'By this I shall know that you are honest men: leave one of your brothers with me, and take something for your starving households and be off. And bring your youngest brother to me, that I may know that you are not spies but honest men. I will then restore your brother to you, and you shall be free to move about in the land." As they were emptying their sacks, there, in each one's sack, was his money-bag! When they and their father saw their money-bags, they were dismayed. Their father Jacob said to them, "It is always me that you bereave: Joseph is no more and Simeon is no more, and now you would take away Benjamin. These things always happen to me!" Then Reuben said to his father, "You may kill my two sons if I do not bring him back to you. Put him in my care, and I will return him to you." But he said, "My son must not go down with you, for his brother is dead and he alone is left. If he meets With disaster on the journey you arc taking, you will send my white head down to Sheol in grief." But the famine in the land was severe. And when they they had eaten up the rations which they had brought from Egypt, their father said to them, "Go again and procure some food for us." But Judah said to him, "The man warned us, 'Do not let me see your faces--unless your brother is with you.' If you will let our brother go with us, we will go down and procure food for you; but if you will not let him go, we will not go down, for the man said to us, 'Do not let me see your faces--unless your brother is with you." And Israel said, "Why did you serve me so ill as to tell the man that you had another brother?" They replied, "But the man kept asking about us and our family, saying, 'Is your father still living? Have you another brother?' And we answered him accordingly. How were we to know that he would say, 'Bring your brother here'?" Then Judah said to his father Israel, "Send the boy in my care, and let us be on our way, that We may live and not die--you and we and our children. I myself will be surety for him; you may hold me responsible: if I do not bring him back to you and set him before you, I shall stand guilty before you forever. For we could have been there and back twice if we had not dawdled."Then their father Israel said to them, "If it must be so, do this: take some of the choice products of the land in your baggage, and carry them down as a gift for the man--some balm and tonic honey, gum, ladanurn, pistachio nuts, and almonds. And take with you double the money, carrying back with you the money that was replaced in the mouths of your bags; perhaps it was a mistake. Take your brother too; and go back at once to the man. And may El Shaddai dispose the man to mercy toward you, that he may release to you your other brother, as well as Benjamin. As for me, if I am to be bereaved. I shall be bereaved." So the men took that gift, and they took with them double the money as well as Benjamin. They made their way down to Egypt, where they presented themselves to Joseph. When Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to his house steward, "Take the men into the house; slaughter and prepare an animal, for the men will dine with me at noon." The man did as Joseph said, and he brought the men into Joseph's house But the men were frightened at being brought into Joseph's house. "It must be," they thought, "because of the money replaced in our bags the first time that we have been brought inside, as a pretext to attack us and seize us as slaves, with our pack animals." So they went up to Joseph's house steward and spoke to him at the entrance of the house. "If you please, my lord," they said, "we came down once before to procure food. But when we arrived at the night encampment and opened our bags, there was each one's money in the mouth of his bag, our money in full. So we have brought it back with US. And we have brought down with us other money to procure food. We do not know who put the money in our bags." He replied, "All is well with you; do not be afraid. lour God, the God of your father, must have put treasure in your bags for you. I got your payment." And he brought out Simeon to them. Then the man brought the men into Joseph's house; he gave them water to bathe their feet, and he provided feed for their asses. They laid out their gifts to await Joseph's arrival at noon, for they had heard that they were to dine there. When Joseph came home, they presented to him the gifts that thry had brought with them into the house, bowing low before him to the ground. He greeted them, and he said, "How is your aged father of whom you spoke? Is he still in good health?" They replied, "It is well with your servant our father; he is still in good health." And they bowed and made obeisance.
Looking about, he saw his brother Benjamin, his mother's son, and asked, "Is this your youngest brother of whom you spoke to me?" And he went on, "May God be gracious to you, my boy." With that, Joseph hurried out, for he was overcome with feeling toward his brother and was on the verge of tears; he went into a room and wept there. Then he washed his face, reappeared, and--now in control of himself--gave the order, "Serve the meal." They served him by himself, and them by themselves, and the Egyptians who ate with him by themselves; for the Egyptians could not dine with the Hebrews, since that would be abhorrent to the Egyptians. As they were seated by his direction, from the oldest in the order of his seniority to the youngest in the order of his youth, the men looked at one another in astonishment. Portions were served them from his table; but Benjamin's portion was several times that of anyone else. And they drank their fill with him. Then he instructed his house steward as follows, "Fill the men's bags with food, as much as they can carry, and put each one's money in the mouth of his bag. Put my silver goblet in the mouth of the bag of the youngest one, together with his money for the rations." And he did as Joseph told him. With the first light of morning, the men were sent off with their pack animals. They had just left the city and had not gone far, when Joseph said to his steward, "Up, go after the men! And when you overtake them, say to them, 'Why did you repay good with evil? It is the very one from which my master drinks and which he uses for divination. It was a wicked thing for you to do!'He overtook them and spoke those words to them, and they said to him, "Why does my lord say such things? Far be it from your servants to do anything of the kind! Here we brought back to you from the land of Canaan the money that we found in the mouths of our bags. How then could we have stolen any silver or gold from your master's house! Whichever of your servants it is found with shall die; the rest of us, moreover, shall become slaves to my lord." He replied, "Although what you are proposing is right, only the one with whom it is found shall be my slave; but the rest of you shall go free." So each one hastened to lower his bag to the ground, and each one opened his bag. He searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest; and the goblet turned up in Benjamin's bag. At this they rent their clothes. Each reloaded his pack animal, and they returned to the city. When Judah and his brothers reentered the house of Joseph, who was still there, they threw themselves on the ground before him. Joseph said to them, "What is this deed that you have done? Do you not know that a man like me practices divination?" Judah replied, "What can we say to my lord? How can we plead, how can we prove our innocence? God has uncovered the crime of your servants. Here we are, then, slaves of my lord, the rest of us as much as he in whose possession the goblet was found." But he replied, "Far be it from me to act thus! Only he in whose possession the goblet was found shall be my slave; the rest of you go back in peace to your father."

Mission UpDates: Messiah's Branch Luke 7:22

22Then Yeshua answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

Matthew 28:16 18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Talking about Radio I am going to start this by talking about Radio. Now we cannot tell how many people listen to our programs on live radio. I am sure that there is some way our web master can look at our radio archives on our web site and tell how many hits we are getting there but I do not direct him to do so. What I do watch is our pod-cast page <http://branch.podomatic.com/> . Since November 20th we have had 4,278 programs downloaded from this site. Today is the far busiest day for downloads with 395 programs downloaded just toady and of course the day is not yet spent. Now I am told that these figures are not accurate as there are other ways for the programs to be heard other than downloaded so this figure is less than what is really being heard. I would not know, as I am not that computer savvy. I will deal only with what I do know for sure.

Heard all over the World

I can also look at a google map with these and see where the programs are reaching. Almost a 1000 programs this last month have been heard through China. While people in Canada listens to many so do many other countries in the world. And of course they do here in the USA. Clearly we are warning the World by our radio programs. And this is one of my strong callings by the Lord is to Warn the People out of love and concern for them as the Day of the Lord Draws near.

Changing peoples lives

One of our strongest programs is From Prophet Tom Deckard called " The Last Transition of the Church" This program has been changing people lives. While I get comments from other broadcasts this program I get comments saying that the program changed their lives and they are seeing just where that the world is at in Prophecy and that they should be changing how they think about the Sabbath, the feasts, and really their whole belief systems.

Helping the poor

I have said from the first time I talked with a saint about starting the radio programs over two years ago that it would lead to more support for the ministry we do with the poor. Radio now brings in more donations for the Wichita ministry that the mail out newsletter we have did for 139 monthly issues. We started Pod-casting this last July. That was basically uploading programs to RSS feed and to the pod-cast page. I have people tell me now they listen to our program on their cell phones. The Great thing about a pod-cast is that I do not have to pay radio airtime. I can record a program and just upload it to the net, which is the media of now! Yes CDs are great and we are getting those out also. People have CD players in their vehicles and they can listen to our programs on the way to work. But I am speaking of Pod-cast right now. So while I was writing this 3 more programs were downloaded so now today the total so far is 398. So what does this mean to the poor? The more people who hear our radio programs the more people hear about our work with the Homeless and poor. This means more support for them! All that have met us or followed our ministry, speakers such as Prophet Tom Deckard, Stan of the Prophecy Club, Henry Guver, well that list goes on have vouched for know that wed are not about building for ourselves a Kingdom on earth but are truly doing the Lords work with the poor and warning the world!

What needs to be done

Back to what needs to be done with the pod-cast. I believe that people listening to our pod-cast will increase. But that is limited to right now about one program done a week because I generally just put out what has been recorded from radio. While I can upload other programs I cannot record with good quality a guest form the telephone. Once I have this ability then I can ask everyone that I have on radio to do an extra radio program with me for placing in the radio archives and in the pod-cast page. This will give a surge of programs heard. I can then also ask others to do net radio programs with me that do not have to be played on regular radio. So we can add more programs per week to inform the World of the times we are in. So we must get the radio studio right in order to do this.

Why you should help with the studio

So again more programs going out means more people warned and more support for the poor and the homeless. I just checked the pod-cast page and 4 more programs have been downloaded while I was writing bring the total up for today to 402 programs, and of course the days still is not spent. So why should you help with the studio getting fixed?

Warning the World!

Two reasons, one you get to help spread the Warning messages to the world as you read in Ezekiel 33:8 8When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. 9Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

So should be able to clearly see that we are to Warn the World of things to come. You should read the entire above chapter as it tells us we will deliver our souls for doing this. Other places in the Word of God Back this up. So this is reason one.

Reason two, spreading the gospel message and helping the Poor

Reason two is that more people that hear more radio will also have their hearts touched to help with our mission to the poor. Maybe also hearing about what we do will help others to understand Gods love for the poor and His heart to bring the gospel message to the world and to the poorest of the poor and the worst of the sinners. So helping radio you help the poor something the Lord always will bless you for even if you are not looking for a blessing! But really I see both reasons being interlocked! With us they always have been.

Clear Direction

I do have clear direction on what we wish to do with the poor in Wichita. Number one we are in a very cramped space. We have 40 chairs inside but there is barely room to walk in between. Yesterday when we opened we had 58 people there. That was just at the first count and more came and some left because of the crowd many eat and leave. Clearly we need more space. We cannot afford to pay more rent. We also have had neighbor problems off and on so again clearly I know that we need more space and the way to do that is buy. That means starting a fund for people to donate to purchase and older building to feed and care for the poor. If we would have had triple the space we could have just opened for an over-flow shelter this year. I am not trying to buy a church but a place where we can bring in the homeless and poor to help them but you see that is really what a church is to share the gospel and care for one another. And yes we will have our Sabbath service there as we do now. Giving all a chance to hear truth. So any that would contribute to the building fund do NOT take away from your monthly, weekly, etc donations to do this, as we need your support to keep doing what we do now! And I just looked again the total programs for today is now up to 413 from 402, which means another 11 program have been downloaded while I was writing! I also have clear direction on which way radio is supposed to go which I have already laid out. I have talked with others and to finally finish off the studio without cutting anyh corners I need $1000. If I need to explain what all I need I can. Another clear direction I believe we should be headed is buying two properties in Florence. One has a house on it and a large lot that a ministry building could be placed on. We are trying to get this one for payments of $250 a month. Cost $12,500. Please stand with us in prayer that the people will give this to us on payments. Our family needs this house badly and a new radio studio/office would be built here from a building on the property. The Other place is much larger and you have seen the picture of it. Here we would use as a storage place, which is a great need right now. It would also give us a place to put a trailer to help others out. The small new house on the lot would be expanded into a outreach to the poor and a meeting place or church if you will. I feel very strongly that we need to pray in this place first as to not miss the opportunity. I have found that there are many poor right here in Florence that could use a food bank. We also believe when the trouble hits soon the Lord will be having us care for those un prepared. We intend to help our neighbors the Lord will be sending us. I talked with a grandma caring for 5 little ones in her house and is barely making it, she as others could use a food bank. The Cost is merely $10,000 for the 10 lots I think it is. Again more Radio can do all these things. So these are the reasons for more radio, meaning finish the studio.

Ministry needs right now

Our Main computer is out! This computer is the one mom uses and the other computers in the house/ministry go through this one to print. We had the computer reload but now it freezes up when it comes on. It needs replaced! A Laptop is of very high need right now. I am having a hard time sitting up and doing computer work. It happens generally in the winter. I have been avoiding a surgeons knife since 1985. I will be getting pin shots any day for this. But they only help for a short period. A Laptop frees up to lie down or move to the big house to work on my book and the net to keep the people warned and to find radio guests.

Mom says she needs around $300 to finish up the bills for this month that is in. That does not include the newsletter money, gas, food account money, etc. You see all of our supporters cut back in donations this month so we are behind. I need money to buy cold remedies and medical supplies. We need clothing donations, hats, coats, gloves, winter things, and blankets, sleeping bags.

Yesterday at the Wichita Mission

Yesterday we were packed as I said when open. One fellow had to be doctored for a broken nose. Others had colds, that drained my supply of cold remedies. Prayers were given for lost loved ones. A prayer was given for a woman with AIDS and has a mental problem. Another homeless woman came with only sandals on and her feet were red from the cold. I went to wal-mart and got her some shoes. I counseled and prayed for a man who wants to change his live and followed my advice-contacted relatives in another city with my phone and if things work out right will be moving there. A woman brought socks so everyone got a brand new pair of socks it was a blessing. Other things happened and of course mom made a great meal for them. So please consider us in your Prayers! And I just looked again and we are up to 418 programs for today! The LORD bless thee and keep thee;The LORD make His face shine upon thee;
and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. (peace)

Shalom In Yeshua our Messiah

Wow what a weekend we had! Friday Lynda made eleven dozen egg, lunchmeat and cheese sandwiches and I set out 18 trays of sweets. I made a bean soup with hamburger and home made corn bread for dinner. We had a Chanukkah party for Messiah's Branch members on Friday night and we all had lots of fun. We had home made cherry pie, Latke's, nuts, chocalate candies jelly rolls and sugar cookies. After the party our family pulled out our sleeping gear and snuggled up at the Mission so we would be there at noon Saturday when the peoples party was to start. We opened a little early as the guys were all out front when we got up, some said they came at 7:30am. We had a man who had heard Tom Decker and seen our web site bring in some foods, fruits and drinks for the party while Pastor Dan & I were out getting some last minute items. There was nuts, candy, pita chips & hamos, oranges, fruit juice, sparkling drink, beef sausage & two different kinds of cheese squares. This really helped in spoiling the guys for Chanukkah, I made home made cherry pie for the night before and served out the rest first thing Saturday. We had five pizza's donated and i bought four more so they had hot pizza around 2pm. I made beef hotdogs around 4:30 then at 6:45 we served BBQ Beef sandwiches, BBQ chips, Potatoe Salad and the sparkling drink for dinner. The whole 24 hours I set out packaged sweets we made pop corn, chocolate milk shakes, and home made double chocolate chip browines. I also gave out tooth brushes & paste, razors and shaving soap. I passed out some chocolate mints and made special coffees and teas. Everyone had a wonderful time and all were well behaved. The newsletter went out Tuesday so you all should have it by now. There are four bills I still need to pay and I need the postage to mail out the over seas newsletters. I recieved 280 stamps of which I used 100 on the newsletter and the rest will mail the prison weekly. That list has now grown to 21. All the accounts are low again so please pray about supporting this ministry. All we ask is that you pray about it Yahweh may be waiting to hear from you to use you as a vessel in some area of these works. Thanks to all who helped with the Chanukkah Parties and to all who support and continue to support Messiah's Branch and all of the outreaches there of. We love you all and pray for your safety in the times ahead. Shalom sisterlinda/family & Messiah's Branch Mark 9:23,10:27

One candle is added to the menorah each night. The first night, you light only the shammus (servant, the one at a different height) and one Chanukkah candle. By the eighth night, you light all of the candles. Candles should be added to the menorah from right to left (like Hebrew writing). See animation at right. The shammus candle is lit first. While holding the shammus candle, recite the following blessings.

Blessing over CandlesBarukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam asher kidishanu b'mitz'votav v'tzivanu l'had'lik neir shel Chanukah. (Amein)
Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the universe Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to light the lights of Chanukkah. (Amen)Barukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam she'asah nisim la'avoteinu bayamim haheim baziman hazeh. Shehecheyanu (first night only)Barukh atah Adonai, Eloheinu, melekh ha'olam shehecheyanu v'kiyimanu v'higi'anu laz'man hazeh. (Amein)
Blessed are you, Lord, our God, sovereign of the universe who has kept us alive, sustained us, and enabled us to reach this season (Amen)

After reciting the blessings, use the shammus to light the Chanukkah candles from left to right (newest to oldest). Candles should be left burning until they go out on their own. They must burn for more than half an hour. Standard Chanukkah candles burn for about an hour.

On the 25th of Kislev are the days of Chanukkah, which are eight... these were appointed a Festival with Hallel [prayers of praise] and thanksgiving. -Shabbat 21b, Babylonian Talmud

Chanukkah, the Jewish festival of rededication, also known as the festival of lights, is an eight day festival beginning on the 25th day of the Jewish month of Kislev. Chanukkah is probably one of the best known Jewish holidays, not because of any great religious significance, but because of its proximity to Christmas. Many non-Jews (and even many assimilated Jews!) think of this holiday as the Jewish Christmas, adopting many of the Christmas customs, such as elaborate gift-giving and decoration. It is bitterly ironic that this holiday, which has its roots in a revolution against assimilation and the suppression of Jewish religion, has become the most assimilated, secular holiday on our calendar.

The Story The story of Chanukkah begins in the reign of Alexander the Great. Alexander conquered Syria, Egypt and Palestine, but allowed the lands under his control to continue observing their own religions and retain a certain degree of autonomy. Under this relatively benevolent rule, many Jews assimilated much of Hellenistic culture, adopting the language, the customs and the dress of the Greeks, in much the same way that Jews in America today blend into the secular American society. More than a century later, a successor of Alexander, Antiochus IV was in control of the region. He began to oppress the Jews severely, placing a Hellenistic priest in the Temple, massacring Jews, prohibiting the practice of the Jewish religion, and desecrating the Temple by requiring the sacrifice of pigs (a non-kosher animal) on the altar. Two groups opposed Antiochus: a basically nationalistic group led by Mattathias the Hasmonean and his son Judah Maccabee, and a religious traditionalist group known as the Chasidim, the forerunners of the Pharisees (no direct connection to the modern movement known as Chasidism). They joined forces in a revolt against both the assimilation of the Hellenistic Jews and oppression by the Selucid Greek government. The revolution succeeded and the Temple was rededicated. According to tradition as recorded in the Talmud, at the time of the rededication, there was very little oil left that had not been defiled by the Greeks. Oil was needed for the menorah (candelabrum) in the Temple, which was supposed to burn throughout the night every night. There was only enough oil to burn for one day, yet miraculously, it burned for eight days, the time needed to prepare a fresh supply of oil for the menorah. An eight day festival was declared to commemorate this miracle. Note that the holiday commemorates the miracle of the oil, not the military victory: Jews do not glorify war.

Traditions Our rabbis taught the rule of Chanukkah: ... on the first day one [candle] is lit and thereafter they are progressively increased ... [because] we increase in sanctity but do not reduce. -Shabbat 21b, Babylonian Talmud

Chanukkah is not a very important religious holiday. The holiday's religious significance is far less than that of Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Passover, and Shavu'ot. It is roughly equivalent to Purim in significance, and you won't find many non-Jews who have even heard of Purim! Chanukkah is not mentioned in Jewish scripture; the story is related in the book of Maccabbees, which Jews do not accept as scripture. A dreidel is marked with four Hebrew letters: Nun, Gimmel, Heh and Shin. These letters stand for the Hebrew phrase "Nes Gadol Hayah Sham", a great miracle happened there, referring to the miracle of the oil. The letters also stand for the Yiddish words nit (nothing), gantz (all), halb (half) and shtell (put), which are the rules of the game! There are some variations in the way people play the game, but the way I learned it, everyone puts in one coin. A person spins the dreidel. If it lands n Nun, nothing happens; on Gimmel (or, as we called it as kids, "gimme!"), you get the whole pot; on Heh, you get half of the pot; and on Shin, you put one in. When the pot is empty, everybody puts one in. Keep playing until one person has everything. Then redivide it, because nobody likes a poor winner.

Chanukkah Music Maoz Tzur (Rocky Fortress)The lyrics of this song date back to approximately the 13th century C.E. It is believed to be written by a man named Mordecai, because that name is encrypted in the first letters of the five stanzas. The music dates back to at least the 18th century, and possibly as far back as the 15th century. Most people are only familiar with the first stanza, which is reproduced below. This very literal translation is not what most people are used to seeing (it is usually translated as "Rock of Ages").

Rocky Fortress of my Salvation
It is delightful to praise You
Restore my House of Prayer
And there we will give thanks with an offering
When you have prepared the slaughter
for the blaspheming foe
Then I will complete with a song of hymn
the dedication of the altar
Then I will complete with a song of hymn
the dedication of the altar

Ma'oz tzur y'shuati
L'kha na-eh l'shabei-ach
Tikon beyt t'filati
V'sham todah n'zabei-ach
L'eit tachin matbei-ach
Mitzar ha-m'nabei-ach
Az egmor b'shir mizmor
Chanukat ha-mizbei-ach
Az egmor b'shir mizmor
Chanukat ha-mizbei-ach

A less literal but more singable translation:

Rock of Ages, let our song, Praise Thy saving power
Thou amidst the raging foes, Wast our sheltering tower
Furious they assailed us, But Thine arm availed us
And thy word broke their sword, When our own strength failed us.
And thy word broke their sword, When our own strength failed us.

Mi Y'maleil? (Who Can Retell?)

Although the translation is not quite literal, it's the closest thing to a literal translation I've been able to find. For some reasons, this popular Chanukkah song is usually translated with great liberties.

Who can tell of the feats of Israel
Who can count them?
In every age a hero arose to save the people.
Who can tell of the feats of Israel
Who can count them?
In every age a hero arose to save the people.

Hear! In those days at this time
Maccabee saved and freed us
And in our days the whole people of Israel
Arise united to save ourselves.

Mi yimalel g'vurot Yisrael
Otan mi yimneh?
Hein b'khol dor yakum hagibor, go-el ha-am.
Mi yemalel g'vurot Yisra-el
Otan mi yimneh?
Hen b'khol dor yakum hagibor, go-el ha-am.

Sh'ma! Ba-yamim ha-heim ba-z'man hazeh
Maccabee moshiya u'fodeh
U'v'yameinu kol am Yisrael
Yitacheid yakum l'higa-el.

A popular less literal but more singable translation:

Who can retell the things that befell us, who can count them?
In every age a hero or sage came to our aid
Who can retell the things that befell us, who can count them?
In every age a hero or sage came to our aid

Hear! In days of yore in Israel's ancient land
Maccabeus led the faithful band
Now all Israel must as one arise
Redeem itself through deed and sacrifice

Chanukkah, Oh Channukah

There are many variations on this popular Chanukkah tune. I've provided singable versions in both English and Yiddish. The lyrics of these two versions don't really correspond to each other, but both versions speak of the fun of the secular trappings of the holiday, with slight reference to the religious aspects.\

Chanukkah, Oh Chanukkah
Come light the menorah
Let's have a party
We'll all dance the hora
Gather round the table, we'll have a treat
Shiny tops to play with, latkes to eat

And while we are playing
The candles are burning low
One for each night, they shed a sweet light
To remind us of days long ago

Chanukkah, O Chanukkah
A yontev a sheyner
A lustiger a freylicher
Nito noch azoyner
Ale nacht in dreydl shpiln mir
Zudigheyse latkes esn mir

Geshvinder tsindt kinder
Di dininke lichtelech on
Zogt "al ha-nisim," loybt G-t far di nisim
Un kumt gicher tantsn in kon

Recipe for Latkes

Makes approximately 12 palm-sized latkes

4 medium potatoes

1 medium onion

2 eggs

3/4 cup matzah meal (flour or bread crumbs can be substituted)

salt and black pepper to taste

vegetable oil

Shred the potatoes and onion into a large bowl. Press out all excess liquid.(if using a food processor, use the chopping blade for 2 or 3 seconds after pressing out liquid to avoid stringy fly-aways). Add eggs and mix well. Add matzah meal gradually while mixing until the batter is doughy, not too dry. (you may not need the whole amount, depending on how well you drained the veggies). Add a few dashes of salt and black pepper. (don't taste the batter -- it's really gross!). Don't worry if the batter turns a little orange; that will go away when it fries.

Heat about 1/2 inch of oil to medium-high heat. Form the batter into thin patties about the size of your palm. Fry batter in oil. Be patient: this takes time, and too much flipping will burn the outside without cooking the inside. Flip when the bottom is golden brown.

Place finished latkes on paper towels to drain. Eat hot with sour cream or applesauce. They reheat OK in a microwave, but not in an oven unless you cook them just right.

If you'd like to try something a little different, add some bell peppers, parsley, carrots, celery, or other vegetables to the batter to make veggie latkes! You may need to add a third egg and some more matzah meal for this. For a zesty twist, add some diced jalepeo peppers to the batter! This should definitely be served with sour cream!

Time-saving substitutions:

Grocery stores now provide many time-saving options for cooking. The substitutions below will save you time in preparing the batter and cleaning up. Sorry, nothing I can do to speed the frying time. You can substitute any or all of these:

Substitute 3 cups hash-brown style shredded potatoes for the potatoes (Simply Potatoes brand works well and is kosher-certified)

Substitute 1 cup frozen chopped onions (thawed and drained) for the onion

Substitute 1/2 cup egg whites from a carton for the eggs

Good Women Proverbs 31:9

10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. 11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. 12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands. 14She is like the merchants ships; she bringeth her food from afar. 15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens. 16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. 17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms. 18She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night. 19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff. 20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. 21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet. 22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple. 23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land. 24She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant. 25Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come. 26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. 27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. 28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. 29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. 30Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised. 31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Well I said I would talk about the shelter or rather shelters in Wichita. Yesterday when Frank the producer and Owner of American Voice Radio did an interview with me, he asked about the no overflow shelter issue in Wichita. So in brief here is what transpired over a few days. Trying to find a building to rent for an over-flow for three months has been very hard. Most I talked with wanted a year lease, was two high, or just did not want to rent for that reason. Now I had not been to AECH in some time. In fact they seemed now the have lost much of their fire as some wished to wait until the city/county got done with their assessment of the need for a shelter or something to help with the Homeless problem. When I stopped going to AECH they had many plans and was fixing to start trying to bring in the other churches into the problem. Now in the words of one of the heads of the Board " Yes it seems all has slowed way down" and when I asked the board if they had sent letters to the churches there was silence in the room and I asked a second time. It was then said, " They were working on it." To me this was very high on the list when I left. The only way AECH could flourish is by bringing in others and firing them up as I still strongly believe that the answer to the problem is the Church. Meaning it is the Churches job to care for the poor. With 600 to 800 churches in Wichita they should be able to fix the problem of those out on the street. But first they have to be made aware. I know some were upset at me when I got there and even a few days later was still getting apologies for the way the meeting had went. In Fact one said to me he was sorry, as it seemed a boxing match. Well in a way it was. It was brought up about some things I said in my mission updates about the church. And I understand the asking so I cut the person off and made myself very clear. The Church is supposed to care for the Homeless and poor and it really is not the cities job. I told them I spoke of the Wichita Church in general and that of course I was thankful for anything that anyone in Wichita did for the Homeless and poor. I tried to see if I could offer money to get the use of a church for an overflow and I really did not get much of an answer. Well it was said "It takes months of planning meals etc" In other words I was not going to get any Church to offer to use their building. The air was hostile and I started to leave and was asked to sit back down. Sam from interfaith offered us beds and blankets if I was to find a place and open and some others said they could help with meals. Sam said he had been taking people in without advertising. Clearly he does not wish to step on city toes. He does have to have their cooperation with other things interfaith does so it is understandable from that point of view. It was also brought forward that if I opened a shelter would it not mess up the cities numbers of how many were homeless and mess things up for years to come. I said back politics; are we willing to let people die to prove a point? Anyway I can tell AECH seems to be split on how some wish to be on the path of lets go forward and others wish to sit back and wait on the city.AECH they are all good people but they need to get back on fire now before the city task force comes back with there is no need for a 24/7 shelter. The only reason for the task force is because of what AECH did this last summer. They need to go back to their first love, being on fire and moving forward. Well when I left one young lady followed me out. She does much for the homeless. She told me she was upset at all the politics and some other things I will not go into and said she supported our work. And she does by bring needed items our little Mission building. But clearly I got no help towards being offered a building to open an overflow shelter. And the people have been at that time freezing outside off and on the last month. I felt I had left them with the message the Lord had placed on my heart and I had seen in a dream a few weeks before. I felt relieved of a burden. And that night I was still burdened for the people. A winter storm was coming and I praying what to do. The next day the storm blew in as an Ice storm. It was to have snow behind it. But it was clearly where I could not get out and to Wichita Safely as our 4 wheel drive ministry vehicle has a blown tyranny, and of course no money to fix. This hurts very badly. As I was working in the afternoon on ministry things in my office and waiting to here from the Lord if I should just go open our doors. Which would mean driving through a Ice/snow storm in the van. I still had not felt the urge just to get up and go. In Fact I felt the Lord was holding me back. Something must be a foot? Several calls had come in while I was working in my office, all from a wonderful woman in one of the churches. This I did not know till finally she reached mom. Mom was told by her she had another plan and wanted me to know.at about the same time it came over the news that interfaith was saying they would take anyone in from the cold that needed a place. The city overflow was on the news right behind them saying they were open two days early. Great that saved me a trip and I now knew why the Lord was keeping me back. Finally the wonderful Lady from one of the churches did get me on the phone. She had talked with interfaith and told them that she had gotten permission from her priest to open the church doors for the people if the city shelter had not opened. She went out telling and placing signs for the homeless to know that the city shelter would be open. All this in the snow with a newly operated on knee, she could have fell and really hurt herself. She had called Sam and I really think that also led to interfaith coming on the air. Anyway so that day two places opened for the people to get into. Sam said That interfaith would put anyone up that was turned away from the city shelter. A very wonderful thing. Oh yes one of the ladies at the meeting said that the " way I served God put everyone to shame, including her. She also brought hand made quilts and hats for the people the next day we were opened. She said if I did do a shelter her church wanted to help with meals! She also sent us a donation. My heart has been very lifted by the women in AECH. They truly wish to see something done. I feel that AECH is still a good thing but needs these good women to place some burning wood under some of the men and get something done Yuk Yuk!And there are some other churches in Wichita that help the homeless by feeding and giving coats. Yes I cannot understand why some of them waited until December to do it but they did and it helped the ones we had not already given new and used coats to. The Shelter should have at the least been opened a month ago. Many of the people have terrible colds, as I have been giving them medications for to treat them.So of the guys are still staying outside as theyre not comfortable in either place. Some are in camps and other are in hiding as both have had a low turn out in people showing up.The ones that showed are showing up at the city shelter say its cold but not so bad. They say there is much room but that is because of the low numbers showing up. If the normal numbers showed up then it would they would be sleeping right next to each other on the mats that are directly on the floor with no space between them. No meals are brought in just coffee I am told. I sent a bag with Twinkies, zingers and other sweets that could have lasted a few days. I hear from other people cannot even find the location of the city shelter. So do I need to open an overflow this year? Yes I think I should but I just do not think its going to work out period. What I am praying about is seeing if those of you that were willing to support an overflow would please consider supporting something that would coast less and make a bigger difference. We want to rent a house for women. It would 1 be a walk in overnight shelter. For those that we see wanting to make a change we would let them stay and work with them to get them productive and out back to life. We have a woman who lives in Wichita that can live there and care for the women. Wichita needs this and it is an area we can help with. So what I need is to find enough people to raise simply $2000 a month separate than what they already donate. This is where are prayers are at. This is the direction we wish to go for now. We could start with as little as $1000 for the first month to secure a place and get bills going.......It does not all have to come from one person but a real commitment to doing what you pledge each month! Once this goes I think I can get local support for it. Then using this as an example I can open one for the men. One house at a time, a few souls at a time. The Bills are in and just as I thought December donation are down. By now we have our major mail in donations generally but I have no idea why they are not here. Bills are going past due. At least $3000 that is normally here by now is not. In fact the mail out newsletter has not even went out! So pray about helping is you can or just pray the normal donations get here. We have great needs now! And the people need gloves, hats, sleeping bags, blankets, cold medications, and sleeping bags heavy ( We could use at least 10 or more ) Below is an article from the Wichita Eagle and again the number of homeless in it is incorrect. May The LORD bless thee and keep thee; The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. READER VIEW: HELP FIGHT HOMELESSNESS

More than 600 people will be homeless in Wichita tonight. Some will find temporary emergency housing while others will be without shelter. They will find refuge in cars, abandoned buildings or under city bridges. Children make up nearly 40 percent of those who are homeless. There are also hundreds who are not homeless but go hungry every day in our community. According to the Kansas Health Institute, more than two-thirds of families who don't have enough food to eat have at least one family member working full time. They simply do not have enough money after paying rent and utilities. The Center on Hunger and Poverty at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., reported in a 2004 study that Kansas ranked seventh in the nation for hungry households.$9.25 an hour to afford a one-bedroom apartment at fair-market rate, or $12 an hour for a two-bedroom apartment. A worker earning only the minimum wage would have to work 71 hours for a one-bedroom apartment or 87 hours for a two-bedroom. According to the U.S. Conference of Mayors, low-paying jobs are the leading cause of hunger and homelessness. Even at times of economic expansion, the conference says, low-income wage workers and their families find it difficult to locate decent affordable housing. About 11 percent of Wichita residents are living at the poverty level. You can help by making a donation to any number of community-based organizations working together through the Wichita Homeless Services Coalition or other local agencies and food banks. It takes the entire community coming together to break the cycle of homelessness through increased long-term affordable housing, livable wages, emergency shelters, transitional housing and skills-building programs. Together we can make a difference. For dinner I made turkey -n- noodles, green beans -n- corn with onions, peaches -n- pears and bread -n- butter. Tomorrow the newsletter will go out and most of the bills are paid but I still have two that are over due, Yahweh is in Control Amen. We need socks and shirts at the mission as well as blankets and coats. Today a box of nice yellow gloves came and they look like they will be warm ones. I spoke with a few of the guys last week that are staying outside. I don't know how they do it I would never make it I would freeze to death. Please pray for these guys as they struggle to stay warm on these cold winter nights. Most are looking forward to the Chanakkah Party this Saturday. This will be a very long weekend for us as we will be at the mission from Friday morning till Sunday at noon. I have lots of things to get done tonight to be ready for tomorrow so I will make this update a short one. Thank you all who support and continue to support these many works of Yahweh. All we ask is that you pray about helping and see if your a vessel our Father is waiting to use. We love you all Shalom sisterlinda more next update: " THE Truth will set you FREE"
