Prison Weekly April 1,2005

Shemini and Parah For the week of April 2, 2005 / 22 Adar II 5765 Torah: Vayikra / Leviticus 9:1 - 11:47 and Bemidbar / Numbers 19:1-22 Haftarah: Ezekiel 36:16-38 Why Does God Love Us? "'I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake,' declares the Sovereign LORD." (Ezekiel 36:32) This week's Haftarah (reading from the Prophets) includes some wonderful promises regarding the physical and spiritual restoration of the people of Israel. Even though Israel, God's people, misrepresented God and as a result experienced his harsh discipline, he determined to bring them back to their land and affect significant moral and spiritual changes in their lives as a nation. It was important for Israel to realize that God was doing this for his own sake, not theirs: "It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the
sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone." (36:22) Passages like this one have given some people the impression that God only really cares about himself. What he does for us is only the byproduct of his self-seeking motives. I don't know if you will hear anyone say it just like that, but this is essentially what is often implied. Many people who claim to accept the Bible have a very low view of us humans. They like to quote passages that seem to refer to people as worms, dirt, or puffs of smoke. While those passages do exist, there are also those that refer to our being created in the image of God, our being God's children, and our having great value. There are also many passages that speak of God's great love for Israel as well as for the rest of the world. One way to reconcile these concepts is to say that God is rather fond of worms and dirt.
Not only that - he doesn't really care about us - the dirty worms that we are he only really cares about himself and his desires. We are simply pawns that he manipulates in order to accomplish his master plan. That we get any benefit out of this should make us grateful, seeing that we deserve nothing but eternal suffering anyway. You may have guessed that I don't think that this is how we are to understand Ezekiel's words. This way of speaking is necessary when people begin to take God's love for granted. Because of the people's pride, it was necessary for God to adjust their perceptive. When we lose sight of our God-given place in the universe, thinking that we are what life is all about, forgetting that we were created to serve our Master and King as stewards over his creation, we set ourselves up for the kind of confrontation received by Israel in Ezekiel's day. At other times when
Israel was destitute and broken, God came with tender words of love and care. It is so important to read the Scriptures in context. It is true that we are but dust without God. He is our creator, sustainer, provider and savior. Yet separated from him we are completely lost dead in fact. To abuse the precious gift of life he gives us is to become less then animals. Our self sufficiency and ingratitude draw out God's wrath. But as we walk with God in the way his children should, humbly relying on him in and for everything, we discover who we were intended to be: royal members of the divine family, objects worthy of his infinite love. Shmini (Leviticus 9-11) Family Parsha Shmini 5765 The two sons of Aaron, the High Priest, had the best of intentions when they went into the Tabernacle and chose to make an offering to God that they thought would be good to offer even though God, through Moses, had asked them not to do so. Yet, despite their intentions, the consequences of their actions were quite negative. We can learn from here that even good intentions don't justify doing something improper. In our story a couple of kids find out that what seems like a good idea at the time sometimes isn't.

"PIPE DREAMS"

After a long, cold winter, spring had finally sprung and the world began to wake up. In the Kaplan household springtime meant gardening time and Joel and Jeremy, the Kaplan twins, excitedly dug out the hoes, spades, rakes and shovels from the corner of the garage where they had been hibernating all winter. They brought them to their father, who was standing by the fence with a ball of string and a measuring stick in his hand. "Thanks, boys," he said. "I'm going to drive to the plant store to pick up the vegetable flats for us to plant. While I'm gone, you guys can start digging."Joel and Jeremy each grabbed a spade and enthusiastically started to swing them. "Whoa, not so fast guys," laughed their dad. "I didn't tell you where to dig yet. Now look carefully. I marked out with string on the ground exactly where we need to put the garden. You can dig anywhere within
the stringed-in area, but it's very important not to dig anywhere else. You got it, guys? Dig only within the string, okay?"The boys nodded impatiently, and before their father had even left the driveway they were already hard at work. The digging went quickly as both Joel and Jeremy were big, athletic kids and were really getting into the fun and good workout of smashing the hard steel spades into the soft ground and watching the dirt fly all over the place. Soon enough they got to the end of the stringed in area, put down their spades and had a cool drink from their water bottles."That was easy, huh?" said Jeremy."Yeah, I hardly even broke a sweat," Joel agreed. "Me neither. Hey, you know what I'm thinking?"As twins, they actually did usually know what the other was thinking. "Yeah, let's give Dad a surprise and make him an extra big garden this year.""I know Dad said only to dig
up until here, but I bet he said that just because he didn't want us to work too hard. He'll be thrilled when he sees that we were able to do even more. What do you say?""I say let's dig!"The boys began swinging their spades even faster than before, and with all the noise and flying dirt, they didn't notice that their spades were starting to make a funny clinking sound as they dug into the ground. But after Jeremy took one of his mighty swings, the twins got a big surprise as a big gush of water started shooting out of the ground like a fountain."Hey, maybe we struck oil," Joel said excitedly. Then they took a better look. "This isn't oil - it's water! But where did it come from?"Their answer was not long in coming. "Oh no! What happened here?" Mr. Kaplan yelled as he ran out of his car. In all the commotion, the boys hadn't even noticed he had returned."Um, Dad, we don't know. We were
just digging like you said, and...""Like I said? I told you to stay within the string and you must be ten feet outside of it! Do you realize what you did? This water is coming from the very expensive underground sprinkler system I put in last year that is now smashed to pieces! It's not going to be cheap to fix, and it's coming out of your allowances.""But Dad, that's not fair!" protested Joel. "I'm sorry it broke, but we didn't break it on purpose.""Yeah," added Jeremy. "We wanted to give you a surprise by making the garden bigger."Mr. Kaplan turned off the water main, and with the geyser no longer gushing, everyone began to calm down."Listen, boys. I know you didn't break it purposely, and I also realize that you were trying to do me a favor...""So that means we don't have to pay?" asked Jeremy."No, you still have to pay for the damage.""But why? You just said...""I know what I
said," Mr. Kaplan said in a calm voice, "but I also said to you very clearly before exactly where to dig and where not to, just to prevent what happened from happening. Your intentions were good, but you still chose not to honor what I clearly asked you not to do, and you have to face the consequences of that choice. You can pay it off a little at a time, but you have to pay it off. Do you understand, boys?"The twins looked at each other. What could they say? Their dad was right. "Okay Dad, we understand," Jeremy said. "I guess it's only a favor to do what someone asks you to do, and not what they ask you not to do.""Yeah," added Joel with a smile, "or else you can end up all wet." Aish.com

Last weeks Answer:2 Samuel 1:1-16 - KJV 1 Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag; 2 It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance. 3 And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. 4 And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also. 5 And David said unto the young man
that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead? 6 And the young man that told him said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him. 7 And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I. 8 And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite. 9 He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me. 10 So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord. 11 Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: 12 And they
mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword. 13 And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. 14 And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed? 15 And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. 16 And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.

Find This Passage: Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah. Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with
thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat. Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet,
and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!

Remember to Keep the Passover of YAHWEH

by Rabbi Yochanan Mascaro
[THIS ARTICLE IS STILL IN PROGRESS. MY COMMENTS TO BE INCLUDED SOON. ENJOY AND EJOICE IN THESE MPORTANT SCRIPTURE VERSES FOR NOW.-R.YM] "Va'yomer Avraham Elohim (YAHWEH) yir-eh-lo ha-seh le-olah bnei va'yelchu shneihem yachdav" - Bereshiet 22:8 "And Avraham said, My son, Elohim (YAHWEH) will provide himself a lamb for an OLAH (ascension offering): so they went both of them together. -Genesis 22:8 >From The TaNaK (Torah Nviim Ketuviim/Instructions-Prophets-Writings)Shemot/Exodus 12:1-51 12:1 And (YAHWEH) spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you. 3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for
an house: 4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. 5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: 6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. 7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. 8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. 10 And
ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. 11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is (YAHWEH's) passover. 12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the elohim of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am (YAHWEH). 13 And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. 14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to (YAHWEH) throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 15 Seven days shall ye
eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. 16 And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. 17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. 18 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even. 19 Seven days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land. 20 Ye shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread. 21 Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover. 22 And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning. 23 For (YAHWEH) will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. 24 And ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to
thy sons for ever. 25 And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which YAHWEH will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service. 26 And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? 27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of (YAHWEH's) passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. 28 And the children of Israel went away, and did as (YAHWEH) had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. 29 And it came to pass, that at midnight (YAHWEH) smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharoah that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. 30 And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his
servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. 31 And he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, and get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve (YAHWEH), as ye have said. 32 Also take your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also. 33 And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men. 34 And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders. 35 And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: 36 And (YAHWEH) gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that
they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. 37 And the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, beside children. 38 And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. 39 And they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt, for it was not leavened; because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victual. 40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four hundred and thirty years.41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of (YAHWEH) went out from the land of Egypt. 42 It is a night to be much observed unto (YAHWEH) for bringing them out from the land
of Egypt: this is that night of to be observed of all the children of Israel in their generations. 43 And (YAHWEH) said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover:
There shall no stranger eat thereof: 44 But every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof. 45 A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. 46 In one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth ought of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof. 47 All the congregation of Israel shall keep it. 48 And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to (YAHWEH) , let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof. 49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto
the stranger that sojourneth among you. 50 Thus did all the children of Israel; as (YAHWEH) commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they. 51 And it came to pass the selfsame day, that (YAHWEH) did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies. Exodus/Shemot 34:25 25 Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven;neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning. WayiQra/Leviticus 23:5
5 In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is (YAHWEH's)passover. Bamidbar/Numbers 9:2 2 Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season. Bamidbar/Numbers 9:4-6 4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover. 5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that (YAHWEH) commanded Moses, so did the
children of Israel. 6 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: Bamidbar/Numbers 9:10 10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body,or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto(YAHWEH). Bamidbar/Numbers 9:12-14 12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it. 13 But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of (YAHWEH) in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin. 14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will
keep the passover unto (YAHWEH); according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land." Bamidbar/Numbers 28:16 16 And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of (YAHWEH). Bamidbar/Numbers 33:3 3 And they departed from Rameses in the first month, on the fifteenth day of the first month; on the morrow after the passover the children of Israel went out with an high hand in the sight of all the Egyptians. Debarim/Deuteronomy 16:1 1 Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto (YAHWEH)thy Elohim: for in the month of Abib (YAHWEH) thy Elohim brought thee forth out of Egypt by night. 2 Thou shalt therefore sacrifice the passover unto (YAHWEH) thy Elohim, of the flock and the herd, in the place which (YAHWEH) shall choose to place his
name there. Debarim/Deuteronomy 16:5-6 5 Thou mayest not sacrifice the passover within any of thy gates, which YAHWEH thy Elohim giveth thee: 6 But at the place which (YAHWEH) thy Elohim shall choose to place his name in,there thou shalt sacrifice the passover at even, at the going down of the sun, at the season that thou camest forth out of Egypt. Yehoshua/Joshua 5:10-11 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho. 11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day. Melakim Beit/2Kings 23:21-23 21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto (YAHWEH) your Elohim, as it is written in the book of this covenant. 22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges
that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah; 23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to (YAHWEH) in Jerusalem. Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 30:1-2 1 And Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of (YAHWEH) at Jerusalem, to keep the passover unto (YAHWEH) Elohim of Israel. 2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month. Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 30:5 5 So they established a decree to make proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba even to Dan, that they should come to keep the passover unto (YAHWEH) Elohim of Israel at Jerusalem: for they had not done it of a long time in such sort as it was written. Divri HaYamin
Beit/2Chronicles 30:15 15 Then they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of (YAHWEH). Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 30:18 18 For a multitude of the people, even many of Ephraim, and
Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. ButHezekiah prayed for them, saying, (YAHWEH) is tov and he willpardon everyone Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 35:1 1 Moreover Josiah kept a passover unto (YAHWEH) in Jerusalem:and they killed the passover on the fourteenth day of the firstmonth. Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 35:6-9 6 So kill the passover, and sanctify yourselves, and prepareyour brethren, that they may do according to the word of(YAHWEH) by the hand of Moses. 7 And
Josiah gave to the people,of the flock, lambs and kids, all for the passover offerings, for all that were present, to the number of thirty thousand, andthree thousand bullocks: these were of the king's substance. 8And his princes gave willingly unto the people, to the priests, and to the Levites: Hilkiah and Zechariah and Jehiel, rulers ofthe house of Elohim, gave unto the priests for the passoverofferings two thousand and six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen. 9 Conaniah also, and Shemaiah and Nethaneel, his brethren, and Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, chief of theLevites, gave unto the Levites for passover offerings five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen. Divri HaYamin Beit 2Chronicles 35:11 11 And they killed the passover, and the priests sprinkled theblood from their hands, and the Levites flayed them.Divri HaYamin Beit/2Chronicles 35:13 13 And they roasted the
passover with fire according to theordinance: but the other holy offerings sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people. Divri HaYamin Beit 2Chronicles 35:16-19 16 So all the service of (YAHWEH) was prepared the same day, to keep the passover, and to offer burnt offerings upon the altar of (YAHWEH), according to the commandment of king Josiah. 17 And the children of Israel that were present kept the passover at that time, and the feast of unleavened bread seven days. 18 And there was no passover like to that kept in Israel from the days of Samuel the prophet; neither did all the kings of Israel keep such a passover as Josiah kept, and the priests, and the Levites, and all Judah and Israel that were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah was this passover kept. Ezra 6:19-20 19 And the
children of the captivity kept the passover upon the
fourteenth day of the first month. 20 For the priests and the Levites were purified together, all of them were pure, and killed the passover for all the children of the captivity, and for their brethren the priests, and for themselves. I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when ye come together in the assembly, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it. 19 For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. 20 When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat (YAHSHUA'S) supper. 21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken. 22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the assembly of YAHWEH, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not. 23 For I have received of that which also I delivered unto you, That the Master (YAHSHUA) the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he
brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. I am not going to get into any discussion of the scriptural impropriety of observing other celebrations at this time of year. There are other articles that deal with that matter on this website and other places. What I will say is that from what we have seen above in the Scriptures, at this time of year we are to Remember to Keep the Passover of YAHWEH. May you be blessed in and of (YAHWEH) this Pesakh/Passover as we remember how (YAHWEH) took our forefathers out from the land of bondage (sin) and into freedom in TORAH ...as we also remember Him, The promised Lamb of YAH, (The SENT ONE...SHILOH), Who became our pesahk (1 Corinthians 5:7), Who takes away the sins of HaEretz (The Land) (YAHchanan/John 1:29) ...the world and through Whom we have this freedom. Abba, we are not worthy to
partake of this meal, but only say the WORD ...and we shall be healed. And you have spoken Your Word... (YAHSHUA).

The New Moon in the Hebrew Bible The Biblical month begins with the crescent New Moon, also called First Visible Sliver. The Hebrew word for month (Hodesh) literally means New Moon and only by extension the period between one New Moon and the next..tanachQuote {;} The Rabbanite Midrash relates that when God said to Moses "This month (HODESH) shall be for you the beginning of months" (Ex 12,2) the Almighty pointed up into the heavens at the crescent New Moon and said "When you see like this, sanctify! [=declare New Moon day]". This Rabbinic fairy-tale highlights an important point, namely that the Bible never comes out and says we should determine the beginning of months based on the New Moon. The reason for this is that the term for "Month" (Hodesh) itself implies that the month begins with the crescent New Moon. As will be seen, this would have been obvious
to any ancient Israelite present when Moses recited the prophecies of YHWH to the Children of Israel and therefore there was no need to elucidate this concept any more than such terms as "light" or "dark". However, due to the long exile, we have lost the use of Biblical Hebrew in day to day speech. Therefore, we will have to reconstruct the meaning of Hodesh from the usage of the word in the Biblical text using sound linguistic principles. He Created the Moon for Holidays There can be no doubt that the biblical Holidays are dependent on the moon. The strongest proof of this is the passage in Ps 104,19 which declares: "He created the moon for Mo'adim [appointed times]" The Hebrew term Mo'adim [appointed times] is the same word used to describe the Biblical Holidays. Leviticus 23, which contains a catalogue of the Biblical Holidays opens with the statement: "These are the
Mo'adim [appointed times] of YHWH, holy convocations which you shall proclaim in their appointed times [Mo'adam].". So when the Psalmist tells us that God created the moon for Mo'adim [appointed times] he means that the moon was created to determine the time of the Mo'adim of YHWH, that is, the Biblical Holidays. "Hodesh" Is Related To the Moon The above verse clearly teaches us that the holidays are related to the moon. But when the Torah was given Ps 104 had not yet been written by the Levitical prophets, and the question still remains of how the ancient Israelites could have known this. The answer is that the Hebrew word for month (Hodesh) itself indicates a connection to the moon. We can see this connection in a number of instances in which Hodesh (month) is used interchangeably with the word "Yerah", the common Biblical Hebrew word for moon, which by extension
also means "month". For example: "...in the month (Yerah) of Ziv, which is the Second month (Hodesh)..." (1Kings 6,1) "...in the month (Yerah) of Ethanim... which is the Seventh month (Hodesh)..." (1Kings 8,2) Another proof that Hodesh is related to the moon (Yerah) is the phrase "A Hodesh (month) of days" (Gen 29,14; Nu 11,20-21) [meaning a period of 29 or 30 days] which is equivalent to the phrase "A Yerah (month/ moon) of days" (Dt 21,13; 2Ki 15,13). Clearly then Hodesh is related to "Yerah", which itself literally means "moon". "Hodesh" Means New Moon (Day)The primary meaning of Hodesh (month) is actually "New Moon" or "New Moon Day" and it is only by extension that it came to mean "month", that is, the period between one New Moon and the next. This primary meaning is preserved in a number of passages such as 1Sam 20,5 in which
Jonathan says to David "Tomorrow is the New Moon (Hodesh)". Clearly, in this verse Hodesh is used to refer to the specific day on which the month begins and not the entire month. Another passage which uses Hodesh in its primary sense is Ez 46,1 which talks about "The Day (Yom) of the New Moon (Ha-Hodesh)". Clearly in this verse Hodesh (New Moon) is a specific event and the beginning of the month is the day on which this event (New Moon) occurs. The Biblical New Moon is the "First Crescent""Hodesh" (New Moon), is derived from the root H.D.SH. meaning "new" or "to make new/ renew". The Crescent New Moon is called Hodesh because it is the first time the moon is seen anew after being concealed for several days at the end of the lunar cycle. At the end of the lunar month the moon is
close to the sun <javascript:ol('http://www.karaite-korner.org/new_moon.shtml%23note_1');>
and eventually reaches the point of "conjunction" when it passes between the Sun and the Earth.<javascript:ol('http://www.karaite-korner.org/new_moon.shtml%23note_2');> As a result, around the time of conjunction very little of the moon's illuminated surface faces the Earth and it is not visible through the infinitely brighter glare of the sun. After the moon moves past the sun it continues towards the opposite side of the Earth. As it gets farther away from the sun the percentage of its illuminated surface facing the Earth increases and one evening shortly after sunset the moon is seen anew after being invisible for 1.5-3.5 days. Because the moon is seen anew after a period
of invisibility the ancients called it a "New Moon" or "Hodesh" (from Hadash meaning "new"). Crescent New Moon vs. Astronomical New Moon Many people have been led astray by the inaccurate use in modern languages of the term "New Moon". Modern astronomers adopted this otherwise unused term, which had always referred to the first visible sliver, and used it to refer to conjunction (when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, at which time it is not visible). The astronomers soon realized that the inaccurate use of "New Moon" to refer to conjunction would lead to confusion so to be more accurate scientists now distinguish between "Astronomical New Moon" and "Crescent New Moon". "Astronomical New Moon" means New Moon as the term is used by astronomers, i.e. conjunction. In contrast, "Crescent New Moon" uses the term in the original meaning of the first visible sliver. A
good English dictionary should reflect both meanings. For example, the Random House Dictionary of the English Language, Unabridged Edition defines New Moon as: "The moon either when in conjunction with the sun or soon after being either invisible [Astronomical New Moon] or visible [Crescent New Moon] only as a slender crescent." (square brackets added by NG). The Supposed Evidence For "Concealed Moon"Having been confused by the use of the term New Moon in modern astronomy some people have sought Biblical support for this incorrect meaning of the term. Ps 81,3 [Heb. 81,4] is usually cited which says: "Blow on a horn for the Hodesh (New Moon)On the Keseh (Full Moon) for the Day of our Hag (Feast)."According to the "Concealed Moon Theory", the term "Keseh" is derived from the root K.S.Y. meaning "to cover" and thus means "covered moon" or "concealed moon". According to this
interpretation, when the verse says to blow on a horn on the day of Keseh it actually means "[blow on a horn] on the day of Concealed Moon". However, the language does not support this argument for the second half of the verse also refers to the day of Keseh as "the day of our Feast (Hag)". In the Bible, Feast (Hag) is a technical term which always refers to the three annual pilgrimage-feasts (Matzot, Shavuot, Sukkot; see Ex 23; Ex 34).<javascript:ol('http://www.karaite-korner.org/new_moon.shtml%23note_3');>
New Moon Day (Hodesh) is never classified as a "Pilgrimage-Feast" so Keseh/ Hag can not possibly be synonymous with New Moon Day (Hodesh). It has further been suggested that Keseh refers to the Biblical holiday of Yom Teruah (Day of Shouting), which always falls out on New Moon Day. However, the Bible describes
Yom Teruah as a Moed (appointed time) and never as a Hag (Pilgrimage-Feast) so Keseh/ Hag can not refer to Yom Teruah either. What Does Keseh Really Mean?It is likely that Keseh is related to the Aramaic word "Kista" and the Assyrian word "Kuseu" which mean "full moon" (see Brown-Driver-Briggs p.490b) [Hebrew, Aramaic, and Assyrian are all Semitic languages and often share common roots]. This fits in perfectly with the description of Keseh as the day of the Hag since two of the three Pilgrimage-Feasts (Hag HaMatzot <javascript:ol('http://www.karaite-korner.org/rekhavi/passover.shtml');>
and Hag HaSukkot <javascript:ol('http://www.karaite-korner.org/sukkot.shtml');>) are on the 15th of the month, which is about the time of the Full Moon!
More on "Concealed Moon"Another point to consider is that there is no actual "day" of concealed moon. In fact the moon stays concealed anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 days in the Middle East. It has been proposed that the "day" of concealed moon is actually the day of conjunction (when the moon passes between the Earth and Sun). However, it was only 1000 years after Moses that the Babylonian astronomers discovered how to calculate the moment of conjunction. Therefore, the ancient Israelites would have had no way of knowing when the moment of conjunction takes place and would not have known on which day to observe "Concealed Moon Day". It has been suggested that the ancient Israelites could have looked at the "Old Moon" and determined the Day of Conjunction by when the Old Moon was no longer visible in the morning sky. However, such a method would not work in the Middle East where the
so-called "concealed moon" can remain concealed for as many as 3.5 days! It is in fact common for the moon to stay concealed for 2.5 days and in such instances how would the ancient Israelites have known which day was the Day of Conjunction? In contrast, the ancient Israelites would have been well aware of the Crescent New Moon. In ancient societies people worked from dawn to dusk and they would have noticed the Old Moon getting smaller and smaller in the morning sky. When the morning moon had disappeared the ancient Israelites would have anxiously awaited its reappearance 1.5-3.5 days later in the evening sky. Having disappeared for several days and then appearing anew in the early evening sky they would have called it the "New Moon" or "Hodesh" (from Hadash meaning "New"). http://www.karaite-korner.org/new_moon.shtml
Q: Does Abib
mean "Green Ears" or "Green, tender ears"?
No. Abib does not mean "green ears", despite the incorrect translation in the King James Bible. The precise meaning of Abib must be reconstructed by going into the fields and studying the barley and cross-referencing this with the Biblical evidence. The Bible often speaks of "Abib parched in fire". This refers to grain which is developed enough to be eaten after it has been parched. In contrast, "Green Ears" is such a broad term that it can refer to grain which when parched will shrivel up leaving no edible material. This has been confirmed by experiments. In order to be Abib, the barley must be more developed than Green, tender ears. Biblical evidence also shows that Abib is a brittle state as can be seen from the description of the crops destroyed by the Plague of Hail: "And the flax and the barley were smitten, because the barley
was Abib and the flax was Giv'ol. And the wheat and the spelt were not smitten because they were dark (Afilot)." (Ex 9,31-32) Q: How can the new year be set according to the barley in Sabbatical and Jubilee years? What about in drought years? Even if barley sometimes sprouts and grows "voluntarily" with no cultivation, isn't this is less likely in the Jubilee year and in years of severe drought. Barley grows every year in the Holy Land whether farmers intentionally cultivate it or not. Unintentionally cultivated barley, also referred to as "volunteer" barley, is present all over the Land of Israel in very large quantities. In areas where barley had been cultivated in previous years, fallen seeds would have grown "voluntarily" in relatively large concentrations. However, even in areas where barley has not been cultivated since at least 1948, it continues to survive in great
quantities. Volunteer barley grows in such large quantities that Arab shepherds have been known to harvest it with sickles to feed their sheep. Modern wheat farmers in Israel complain that they have to actively root out volunteer barley from their wheat fields and even then they can never get all of it. It is specifically the "volunteer" crops which the Torah gives the poor and Levites to eat in the sabbatical year, as we read in Lev 25,4-7:"(4) But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for YHWH: you shall not plant your field...(5) That which grows of its own accord of your harvest you shall not reap... (6) And the [produce of the] Sabbath of the land shall be for you for food; for you, and for your man-servant, and for your woman-servant, and for your hired workers, and for your stranger that sojourns with you. (7) And for your cattle, and for the
wild-animals that are in your land, shall all its produce be for food."In a Sabbatical or Jubilee year there would have been no difficulty to determine the Abib based on the "volunteer" barley. Even in the severe drought of 1998-1999 the volunteer barley was abundant throughout the Land of Israel, even in the Negev desert!Q: Does the Abib barley have to be from the Land of Israel or can we use barley in other lands as indicators of the New Year?According to the Torah only the barley in the Land of Israel is relevant for the Biblical year, as we read in Lev 23,10:"When you come to the land which I give you and harvest ITS harvest, and you will bring the sheaf of the beginning of your harvest to the priest."We see here that it must be the barley in the Land of Israel ("the land which I give you"), which is harvest-ready by the Sunday which falls out during Passover. If there is no
barley ready for harvest in the Promised Land by this time then that month is by definition not the "Month of the Abib".During the 40 years of wandering in the wilderness (a desert), Israel kept a careful record of the months and years and also brought the Passover sacrifice (Nu 9) in the desert. Obviously, they could not have consulted the barley in the Canaan. Doesn't this prove the year is not dependent on ripening barley?Technically there would have been no problem in sending messengers to the Land of Canaan (a 1 or 2 day journey from Sinai) to check the state of the barley crops. In fact, this is what the Karaites of Cairo did for nearly a thousand years, even though they were much farther from Palestine than the ancient Israelites in Sinai. A better question is what did the Israelites do in the year of the Exodus when sending messengers would have been very difficult
(although not impossible), due to the conditions of enslavement. It would not have been sufficient for the Children of Israel to have simply checked the barley in Egypt since according to the Torah only the barley in the Land of Israel is relevant for the Biblical year, as we read in Lev 23,10:"When you come to the land which I give you and harvest ITS harvest, and you will bring the sheaf of the beginning of your harvest to the priest."We see here that it must be the barley in the Land of Israel ("the land which I give you"), which is harvest-ready by the Sunday which falls out during Passover. If there is no barley ready for harvest in the PromisLand by this time then that month is by definition not the "Month of the Abib". So if the Israelites in Egypt were unable to send messengers to check the barley crops in Canaan, how did they determine the beginning of the year in the year of
the Exodus. The answer is given in Ex 12,2, namely that the beginning of the year was proclaimed by YHWH Himself, as we read: "This month is for you the beginning of months; it is first for you of the months of the year." Although the Israelites in the desert could easily have checked the Abib in Canaan, they probably continued to use the system of intercalation used in the year of the Exodus, that is Divine Decree. Most of the commandments only took full effect once the Israelites entered the Land of Canaan. This is said explicitly with many commandments and is quite obviously the case with the agricultural laws. In the desert there was no harvest. Are we to believe they did not celebrate Shavuot (Feast of Harvest) and Sukkot (Feast of Ingathering)?!? All indications are that these Feasts were kept even though their full significance as agricultural Feasts only came into effect when the
Israelites entered the Land of Israel. Similarly, the use of the Abib as it grows in the Land of Israel would have only begun from when the Israelites entered the promised land (see also Lev 23,10 quoted above "When you come into the land which I give you...").Q: Genesis 8:13 shows that Noah could determine the first month without ever leaving the ark. Doesn't this prove the Biblical calendar is not dependent on observing the barley crop?Noah himself did not know the date. What the verse in question says is:"And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry."The date is revealed to us (the readers) by the narrator (YHWH). The narrator often reveals information to the reader, which is
unknown to the characters in a Biblical account. Not only was Noah unable to see the Abib, but he was also unable to see the New Moon because he was sealed into the Ark. Presumably he had no idea of the date, month, or year. Indeed, in a period before glass panes, the "window" (Gen 6,16) which Noah built into the ark would have been closed with a wooden shudder [until it was opened some time after the 10th day of the 10th month (Gen 8,6)]. So Noah, sealed into the ark, would not have even known whether it was day or night! Q: Aren't computerized calculations "more objective" than observations of ripening Barley?A: Computerized calculations can not accurately predict when the barley will be in the state of Abib and therefore these calculations are useless for fixing the Biblical calendar. There are calculations which can predict when the vernal equinox will take place. However, the
Torah does not command us to observe the Feasts according to the equinox, whereas it does command us to observe them according to the ripening Barley as we read in the verse:"Keep the month of the Abib [=ripening barley] and make the Passover (sacrifice) to YHWH your God at night, because in the month of the Abib YHWH your God took you out of Egypt" (Dt 16,1)Furthermore, the ancient Israelites did not have computers nor was the calculation of the equinox known when the Torah was given. Even once an "objective" way to calculate the equinox was discovered, the only way to acquire this knowledge was to learn the ways of the idolatrous astrologers, which the Torah strictly forbids, as we read in Dt 18,9-10:"(9) When thou art come into the land which YHWH your God gives you, you shall not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. (10) There shall not be
found among you
... an observer of times, or an enchanter..." note
The prophet Jeremiah also warns us not to learn astrology:"Thus saith YHWH, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. " (Jer 10,2)The prophet Isaiah speaks even more strongly against astrology:"(13) Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. (14) Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame..." (Isa 47,13-14)Q: Doesn't Genesis 1:14 show that the Vernal Equinox, not the barley, determine the holy day seasons? We read in Gen 1,14: "And God said, Let there
be lights in the firmament of heaven, to divide between the day and the night and they will be for signs and for times (Moedim) and for days and for years." From this verse it is not clear what is dependent on what. Certainly no mention of the Vernal Equinox is made. Perhaps the year is dependent on the moon or the stars? If the year is dependent on the sun, then what about the sun effects the beginning of the year? Gen 1,14 does not specify these things and we must turn to other Biblical passages to get a more precise understanding of the Biblical calendar. In Dt 16,1 we read: "Keep the month of the Abib and make the Passover (sacrifice) to YHWH your God at night, because in the month of Abib YHWH your God took you out of Egypt"Similarly we read:"You will keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread; seven days you will eat unleavened bread, as have I commanded you, at the time of the
month of the Abib
, because in the month of the Abib you went out of Egypt." (Ex 34,18)The word "Abib" refers to barley which has reached a certain stage in its development. This meaning of Abib is preserved in the verse: "And the flax and the barley were smitten, because the barley was Abib and the flax was Giv'ol. And the wheat and the spelt were not smitten because they were dark (Afilot)." (Ex 9,31-32)To keep the Passover Sacrifice in the Month of the Abib requires taking the Abib (ripening barley) as an indicator of the beginning of the year. This is entirely consistent with Gen 1,14, for the ripening of the barley is dependent on the seasons of the year and therefore indirectly is controlled by the sun. Central factors, which cause the barley to ripen, are the lengthening of the days and the increasing sunlight, changes in humidity, and other factors which affect
the environment. Therefore, it is the sun, which indirectly causes the barley to ripen, and thereby acts as an indicator of years. It is this indirect effect which causes the barley to become Abib which Gen 1,14 is referring to when it says the sun and moon will be for years. It should be noted that the equinox is never mentioned in the entire Hebrew Bible. Gen 1,14, which has often been cited as proof of the equinox theory, does not mention the equinox either. On the contrary, the use of astronomical calculations for determining the time of the equinox, was in this period synonymous with the idolatrous practice of fortune telling and was certainly not practiced in ancient Israel (Isa 47,13).

Tzav (Leviticus 6-8) Family Parsha Tzav 5765 This week's portion teaches us the secret of how to become closer to someone else - by giving to him. The portion describes the different types of offerings or 'gifts' which God asked us to give Him in the Tabernacle. The Hebrew word for these offerings is 'korbanot,' which is a form of the Hebrew word 'to come closer.' God didn't 'need' our gifts - the whole world and everything in it are His already. Rather, He wanted to help us feel close and connected to Him, and that our acts of giving to Him would bring us there. In our story two sisters grow closer in a most unexpected way. "GIVING PEACE A CHANCE" KEEP OUT! NO PESTS ALLOWED! was the sign on Wendy's door, and it didn't take a
genius to figure out whom the sign was meant to keep away. As far as Wendy Abramson was concerned, her younger sister Paula was nothing but a nuisance and she wanted to have as little to do with her as possible. The kid was always trying to follow her around, but Wendy made it very clear she wasn't interested. She made it a point to sit on opposite sides of the school bus from her sister, eat at different tables and do whatever else she could to put herself wherever Paula wasn't.That's why she got so upset the day her mom dropped the bombshell over the breakfast table. "Wendy, I have to go away on business for a week starting tomorrow, and since your father is very busy and will be away at work most of the day I need you to help me." "Sure mom. What can I do?" "Well, you're big enough to take care of yourself, but Paula isn't. So I need you to look after her, you know, get
her off to school, make her lunch, that kind of stuff." Wendy almost choked on her Cheerios. "MOM PLEASE NO! Anything but that. I'll scrub the floors, I'll paint the whole house twice, just don't make me spend a whole week taking care of that little pest!" Wendy's mom nodded. "I know it isn't an easy thing to ask of you, and I'm sorry, Wendy, but there just isn't any other choice. And who knows..." she added with a cryptic smile, "spending more time together might just help you to grow closer." Wendy was floored. Growing closer was the last thing on her mind. Here she had been doing everything to avoid the little pest and now she had to spend a whole week taking care of her. Despite Wendy's best pouts, mournful tears and door-slams, her mom wouldn't change her mind, and the next morning Wendy braced herself for a miserable week. Come on, get up and get dressed. If you don't hurry
you're going to miss the bus, and if you think I'm going to wait around and walk you to school, forget it!" Wendy said with all the charm of a drill sergeant, as she quickly set out her sister's clothing and went into the kitchen to fix her breakfast. 'Why am I stuck having to do this?' she kept asking herself as she roughly smeared a wad of peanut butter across the smallest piece of bread she could find and stuffed it into her sister's lunchbox. Wendy and Paula rushed out the door and barely caught the honking school bus. She sat Paula down and as usual went to sit down on the opposite end of the bus. Then she thought, 'Gee, if I'm kind of responsible for her, maybe I should at least be able to see her,' and grudgingly sat down not actually near her sister, but not that far away either. After school Wendy ran straight to her room like she always did, and was about to close
and lock the door as usual, but then decided to leave the door open a tiny crack - just in case of an emergency. That night after finally getting her sister into bed, Wendy plopped down on the living room couch. It had been a tough day, and she wanted to relax. Soon she heard some noise coming from Paula's bedroom. She went to check it out, and found her sister was crying. "Hey what's the matter with you?" she asked. "I miss mommy and I'm scared to be alone," Paula sniffed. Seeing it was no emergency, Wendy was about to tell her to be quiet and walk back out. Then she looked again at Paula, who looked so small all curled up in bed. 'Poor kid,' she thought. 'If I were her age, I'd be scared too.' "It's okay Paula. Here, let me read you a nice story and I'm sure you'll feel better." Paula smiled and a few minutes later she was fast asleep. From that night on, something
strange started to happen. Taking care of Paula wasn't turning out to be nearly as horrible as Wendy expected. She herself didn't even know why, but having to help her sister out so much just somehow made her like her better and care about her more. Each day she found herself waking Paula up more gently, making her nicer lunches, and leaving her door open just a bit more. In fact, though she'd never say it to the kid's face, her sister was actually starting to grow on her and even seemed kind of cute - for a kid sister. The week passed and Wendy's mom was due home that afternoon. Was she crazy or was she going to actually miss taking care of Paula? After giving her a nice warm bowl of oatmeal, Wendy walked Paula out to the bus. They had a nice chat along the way, and when Wendy sat Paula down on her usual seat and then took the seat right next to her, the other kids, and even the bus
driver, did a double take. That afternoon their mom came home. She opened the door and was relieved to see that the house was still in one piece. But the nicest surprise was seeing her two daughters laughing and playing a game together in Wendy's room. The usual KEEP OUT! sign on her door had been replaced by one saying WELCOME HOME MOM!, and signed by both of them. "Wendy, I see you really came through for me. I hope it didn't take too much out of you." Wendy smiled. "Mom, it was fine. Thanks for giving me the chance to give and get closer to someone really nice." Aish.com

Last Weeks answer:Isaiah 25:1-9 KJV 1 O Lord, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. 2 For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built. 3 Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee. 4 For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall. 5 Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low. 6 And in this mountain shall the
LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined. 7 And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations. 8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it. 9 And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Find This Passage: Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Amalekites, and David had abode two days in Ziklag; It came even to pass on the third day, that, behold, a man came out of the camp from Saul with his clothes rent, and earth upon his head: and so it was, when he came to David, that he fell to the earth, and did obeisance. And David said unto him, From whence comest thou? And he said unto him, Out of the camp of Israel am I escaped. And David said unto him, How went the matter? I pray thee, tell me. And he answered, That the people are fled from the battle, and many of the people also are fallen and dead; and Saul and Jonathan his son are dead also. And David said unto the young man that told him, How knowest thou that Saul and Jonathan his son be dead? And the young man that told him
said, As I happened by chance upon mount Gilboa, behold, Saul leaned upon his spear; and, lo, the chariots and horsemen followed hard after him. And when he looked behind him, he saw me, and called unto me. And I answered, Here am I. And he said unto me, Who art thou? And I answered him, I am an Amalekite. He said unto me again, Stand, I pray thee, upon me, and slay me: for anguish is come upon me, because my life is yet whole in me. So I stood upon him, and slew him, because I was sure that he could not live after that he was fallen: and I took the crown that was upon his head, and the bracelet that was on his arm, and have brought them hither unto my lord. Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: And they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house
of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword. And David said unto the young man that told him, Whence art thou? And he answered, I am the son of a stranger, an Amalekite. And David said unto him, How wast thou not afraid to stretch forth thine hand to destroy the LORD's anointed? And David called one of the young men, and said, Go near, and fall upon him. And he smote him that he died. And David said unto him, Thy blood be upon thy head; for thy mouth hath testified against thee, saying, I have slain the LORD's anointed.

Prison Weekly March 19th,2005

Va-yikra and Zakhor For the week of March 19, 2005 / 8 Adar II 5765 Torah: Va-yikra / Leviticus 1:1 - 5:26; Devarim / Deuteronomy 25:17-19 Haftarah: 1 Samuel 15:2-34 Restoration of Truth "The LORD called to Moses and spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting." (Va-yikra / Leviticus 1:1) The book of Leviticus continues the regulations for the priestly service of the Mishkan (Tabernacle). As mentioned last week, the Mishkan with its priestly service was God's reality invasion into Israelite society. One of its purposes was to show that there was more to life than the natural world around them. Yet the presence of these ceremonies was normal for those days. There was nothing strange about having a special structure built for religious purposes. Offering animals and agricultural produce to a deity and seeing people dressed in ceremonial religious
costumes was common. Therefore the uniqueness of Israel's priestly service is not found in their having such ceremonies, but rather in the truths expressed through the Mishkans particular elements and activities. If we examined the ceremonies of other ancient cultures, we would find many things that (at least to us) would seem very similar to those we find in the Torah. These similarities may give one the impression that these other religions possess some elements of truth, which would actually be quite misleading. One of the reasons why seemingly true things can be found outside of God's revelation in the Scriptures, is because all peoples are descended from Noah. While Noah knew the truth, his descendants did not retain the purity of Noah's faith, but instead, due to sin, developed mutations of truth. Therefore remnants of truth - albeit tainted truth exist in many, if not in all,
cultures. It would take God's penetrating with a burst of revelation through Moses to begin to restore genuine truth to us. Even then, human nature would continue to be drawn to the errors of the surrounding cultures. Only the redemptive work of Yeshua would be sufficient to free us from our continual downward spiral of wrong thinking and effectively bring about a full restoration of God's truth. We must be careful then, not to be lured by those elements of truth that remain within the vast array of religions and philosophies of our own day. The presence of truth outside of God's revelation in the Scriptures often only serves to draw us into ungodly thought and practices. Truth found in unscriptural philosophies in no way justifies those philosophies. Anything that does not agree with God's perspective in the Bible has no place in the minds, hearts, and activities of God's people. We
need therefore to allow the Scriptures to continually confront all human thought. TorahBytes

Vayikra (Leviticus 1-5) Family Parsha Vayikra 5765 A big lesson of Purim is that sometimes things that seem bad are really God's hidden ways of giving us something good. In the Megilla, the Purim story, things looked really bad for the Jewish people. Haman, a terrible anti-Semite becomes the king's prime minister and plans to kill the Jews. Then Esther is forced to leave her home and marry the disgusting and wicked king. But as the story unfolds we see how all these things were really parts of God's hidden plan to bring us great good. We each have our own private 'Purim stories' going on in our lives and can take heart that even when things look dark, God is really giving us hidden good. In our story, a kid goes on a 'Purim trip', but not the kind he planned.

"WHEEL OF FORTUNE "

I felt the thud, thud, thud of the flat tire, and I couldn't believe it. How many things could possibly go wrong for one person in one day? I got down off my bike, whipped the spare inner tube I always carry out of my pack, and got to work. I was upset but not really surprised, because it had just been one of those of days, you know the kind when you get up on the wrong side of the bed and you never find your way back. Actually the day started out really good. I got a call from a couple of buddies and we made up to go into the city and catch the big high-tech expo at the science museum. It was supposed to be amazing. Mr. Shapiro was going to drive us all in his van. The only catch was that we all had to meet at Sam's house because his father didn't want to make a hundred stops, and they were leaving exactly at 2:00, whether we were there or not. No big deal,
I thought. My dad's really cool about these things and I was sure he wouldn't mind driving me across town to where Sam lived. Well that was my first mistake. My father felt really bad, but he had an important meeting already lined up then and wasn't going to be home. It was a problem, but not so bad, since I still had plenty of time to get there by bike. But even that didn't turn out to be as simple as I thought because while my bike was securely locked to the lamp post in front of my house, I had no idea where I had left the key! I finally found the key - in my kid sister's dollhouse of all places! I was late and had to hurry, but I'm in good shape, so it was doable. I kissed my mom goodbye and took off down the road that would get me straight there the fastest way. The only problem was: the road was closed! Just my luck, just that day, they decided to repaint the stripe running down
the middle of the road for the first time in years. I was mad, but when the big traffic cop pointed me to take the detour I wasn't about to argue. It was 1:45 PM, and making it to the van on time was becoming a real long shot. I sped as fast as I could along the winding, bumpy, detour road. Maybe I'd make it after all, I thought. That moment I got the flat. Well between my old leaky hand pump, and the rusty wheel rim, changing the tire took me almost an hour! It was all over. No way would Sam and the gang still be there. I turned around and started riding home - what else was there to do? Everything was just plain going wrong! I got back to my street and could see my house. Hey, why was my dad's car back in the driveway - what happened to his meeting? - and why were he and my mom were rushing out of the house like that? Then my mom saw me coming, and she and my dad started
running fast my way. "Mark! Mark! I can't believe it. Are you really all right?" I didn't get it. How did they hear about my flat tire? Mom looked like she'd been crying. I mean I was pretty disappointed about it myself, but it wasn't SO bad. I tried to calm her down. "It's okay mom, I just got a flat and missed my ride. It's just a little bad luck..." She looked at my dad and gave me a big hug. "Bad luck?" my father said. "Mark, do you know what happened?" I shook my head. My mother spoke slowly. "Mark, the van got into an accident." "What!?" "Your friends were pretty shaken up, but thank God they'll be okay. Everyone else's parents had heard from their kids already, but when I didn't hear from you, I ... I didn't know what to think. So your father rushed home from his meeting and we were just on our way to the hospital to look for you. But now I see we've had a miracle!" Wow. I was too
blown away to even speak. The whole time, all the 'bad luck' I was having was really just God's way of keeping me out of the accident! You can bet I'm going to pay extra attention when they read the Purim story this year. After all, how many people get to live out the story first-hand?

Matthew 25:31
31When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came
unto me. 37Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee
an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
The LORD bless thee and keep thee; The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. (peace)Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24-26 In Yeshua's Name, Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch Shalom In Yeshua Our Messiah, Friday was a little different as the children were out of school so we got to go early with Pastor Dan. I gave them chips and sauce
and Kathy began to make the egg sandwiches. I believe she made a total of five dozen. We served many dozen donuts along with a variety of milks, ice tea & water, an coffee. I had a few errands to run for supplies and Bibles so Pastor Dan an I did have a little time together during the day. We picked up ten more large print Bibles but have a need for more so pray about weather your suppose to help with these Bibles getting out to the poor. Saturday's paper had on the front page that Boeing (the major air line plant) will be giving out 8000 lay off notices this week so that tells us many more people will be coming for help. We made fried chicken (cheated in a box) with scalloped potatoes, peas and bread-n- butter for dinner and we had the same for our Sabbath meal before service. Everyone loved it in fact we had almost as many go plates as we had first plates. I decided to start a dance
class for those who want to learn Messianic dance on Wednesday nights from 8pm to 9pm at the Mission. I plan on asking an instructor whom I know used to have a dance studio come and teach but if she is unable to do it we will still have the class. Pastor dan bought me a dance video so we will use it if we are unsuccessful in having the teacher come. Last weeks answer:Romans 5:1-11 1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope: 5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. 6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being
now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

The Holiday of Joy -- dress up, drink and be merry while remembering how the Jews of Persia narrowly escaped annihilation thanks to the bravery of Queen Esther

During the holiday of Purim, we read the book of Esther twice - it is a peculiar bible story, the only one where God is not mentioned.

Prison Weekly March 12,2005

Pekudei and Rosh Hodesh For the week of March 12, 2005 / 1 Adar II 5765 Torah: Shemot / Exodus 38:21 - 40:38; Bemidbar / Numbers 28:9-15; Shemot / Exodus 30:11-16 Haftarah: 2 Melachim / 2 Kings 12:1-17; Isaiah 66:1,24 Reality Invasion "Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle." (Shemot / Exodus 40:34) The presence of the Mishkan (English: Tabernacle) in the midst of the community of Israel was a reminder that there exists a reality beyond that of our normal existence. The sights, sounds, and smells of the priestly service were an invasion into the society of ancient Israel. The Mishkan pointed them to the reality of the spiritual realm, causing them to grasp heaven's relevance to the cycle of their daily lives. Both in ancient societies and our own, people have searched for
reality. There have always been those who have attempted to enlighten human kind as to the true meaning of life. But it is in the Mishkan that we have God's revelation of heavenly reality. Here we encounter no physical representation of God himself, for he is invisible and cannot be contained by human- made structures. Through the Mishkan we also discover that while God desires relationship with us, our sin has separated us from him. Because our sin brings the penalty of death, God must be approached through the shedding of blood and through the services of a mediator. Yet for all its impact, the Mishkan was but a preparation for a greater invasion of heavenly reality. The Mishkan existed to reveal our true state of separation from God while readying us for the time when God would deal with that separation, which he effectively did through the coming of the Messiah. Just like the Mishkan
Yeshua invaded Israelite society. Through him we were confronted with heavenly reality. He is Immanuel, God with us. Through him God lived among his people. Through him the walls of separation between God and the human race as illustrated through the Mishkan were torn down. Interestingly it would not be long after Yeshua's coming that the Temple (the Mishkan's successor, so to speak) was destroyed. One of the reasons for this is that it was no longer needed. The time of preparation had come to an end. The new invasion had occurred. The reality had come. Yet since that time people have continued to create symbols of heavenly reality. Through a great variety of religious activities, rites, and images the tradition of the Mishkan lives on. I wonder if those who depend on such things have really grasped the heavenly reality in Yeshua. This is a concern especially since that reality now lives
in his followers. It is we who are now the living stones of God's new temple. We are the ones through whom God confronts the world today with his reality. We are God's reality invasion. TorahBytes

Pekudei (Exodus 38:21-40:38) Family Parsha Pekudei 5765 Whatever we do, we should try to do it right and not just half-heartedly. In this week's portion, the Torah points out how Betzalel and the others who worked to make the Mishkan, the portable Tabernacle and its special furnishings, made the extra effort to do it right - just the way God and Moses had asked them. They didn't try to cut any corners. We can learn from this good trait and remember that anything worth doing is worth doing right. In our story we meet a kid who discovers that half-way isn't the only way. "HALF-WAY HOUSE" "Why don't they make these drawers any bigger?" huffed Debby Robinson as she quickly stuffed the half-folded laundry into the overflowing dresser drawers. Sure, it would probably all fit better if she took the time to fold
everything and arrange it neatly, but who had time to bother with that? She took the couple of blouses she couldn't stuff in and threw them on her bed, which together with her still tangled sheet, she covered over with her quilt. Good enough. Her mom had asked her to fold and put away her clothes, make her bed, and finish her homework before going out and that's what she was doing - sort of, anyway. Then she sat down to get her homework out of the way. "Let's see," she pulled out the day's assignment sheet. "Read history book pages 35-40." She took out the big, heavy book and started to read - the first and last sentence of each paragraph, that is. That should be enough to give me an idea of what it was talking about in case I get called on in school. Who could bother to actually read the whole boring thing? Next, math. "Seven kids wanted to split four apples. How much does each
one get?" Why couldn't each kid just take his own apple? she thought. Wouldn't that make their lives - and her homework - so much easier? "About a half," she quickly wrote down, as she continued to fly through the rest of the homework. She was just about done when her mom walked in. "Oh, Debby I forgot to tell you Rachel called and..." Her mother stopped in mid-sentence as she took a glance at the dresser that looked like half the clothes were trying to jump out of it, and the lumpy half-made bed. "Come on, Debby, you know this is not what's called cleaning up your room. I expect you to finish the job before you leave the house today." "But Mom, can't you give me a break? After all, does it really make such a big difference if the bed is all-the-way made, and the clothes are all-the-way folded?" But her mother only shook her head, smiled and said, "I'm sorry, I
realize you're in a hurry, but still, if your going to do..." "I know Mom, 'if you're going to do something, do it right,' " the girl sighed and repeated what seemed to her to be her mother's favorite expression, and Debby's least favorite. "When you finish, come downstairs. Your lunch will be waiting - and please bring me your math homework for me to look over before you go." Debby groaned. She just didn't understand why her mom make such a big deal about doing things right. Somehow, she slogged through her math homework, and then dragged herself back over to the dresser and started folding her clothes. But after one or two shirts, she got a 'brilliant' idea, and just gave everything one big push and smiled as the drawer miraculously snapped shut and stayed there - almost. Next she jumped down on her bed like a cannon ball, and got up. There, everything looked much flatter
now! Debby ran downstairs. Although she may not have agreed with her mom's idea of cleaning, she just loved her cooking. She looked forward to one of her typical hot, filling lunches to fuel her up for a day of play. "Finished everything already, Debs?" her mom asked with a surprised smile. "Yeah, sure Mom, basically." Her mom didn't say anything. Together they walked into the kitchen. "Here you go. Enjoy your lunch," Mrs. Robinson said pointing to the kitchen table. Debby sat down and looked at her plate. "Hey Mom, what's this? Where is the salad?" Usually her mom started lunch with a nice fresh cut salad, but today there was just a half a tomato, a cucumber and a knife. "The salad is right there," her mom said pointing to the plate. "It's not quite all-the-way made, but that's okay isn't it?" Debby half-heartedly cut a few slices of cucumber and ate them. 'Well at
least I'll enjoy the main course,'
she thought to herself, 'today's spaghetti and meat sauce.' But when her mom set down the bowl in front of her, Debby cringed. The pasta was ice-cold, and the sauce, which wasn't much warmer, seemed to have forgotten its meat. "Mom, what happened to lunch today?" she cried out. "What's wrong with the lunch? I know it might not be all-the-way cooked, but it's good enough, isn't it?" "Okay, mom. You win. I admit doing things half-way isn't good enough. But could I please have some hot spaghetti?" Her mom smiled, gave her a big hug, and then brought out the beautiful fresh salad, and steaming plate of food that she had waiting for her. The two of them had a good laugh together. After lunch was over, Debby called up her friends and told them she might be a little late, since she had something important to finish that was only half-way done. Aish.com

Mission Updates:Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Boy it sure was nice today to drive over in a really good vehicle for a change. For the last 4 years I have had vans that rattled and banged, air coming in and going out, heaters not working, never any air conditioning, never really know if they would not brake down out in the country or not....No murmurs the Lord has always got me there and back. Sometimes I was freezing or roasting from the heat. But rain, storm, sun, snow etc I always was there for the people. I was out once with my back and sick I think one other time in which Mom filled in. ( You know this ministry would be next to impossible without her, help, love, support and advice!) When the red van broke down I was about at my end. Then I got the
other van which was blessing but it started taking many repairs. Many it still needs. Then came of all things a Chevy Suburban. Now I never ever would go buy a Chevy and the Lord knows that. But this Chevy is such a great blessing to me. I remember crying out to the Lord about how this was his ministry and something had to give as I was so tired of driving un safe vehicles etc. Also telling him but I would keep going no matter what. So he gave me a Chevy of all things, who says the Lord has no humor! But it is wonderful. It drives like a new vehicle and even has air conditioning!!!!!!!!!!! the Mission people are also so happy for it as they had to go though what I did. It renewed everyone's Faith and courage. So again Thank you Lord for sending this wonderful Vehicle to us and you know what Lord I do not have one problem with it being a Chevy and Lord please bless the family who brought
it to us all the way from WI!
Today was the first of the month some had small checks today...and a great thing they did because the Overflow shut down putting hundreds out in the weather. Yep and these are the temperatures they are looking at if the weather info is accurate.. Today through the Sabbath here are the lows...with 26 tonight....

They were asking for blankets and we only had a few. Many really barely have coats! The work has been easier for the last few months with most staying in the overflow but now they are in the street! We need blankets, coats, hats, gloves all the things we need at the first of the winter! Cold medications. The police have even already started running them out from under the bridges. They say move on, but move on to where? We really need your help RIGHT Now pray about what the Lord would have you do. Today a young man from Jamaica came to the Mission. He introduced himself and said. " I know all about you, you re Pastor Dan. No one says anything about the Drop in or the Lord's dinner but everyone all they talk about is Pastor Dan..." He wanted prayer. I asked what for he said " just a Blessing" So many that come come for this and no other reason....I also prayer
for others today as they asked for prayer...You see the Lord brought me through so much so I could be His vessel for them. I do not feel special in any way only very, very, glad he lets me serve Him....
Saints I am tired and so more later...but please pray for what we do and if you can be a part of it! The LORD bless thee and keep thee; The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. Shalom In Yeshua Our Messiah,Friday was a special day Kathy made four and a half dozen egg sandwhiches they servered with dozens of fresh donuts a variety of milks, coffee, tea and water. We made double hamburgers, BBQ beans, BBQ chips and frosted browines for dinner everything was eaten. We ate with the people this week because we went to see Joel Chernoff in concert. Pastor Dan bought me Joel's dance video I do already know most of the steps but will now be able to teach the girls at the Mission. I had never seen some of the dances I know preformed in a circle so this will help us a lot because we have very little room at the mission but we can dance in a circle Hurray! We had two boxes of blankets come in the mail and The banker brought in sereral blankets but they all went out Friday. The shelters all closed so the people are back out
in the streets, under bushes, bridges, abanded buildings where ever they can hide to make it through the long nights. Which right now are still cold this Wednesday it is suppose to be down to 28 degrees. Please pray about supporting these works be lead by Yahweh ask Him what His will is for you to do. We need blankets, sleeping bags, coats , socks, hats, about everything you need they need so please just pray about helping. The Mission bills are all paid and the food account has funds for now. What we do need are small sized can goods and food box items for the food boxes Sarina makes for those who ask for help to get them by a few days. Right now we have no food to give away in any food boxes. These are things like canned soups, mac-n-cheese, small cans of meat, peanut butter, jelly, anything small she can put together for a person to have food a few days in the week. HELP if you can,
if everyone would just drop off a few items by the Mission they would turn into many items and we would be able to help those people who need food during the week, Pray about it. Thanks to everyone who helped out this week may you all Have a very Blessed week we love you all . more on the Mission Next Update:Shalom sisterlinda Messiah's Branch

Last Weeks Answer:Romans 1:1-15 KJV 1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, 2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,) 3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: 5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: 6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ: 7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world. 9 For God
is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers; 10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you. 11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established; 12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me. 13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles. 14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise. 15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Find This passage: Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

PRAY THE DOORS OF JERUSALEM CLOSED

I am outraged! Our Lord's last words to us commanded that we were to be witnesses unto Him, first in Jerusalem. Lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders are organizing WorldPride 2005, an international parade in the city of Jerusalem. This is not heaven witnessing; it is hell. Please join me in supporting Jerusalem's Mayor Uri Lupolianski in stopping this desecration of G_d's Holy City. Use the link below and join our campaign to protect Jerusalem. This is a battle between darkness and light. Satan's last challenge to God Almighty was from the city of Jerusalem nd then he would be like the Most High... that he would sit on the mount of the congregation on the sides of the north There is no doubt in my mind that he is attempting to shake his fist in the face of God.

Prison weekly March 5th 2005

Va-Yakhel For the week of March 5, 2005 / 24 Adar 5765 Torah: Shemot / Exodus 35:1 - 38:20 Haftarah: 1 Melachim / 1 Kings 7:40-50 A Great Invitation "All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded." (Shemot / Exodus 35:10) One of the most wonderful things in the universe is that Almighty God has invited each one of us to meaningfully participate in his creation. From the beginning when we were commanded to subdue the earth, to the call upon Abraham to be a blessing to all nations, to the Messiah's mandate to make disciples of every man, woman, and child, the plans and purposes of God have been dependant upon our involvement. What a contrast to the meaninglessness that pervades many cultures today. Perhaps the most common world view in the western world is secularism. Secularism assumes that we are the product of a cosmic accident. Anymeaning in life, therefore, is the meaning we give to it. No matter how intelligent this viewpoint is made to sound, it is an expression of how lost human kind really is. Having rejecting God's compass, so many people spend their lives wandering about, lost. There are many other viewpoints old and new, which try to provide an alternative to the lost-ness of secularism, but none come anywhere near the Bible's divine invitation for us to join the Creator in the work of the restoration of creation. Some religions claim that God is moving history in such a way that we can do nothing about it. This fatalistic view removes us from all responsibility. Others claim that God has simply set the universe in motion and that we would be best off to simply figure out where we little cogs fit into this grand machine. Others attest that the world as we know it is an illusion. Spiritual reality is foundin freeing our minds from the depravity and grief that confronts us each day. Only through this kind of detachment can we find meaning a meaning which actually has no meaning at all. Throughout history there are those who while claiming to believe the Bible, have in reality held variations of these wrong views. Some have focused on God's rule over nature and history to the point that they refuse to take responsibility for their own lives. Others believe that the universe is simply made up of principles. It is as we learn how those principles work that we can live effective lives. Still others pursue a spirituality that disconnects them from the realities of life, thus rendering themselves both irrelevant and infective to what God really wants from us. This week's portion contains another example of God's invitation to us. God commanded Moses to build the special place of worship, called the Mishkan (or in English, the Tabernacle). Within the community of Israel were people who possessed the skill needed to build the Mishkan. It would talk a great variety of artists and craftsmen to build this elaborate structure along with its furnishings and accessories. And so the invitation went out to all who are skilled in doing such things to come and make the things the Lord commanded. This is the same invitation that God is giving today. There is so much that God wants done in the world, and he is looking to you and me to join him in his work. He has given us all sorts of different skills in order to accomplish his purposes. It is now up to us to respond. TorahBytes
Vayakhel (Exodus 35:1-38:20) Family Parsha Vayakhel 5765 What is the secret to success? We might think that success depends on training, talent and experience. While these things are certainly valuable, this week's Torah portion reveals the hidden inner secret of success that can change our lives. When it was time to construct the Tabernacle and all of its beautiful furnishings, the question arose: who would be able to do this complicated and highly skilled work? None of the people had any training or experience, since they had all been slaves doing manual labor in Egypt. In the end, it was those motivated and positive-minded people who, despite the obstacles, were willing to step in and try. Once they took the initiative, God helped them and they succeeded! With enough drive andinitiative, the Almighty helps us accomplish amazing things. In our story we meet a kid who doesn't let the 'impossible' stop him and saves the day.
"MISSION IMPOSSIBLE"
"Okay guys, we just have to go over that hill. Then according to my map we are there!" said Dave Fisher, president of the Greenfield Day School environmental club. The guys had been hiking for more than two hours on their mission to help clean up a garbage-polluted meadow in Timberline State Forest. But everyone's enthusiasm soon turned to despair as they got to the top of the hill. There was the meadow all right. But between it and them was a heavily flowing river!The stream, which was usually just a tiny trickle, had been turned by all the melting snow flowing down from the mountain into, what seemed to the boys, a raging river."Oh no! This wasn't on the map," groaned Dave.Phil, another club member, bent down to check out the water. "No way can we get across. The water's way too deep - and brrr, way too cold to walk through." The guys shook their heads. It looked likethey had just hiked two hours for nothing and their big clean-up mission had turned into a big wash-out. "Maybe we can walk around it?" asked Phil. Dave shook his head. "Impossible. Take a look - the stream goes on as far as the eye can see. I hate to say it guys, but there's nothing else to do but give it up and go back home." The boys nodded their heads grumbling, and began to backtrack. "Hey, wait a minute!" called out a high-pitched voice. They all turned around to face Ari Simms, the club's youngest member. "How can we just give up like this? There has to be a way to get across." "What do you suggest, we fly?" jeered Phil as the other boys laughed bitterly. "Very funny," said Ari. "All I know is that we've come so far, and what we have to do is so important that there just has to be a way. Give me a little time and I'm sure I'll figure something out." The guys looked at eachother, then looked at Dave. They wished Ari was right, but it really seemed impossible. "Okay, Ari, you've got ten minutes to come up with something, or else we have to call it quits." "Deal!" he said. Dave and the other guys sat down to eat on some nearby rocks, as Ari racked his brains. "Please God," he whispered. "I know you want us to help clean up your world, just show me how." Suddenly he saw a funny looking branch sticking out from between two rocks. He went to check it out. It wasn't just a branch; it was a whole dead fallen pine tree. Hey, this would make a great bridge, he thought. If only it's big enough. He started to tug on it with all the strength his 89-pound body could muster. At first it wouldn't budge, but then it started to move. A couple of other guys who had been watching began laughing at the strange sight. But then they caught on to what he was tryingto do and jumped over to help him. Soon they had gotten the dead tree to the edge of the stream. Ari stood it up straight then gave it a push. "Okay, here we go. Tim-berr!!" he said as he let the tree fall, hoping it would span the stream. CRAASSHH!! With eyes wide open, the boys saw the tree stretched perfectly across to the other side. "You did it, Ari!!" "Not so fast, guys," Dave interjected. He put his foot on the tree and shook his head. "Great try, Ari, but it's just not steady enough to cross over. Sorry, but we just can't risk it." The guys groaned, but Ari refused to give up. "Just give me a couple more minutes. I'm sure I can work it out." This is a tough one, he thought. How in the world could we make it steady? Come on God - help me out here. He took a couple of steps and almost tripped. What was that?Ari looked down at some thick vines spread across theforest floor, and his face lit up in a smile. He pulled his Swiss Army knife out of his pocket, and couple of quick cuts later, he came running over to the tree-bridge. "Guys, looks like God sent us some ropes!" He beamed as he quickly secured one end of the dead tree to a nearby root. Then, before anyone knew what was happening, he quickly scampered across the bridge to the other side of the stream and tied that end of the tree with the vines. "Come on! It's steady as anything now, and the meadow awaits!" he smiled as he waved his friends across. Dave felt the bridge and nodded in approval. "He did it. He did the impossible! Let's go!" Seven happy laughing boys darted across what they dubbed the 'Ari Tree Bridge' and were able to accomplish their clean-up mission, thanks to the kid who was willing to try, and make the impossible - possible. Mission Updates:Matthew 22:36 36Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Yehsua said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Greetings Saints,These seem so simple but are they. If they are why is are parts of the Body of Messiah starving? Why are they naked and without? The Body of Messiah came together as a called out group of thebelievers to care for one another and share the Good News of our Lord Yeshua Messiah had delivered them. They ate together,worked together, they cared for one another. In fact they shared all with no real personal wealth. The Church as the KJV calls it wasformed in the home, there they met after Torah was read on The Sabbath day and shared songs, gifts of the spirit, prayed for one another, healed the sick, prophesied, they used all the gifts of the spirit as was given to them. They shared light on the Torah that had always been there, but hidden by thereligious leaders of the days. The Traditions of man had hidden the true light. The Church under great persecution Exploded into the world with great power and glory. None in the Church has want of food or clothing their needs were met by the Body of Messiah. Today Churches in Big cites are just mere blocks away form each other. Most have great big shiny kitchens used for monthly get meetings called pot lucks or by othernames. These are great things as the first century Church the table was mostly their alter. They shared with all. Now while the rich in the church the poor are out nakedand without on the street. The Church does not open their doors to them as they are dirty and have no money to put in the alter box! Messiah said in Luke 14:1112Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. 13But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame,the blind: 14And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just. The Church try's to entertain to gain the already supposed saved from the Church down the street the ones they know will give their Tithes already and have it to give. Why worry about the beggar on the street that is someone'sson or daughter or even war vet? Yes Iraqi war vets are even on thestreet. But where is the Love of God? The Church not the state is supposed to care for the widows and orphans. The poor that can work are to gather from the corners of the fields something was left for them...but does the modern man leave something for the poor. No they say they can work theya re there because of their own making. In the mean time the Church lovestheir new buildings..but where is the love of Messiah? Is the pastor going out into the street to find the lost sheep or just making the supposed saved happy with pretty sermons of nothing will happen as long as you give, give, give. If the church opened their doors and used those kitchens and shared what they have they would see an awakening in the Body ofMessiah...You see the Love would bring it forth as that is what Messiah is all about...And why do they say they love God and obey him not? If they obeyed they wouldbe where the sinners are at. There are enough churches That the poor, the hungry, would not be a burden. The sick in their hearts would know Messiah but how can you give Messiah without Loving them as yourselves? Yes there is a great tribulation coming for the World but the church first to take their riches...they that think they have need of nothing have been found wanting...IIn His Love and Perfect Peace, Pastor Dan...Love not the World! The LORD bless thee and keep thee;The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee;The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. (peace)Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24-26In Yeshua's Name,Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch Shalom In Yeshua our Messiah. The Lord Yahweh is awsome He is so good to those who obey Him and teach His word. We are so Blessed to be called to care for these people of the street thereare so many new faces daily. We need your support people we need clothing for all but maily for the men. We had someone send a box full of new jersey's, thermal shirts and stocking hats we took Friday and they were gone just about as fast as they came in the door Amen. This is an ezample of just how great the need is, this box also had 100 for 10 large print Bibles, 100 for the food account and 50 for gas. I didn't get the chance to make it to Sams to purchase the Bibles Friday but I have to take Pator Dan to town this Thursday so maybe we will have time to stopr for them them. Kathy has a new helper in the kitchen his name escapes me right now so I will have to let you know who he is in a later update. Together they made nine dozen egg sandwiches and finished up the chili I sent. They made sphagetti to serve with the chili an bread-n-butter. The chili was really good but kinda spicyhot. I didn't put anything hot in it but I did use a different chili powder that could of had red pepper in it or else someone snuck into the kitchen and put red pepper in while no one was lookin even though that stuff was a little on the hot side it all got ate.My van blew a heater hose on my way home from work but I made it all the way. I drove Daniels Bronco over and I got to drive the suburban home. Both are very nice trucks I'm so thankful that Pastor Dan has something big enough for the people and mechanicly sound to drive now it should last the ministry a very long time. The bills came in but so did 1250.00 from three different vessels so they will all be paid tomorrow. Say a prayer for grandma as the car she just bought Jan 16th broke down on her last week at work. It will start and run but won't go it has no power and it won't rev up at all. My brother is suppose to take a lookat it this week so pray it's somthin simple he can fix she can't afford to buy another one. Thanks to all who support these works for without your support we can not do any of it. The March newsletter was mailed out Friday on our way home so it will be on time this month. The over seas and Canada ones will go out the first of the week.This coming Friday will be a special day we are going to visit the Remnant of Israel for the following Special then we will go back to Messiah's Branch for fellowship and Torah Reading. Last Weeks Answer: Hebrews 5:1-91 For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: 2 Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. 3 And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. 4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. 5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. 6 As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. 7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him fromdeath, and was heard in that he feared; 8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

A World That Is Dying In Its Sleep!"And that knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." Romans 13:11-12"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Mens hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken."Luke 21:25-26"And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. And the great city wasdivided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell; and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found."Revelation 16:18-20In this issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, we will look at a world that is dying in its sleep. I am referring to a spiritual slumber preceded by a drunken stupor, induced by partaking of the deceptive cup of Babylon. This slumber is not a restful one but one of nightmares of reality leading to eternal death and everlasting damnation. It is just that serious! We know that the Almighty Saviour in his mercy and grace is sending forth numerous and successive wake-up calls, but the world sleeps on. We have been warned time and again by the convulsing earth and troubled heavens that the end of this present world is athand, but the world continues to be oblivious to the obvious. If this continues, the world will awaken unto death. Like a drunken man waking up in a house fire with flames leaping around him, it is too late to escape. So is the condition of this wicked world. We are warned in the Scriptures above that it is high time to awake out of sleep! It is time to break out of that nightmare and awaken to the true peace and salvation of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. In fact, the Scripture says it is high time to do this. If we can awaken to the reality of imminent destruction, we can also awaken to the reality of salvation, which will bring us to a full repentance and forsaking of the shroud of filth that has engulfed our nation and the entire world. Religion and church membership will never save anyone. Even the fundamentalist churches have become counter-productive to the Kingdom of God.We must all come fully awake while there is still time, and God will give us the strength to give Satan and his works the bums rush out of our lives. As we see the signs in heaven, as the earth continues to quake with the sea and waves roaring, we must purify ourselves in the precious blood of the Lamb of God and preach the everlasting gospel one more time. Our salvation is nearer than when we believed!
A Crescendo of Warnings! For some time I have been warning people throughout the world by means of this newsletter and the many thousands of cassette tapes and CDs that we send out each month that the earth is changing dramatically and is in a time of travail just as our Saviour said it would be. On December 16, 2004, AFP News published a picture of strange lenticular clouds over the Mount Erebus Volcano in Antarctica. (1) This is near the Ross Ice Shelf that is breaking up and clogging the sea with icebergs. One piece that broke off from Antarctica is as large as the State of Rhode Island. Peculiar things are happening at both poles of our earth. On December 19, 2004, a massive explosion occurred over Jakarta, Indonesia, as a ball of fire streaked across the sky. (2) This was one week before the great earthquake, and Indonesian scientists said therewas no seismic activity at the time of the exploding fireball. The next day, December 20, 2004, there was a rash of UFO sightings over Indonesia, Red China, and Australia. Countless thousands in the Eastern Hemisphere witnessed some amazing signs in the heavens. Over 700 official reports were filed as multitudes saw flashing fireballs and a "strange shining object" speeding through the sky. Authorities were also baffled by multi-colored lights, which hovered in the sky. (3)On December 21, 2004, the Los Angeles Times reported that Dr. John Anderson, the famous physicist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratories, issued a statement that "something funny is going on with gravity." The professor had first noticed the problem ten years earlier but cautiously waited until now. Using some of our space probes and precise calculations, all indicators reveal that gravity is losing its pull. Dr. Andersonadmitted that he just doesnt understand it. (4) This is an awesome thought! Gravity, the very force that holds the universe in place and balances our solar system and maintains the equilibrium of our earth, is rapidly weakening. I am reminded of Isaiah 13:13 which says, "Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the Lord of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger."On Friday, December 24, 2004, the Associated Press published a story and an astrological chart that was presented by Thailands government and their astrologer, Phinyo Phongchareon. This resident astrologer at the University in Bangkok predicted a year of trouble and turmoil for Thailand politically. (5) This was two days before the great earthquake and resulting tsunami hit that idolatrous land so infamous for witchcraft and prostitution. I was once an astrologer untilthe Lord Jesus mercifully called me out and delivered me from it. I can tell you first hand and from experience that all astrology is witchcraft of the first magnitude.Another major event took place on December 24, 2004, which received very little publicity. A powerful earthquake occurred 6.25 miles under the sea near Tasmania, just south of Australia. This quake, with a magnitude of 8.1, was one of the strongest ever recorded, but it did no real damage. (6) Little did people realize at the time that 48 hours later death and devastation would engulf that region of the world. The warning signs preceding the recent great earthquake were many. At the end of November, 2004, and during the first part of December, volcanoes were swelling and shaking in New Guinea and Hawaii. Vulcanologists reported an unprecedented number of earthquakes under Hawaiis Mauna Loa Volcano. (7) Hawaii also was hitwith a most unusual snowstorm. During this same time period, an earthquake killed 30 people in Indonesia, and powerful quakes also hit northern Japan and southern Italy. (8) The very next week the earthquakes continued in Algeria, Japan, and Trinidad. Powerful earth movements were felt in Alaska; northwestern California; the German-French border area; Athens, Greece; northwestern Turkey; and Sumatra and Java Islands in Indonesia. (9)In mid-December, about one week before the recent great earthquake, the Soputan Volcano erupted in Indonesia. At the same time, the Nyiragongo Volcano came to life in the Congo in Africa. Meanwhile, Japans northern main island of Hokkaido was rocked by another strong quake. Powerful earth movements were also felt in southern Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Morocco, Portugal, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, El Salvador, central Chile, andsouthern and central parts of coastal California. (10) Clearly, this world was beginning to convulse prior to a major catastrophe.
A World-Changing Event! On December 26, 2004, a catastrophic event occurred that has forever changed our world. At exactly 00:58:53 UTC (coordinated universal time) a magnitude 9 earthquake struck off the west coast of northern Sumatra, which sent devastation to 11 nations. These two numbers, 9 and 11, brought us another kind of 9-11. A tsunami, which is a tidal wave induced by an earthquake, sent a wall of water more than 30 feet high and moving at a speed of over 500 miles per hour against the shores of 11 nations. It is truly awesome when we realize what can happen when something as heavy as water, which weighs 8 pounds per gallon, can tower an excess of 30 feet and move as fast as a jetliner. Over 225,000 people are known to be dead, and many others are dying while I write this newsletter. We have all heard the stories of the great and wide-spreaddevastation, which is but a small display of the awesome power of the Almighty. There are many stories of judgment and mercy resulting from the tsunami. In Indias Andhra Pradesh State, 32 people were involved in a moon-worship ceremony when the massive wave picked them up, carried them out to sea, drowned them, and tossed them back on shore dead at their exact place of worship. Another news report told of parents who were missing their 6-month-old baby, so they prayed and cried out to the God of Heaven; and while they were praying, a mattress floated directly to them with their baby lying on it unharmed! The great earthquake and tsunami took place just as the witches sabat of Yule ended and on the very day of the full moon. It is also interesting to note that all of the animals, both small and great, in all eleven of the affected nations had fled the area. (11) The only dead animals ofany kind that were found were those that were confined. I recall reading stories of other earthquake events, such as the great San Francisco quake, where people wondered why all of the animals fled several days in advance of the event. Many people said that it was quiet, and there was an eerie feeling as there were no birds, squirrels, or any other wild animals. Dogs, cats, and other pets that were confined were frantically trying to escape and making continual noise. Scientists have stated that animals must have evolved some kind of a sixth sense, but the truth is that the animals have not lost something that humans, to a great extent, have lost. Animals can still hear the voice of God. It is not instinct, and neither is it possible to evolve a sixth sense. In fact, the response of animals well in advance of a catastrophe proves evolution to be false! In the aftermath of the destruction, there have been aftershocks, flooding, and the constant threat that disease could kill another 100,000 people. (12) In addition to all of the problems with disease, destruction, and burial of the dead, there is the rebuilding effort, the countless billions of dollars of loss, and the continued fears of another such event. This massive quake was estimated to have the force of 500 atomic bombs and literally rattled the earths orbit. (13) The large tectonic plate that moved is so big that it would reach from New York City to St. Louis, Missouri. (14) The force was so great that it caused the earth to wobble at its poles, and according to U.S. Geological Survey expert Ken Hudnut, the map of the world has changed. (15) Satellite images show that islands have been moved out of their places, coastlines have changed, and some islands have completely disappeared. We have also learned that thelarge portion of earth that moved was pulled inward toward the center of its rotation, which has caused the speed of the rotation of the earth to increase. (16) The effect is similar to an ice skater spinning on the ice and then pulling her arms in to go into a fast spin. Thus, time is going faster as measured by the earths rotational velocity. As much as this sounds like a novel by Jules Verne, it is truth and is really happening. Furthermore, we were warned by the Scripture that this would happen. In Isaiah 24:19 we read as follows: "The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it shall fall, and not rise again." We must note that the words "clean dissolved" come from a Hebrew word which means"split open." This is precisely what happened on December 26, 2004.
Global Disruption!Never has there been a time such as this! Never since the days of Noah, have so many people been killed by water. Never have there been so many strange manifestations and fearful sights. Consider the following series of events that occurred in December, 2004: On December 4, 2004, a fireball over New England flashed and exploded. On the 6th, fireballs produced rumbling sounds and explosions over Australia. On the 12th, a ball of fire fell from the sky over Washington, D.C. On the 13th, a massive fireball was seen over Red China, turning night into day. On the 16th, a massive fireball fell into the Salt Lake in Utah. On the 19th, there were many sightings of fireballs over Indonesia. On the 21st, a previously unknown asteroid, now named 2004 YD5 flew past the earth under our satellites. (17) In this new year of 2005, the strange eventscontinue. On January 5th, unexplained bright flashes of light streaked across the night skies of Wisconsin, and this was witnessed by hundreds of people. On January 7th, hundreds of residents of Juneau, Alaska, saw a fiery ball crossing through their sky. On January 12th, a huge fiery ball over India raced to the earth and crashed. (18)It has now been over 3 weeks since the massive quake in the Indian Ocean, and there have been 30 aftershocks as our earth continues to wobble on its axis. (19) The Australian National University has also reported that their instruments indicate that the earth is giving off massive reverberations and is literally ringing like a bell. (20) It is one strange thing after another. In Antarctica, grass is beginning to grow. (21) In New Zealand, icebergs are moving into territorial waters. (22) For the first time in the history of the world, snow has fallen over the United Arab Emirates. (23)
What is Next and How Soon?In the November, 2004, issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, I warned of an imminent tidal wave that will hit the entire eastern seaboard of the United States. This is because there is a volcano in the Canary Islands, and when it quakes and erupts scientists calculate that it will send a wall of water 90 feet high and move at a speed of 500 miles per hour and smash into our coastal cities. Now that such an event has happened in the Eastern Hemisphere, can any thinking person say, "It cant happen here"? Scientists are already warning that it is only a matter of time until the western flank of the Cumbre Vieja Volcano collapses and brings forth this unthinkable event. (24) Only God can help us! We know that the ancient city of Nineveh repented at the preaching of the prophet Jonah and God spared the city. Wouldnt it be awonderful thing if President Bush would sit in sackcloth and ashes and lead the nation in true repentance?
Gross Darkness of Satanic Governance! As the creation continues to groan and travail, we see the powers of the Antichrist moving quickly to establish their satanic one-world government. We know that Satan and his evil spirits are working faster than ever, because they know that they have only a short time. By the time this newsletter is mailed, the Presidential inauguration will be over, and the witchcraft of this occult event will send our nation ever deeper into the realm of spiritual tyranny. In the January, 2005, issue of the Last Trumpet Newsletter, I explained the occult and spiritual side of the inauguration, and that it is the day that witches regard as the transition into Aquarius. In the occult practice of astrology, Aquarius is the 11th sign of the zodiac and the sign of the new age of Lucifer. We also know that in the occult, the number 5 isthe number of death. This 2005 presidential inauguration is the 55th inauguration, and the President will take his omens, which is what "inaugurate" means, while facing the Washington Monument, which is 555 feet high. The dais, which is the raised platform from which the President will be speaking, is surrounded by semi-circular seating, which is designed to look like a mystical Egyptian phoenix with raised wings. (25) The phoenix bird is the symbol of the New Age and New World Order. It has been announced that the President will make a 17-minute speech from this dais, but such speeches mean nothing, because they are written by a speech writer and are not the words of the President. In the earlier days of our country, Presidents wrote their own speeches and thus revealed the words of their own hearts. The inauguration speech is to be given at precisely 12:00 noon. According to witchcraftand astrology, this is the very moment when the sun transits to the 11th sign or Aquarius. It is when the sun moves from ante meridian or A.M. to post meridian or P.M. The Presidents speech is to be one of peace and freedom for the entire world with the inference that he is the man who will bring it to pass. (26) The occult timing and surrounding circumstances of this entire inaugural event is amazing. In the midst of a war and with heavy military presence in Washington, D.C., the President wants to be known as a man of peace. Countless thousands have been killed and are being killed with this so-called "peace." Thus, this man of false peace will begin speaking at the moment Aquarius rises, and Aquarius is the water sign of peace in witchcraft. Recently, nearly 225,000 were killed by water. On January 13, 2005, a round table discussion was held with President Bush. Reporters suggested tothe President that the 40 million dollar price tag for his second inaugural was too much and asked if he would scale it down. Instead of addressing the record high cost, Mr. Bush answered as follows: "The inauguration is a great festival of democracy. People are going to come from all over the country who are celebrating democracy and celebrating my victory, and Im glad to celebrate with them." (27)In a January 12, 2005, interview with Barbara Walters, President Bush admitted that the White House has formally conceded that there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Barbara Walters asked President Bush if the 1,300 military personnel killed in Iraq, and the billions of dollars spent there was worth it. Bush answered, "Oh absolutely!" (28) I wonder if the President would like to gather together the families and loved ones of those dead and the countless thousands of those men andwomen who have had arms, legs, and faces blown off and tell them it was absolutely worth it! Those are not the words of a Christian but of an illuminized mind!President Bush has also begun to reveal his plans for social security which so many Americans depend upon. The Presidents plan will cut promised benefits by nearly 33% in coming years. (29) This is another double cross from a lame duck that cannot be re-elected. We must realize that the high offices of leadership are occupied by elitists that simply dont care about the ones they call "ordinary Americans." These leaders are the "upper crust", and we know that the upper crust is nothing more than a bunch of crumbs held together with a lot of dough! These elitist leaders are members of secret societies such as the Freemasons, Shriners, Skull and Bones, Scroll and Key, the Kahilla, and numerous others. These people rule the world ofignorance from their lofty realm of secrecy. These elitists pontificate in a pan-opticon of imagined superiority. Not only do they have secret meetings so they can play with their secret passwords and secret handshakes, but they are also party animals. Many of the little songs commonly used originated with the lodges of Freemasonry, such as "For Hes a Jolly Good fellow", which marks full entrance to the lodge; and "The Bear Went Over the Mountain. The song, "The Bear Went Over the Mountain is sung when a Freemason retires from business to devote his later years to serve the lodge. As the song says, ".all that he could see was the other side of the mountain." In the highest levels of the esoteric or secret lodges, the Illuminists, including the Skull and Bones, refer to themselves as "wiffenpoofs." There is even a song called "The Wiffenpoof", and the song itself is no secret, becausethey doubt that anybody could figure out the words or would even care enough to connect the meaning to them. The words are as follows: "To the tables down at Morys to the place where Louie dwells, to the dear old Temple Bar we love so well, Sing the wiffenpoofs assembled with their glasses raised on high, and the magic of their singing casts a spell. Yes, the magic of their singing of the songs we love so well, Shall I Wasting and Mavourneen and the rest. We will serenade our Louie while life and voice shall last. Then well pass and be forgotten with the rest. (Chorus) Were poor little lambs who have lost our way, Baa, baa, baa. Were little BLACK SHEEP who have gone astray, Baa, baa, baa, Gentlemen songsters off on a spree, doomed from here to eternity, Lord have mercy on such as we, Baa, baa, baa." These are all worshippers of the Rothschild banking dynasty, which formally launched the Illuminati. This song was first heard at Yale University.
The Shocking Nature of the Beast! As we look around us in these last of the last days, we see a society that has been warped and disfigured by the plan and purpose of the conspirators. We are a nation that is saturated and dripping with immorality, smut, perverted sex, and violence. These are days when you can be arrested for doing good or protected by law for doing evil. A case in point is the arrest of eleven Christians in Philadelphia for quoting the Bible in public at a homosexual event involving the sodomites known as the "Pink Angels." The Christians were jailed, and four of them face up to 47 years in prison and $90,000 in fines for preaching the gospel on a public sidewalk. The Philadelphia police arrested the Christians and charged them with eight crimes under a hate crime provision. They were charged with three felonies: possession of instrumentsof crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality), despite the fact that no riot occurred. (30) I must say that I love my country too much to dare to be proud of it in its current condition. I personally resent the fact that evil forces of government have pulled out from under us the foundation of moral decency, character, and integrity; and in the absence of that foundation, we have a society that persistently wallows in its own filth as it falls headlong toward the fires of eternal damnation! In England it is now illegal to quote from the Bible if such quotes are perceived to be "threatening, abusive, or insulting." This law is covered by the new incitement to religious hatred law and is punishable by up to seven years in jail. (31) For those who were wondering when thetribulation is going to start, perhaps it is time for you to wake up and smell the new world odor! In France a law was passed by Parliament which mandates a one-year prison sentence for anyone who insults homosexuals and women. (32) I think a clear picture is beginning to form. These are the days of Antichrist, and a society and its government are waiting with great expectation for him to appear. The evidence of satanic dominance is everywhere. The British Navy has now declared that Satanists in their navy can now perform satanic rituals on their ships. In a story headlined "Devil Warship", the London Daily Mail says, "The Navy tells the NCO in black robes he can perform his satanic rituals at sea." (33) We also know that our U.S. Military has witch covens on every military base, and that our U.S. Government offers 501c 3 tax exempt status to witch covens as they do to churches.Thetelevisions and movie theaters continue to warp the thinking of people throughout our nation and help to maintain the level of perversion among the masses. Network television programs, such as ABCs Wife Swap, and Fox Networks Trading Spouses, are doing us no good. (34) Now a new program called Point Pleasant presents an attractive young woman who is the daughter of Satan. She uses her seductive and destructive powers to cause every kind of trouble; primarily, the misuse of men. Point Pleasant creator Marti Noxon says, "Weve definitely got the devil on our side." (35)The well-respected magazine, Consumer Reports, which has for many years advised Americans on almost every kind of purchases, has published advice on birth control in its February, 2005, issue. In addition to analyzing various brands of condoms, there is a discussion on other methods of birth control, including a referralto Planned Parenthood to "eliminate uterine contents." Thus, this magazine refers to a living baby in the womb of the mother simply as "uterine contents." (36) It gets worse by the minute, and it is time for every true Christian to rise up and declare the truth of Gods Word that it be not forgotten among men!
The Days of War and False Peace! The war in Iraq and in Afghanistan continues with no real end in sight. Recently, an organization known as the Sunshine Project exposed the Pentagon for their development of bizarre weapons at the U.S. Air Force Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio. It was a $7.5 million project that the Pentagon says they have now abandoned. The weapons included a powerful aphrodisiac that would make enemy soldiers irresistible sexually to each other and induce instant homosexual acts among them. Another weapon was a chemical that would attract hoards of rats and swarms of wasps among the enemy. Yet another chemical weapon was designed to produce severe and lasting halitosis, and another one would make skin unbearably sensitive to sunlight. (37)War continues, and the whole world seems to be a powder keg waiting to bedetonated. The Middle East is a hot spot of continual uncertainty. We have now learned that former Israeli Prime Minister Shimon Peres has proposed that Jerusalem be declared the capital of the world as a way of getting around the continual competing of Israelis and Arabs for the city. Furthermore, the Secretary-General of the United Nations is to be the Mayor of Jerusalem and thus, the Mayor of the capital of the world. (38) This becomes even more intriguing when we realize that former U.S. President Bill Clinton is vying for that position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. In closing, we continue to watch and pray. Only Almighty God can get us through this amazing time, and He most certainly will do it. Please remember Last Trumpet Ministries in your prayers, and please accept my sincerest thanks to all of you who support this end-time ministry in so many ways. All isappreciated. We continue to invite you to send your prayer requests, as they receive individual attention by our teams of intercessors. Grace and peace be multiplied unto you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.David J. MeyerAcknowledgements01. AFP News Service, Dec. 16, 2004, AFP science photo.02. Prison Weekly Feb 26th 2005

Ki Tissa For the week of February 26, 2005 / 17 Adar 5765 Torah: Shemot / Exodus 30:11 - 34:35 Haftarah: 2 Melachim / Kings 18:1-39 A Close Encounter, Torah Style "Moses bowed to the ground at once and worshiped. 'O Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes," he said, "then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance.'" (Shemot / Exodus 34:8,9) This week's portion contains what is perhaps the Torah's greatest encounter between God and any human being. God had told Moses that he was pleased with him, to which Moses responded by asking God to reveal his glory to him. God was willing to partially grant his request, in that he would allow his goodness to pass by Moses and allow him to see his back. Some time later, just as He said, God
passes by Moses. It is impossible for us to fully imagine what this was like, yet we know it had a profound effect on him in that his face was literally shining as a result. I would like to focus on Moses' immediate response to this encounter. Note what he says: "O Lord, if I have found favor in your eyes, then let the Lord go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people, forgive our wickedness and our sin, and take us as your inheritance." Shortly before this was the tragic episode of the people worshipping the golden calf. God had told Moses that due to this sin, he was going to destroy the people. At that time Moses prayed that God would relent, which to some extent he did. Still, the people's rejection of God meant that his presence with them would be in jeopardy. So when God afterward intimately revealed himself to Moses, this was the issue that Moses addressed. His prime concern
was over God's relationship with his people. Moses' cry was that this relationship would be preserved. For Moses, God's revelation was a sign of his favor. It was on the basis of this that he made his plea. Moses understood that Gods continued relationship with the people could only be based on God extending mercy to them. Moses wasn't blind to the sin of the people. He gave no excuses, but asked God to be with them regardless. Notice how he didn't distance himself from the people even though he did not personally participate in the sin of the golden calf. "Forgive our wickedness," Moses said. Also he had no intention of reveling in his personal relationship with God apart from the whole community. For Moses this intense spiritual experience had everything to do with the welfare and destiny of the whole nation. If we look at other similar encounters in the Scriptures, we find this same
correlation between God's revelation to a human being and the wider community. I can't say for sure if it is the encounters themselves that lead to community concern or if it is that God prefers to reveal himself to those who have this concern. I think it is likely both. However it works, we can see that in every case God wants to bring blessing not primarily to the person he is encountering but to others. There is so much to this beyond what we have time for in a brief message, but one thing I think we need to take from this is that we should beware of those who teach a spirituality that is individually centered. While God does want to reveal himself to us individually and personally, no matter how wonderful that is, it is not just for us alone. One of the reasons God desires to encounter us is that he wants to bring his goodness to others through us. Torah Bytes

Ki Tisa (Exodus 30:11-34:35) Family Parsha Ki Tisa 5765 In this week's Torah portion we learn about the special mixture of incense spices that was used in the Tabernacle offerings. An interesting thing is that while most of the spices were very fragrant and pleasant smelling, one of them did not smell nice at all. Yet God told us that it was just as important to include that spice too, and without it, the offering didn't count. This teaches us that we should accept and value parts of the Jewish People -- and parts of ourselves -- that might not seem to be so nice or pleasant. In our story, a kid discovers that there is more to looking good than meets the eye.

THE NOSE JOB As the kids were waiting in the lunch line, Dina, a popular girl and class clown, was doing her usual job of cracking joke after joke after joke, to help her classmates pass the time in line. She had all the kids rolling in the aisles -- all except for 'Serious Susan' -- the kid who never smiled. The truth is that Susan really wasn't as serious as everybody thought. In fact she loved a good joke and would have loved to laugh along with everybody, but what could she do? From the day that she first got her ugly braces, she had decided that nobody was going to see her gross teeth and that was it. After she got her lunch tray, Susan sat down, making sure to keep far away from everyone else so that they wouldn't see her teeth while she ate. She knew it made some of her classmates feel she was a little snobby, but it was still
better than the humiliation of them seeing her smile, which to her looked like the bumper of a pick-up truck. Susan had just taken her first bite, when she felt a tap on the arm. "Well I'm glad at least you didn't throw a pie in my face!" Huh? It was Dina. "Yeah, I could see you didn't like my little 'show' back in the line, so I came to give you your money back." Susan, wanted to laugh at the cute joke -- but didn't, of course. "Oh please don't feel hurt, Dina. I love your jokes," she said. "If you love them so much, how come you never laugh at them or even smile?" Susan could see that Dina really cared, so she decided to share her secret. "You see, it's my teeth. They just look so awful in these braces that I couldn't bear anyone else seeing them." Dina nodded. "I hear you. I used to feel just like that about my ugly nose." Susan didn't get it. As far as she could see, Dina was a
perfectly fine looking kid, and everybody thought so. Thanks for the sympathy, Dina," she said, "but please don't joke about this. You know it's not the same because there is nothing wrong with your nose. You look absolutely fine." "That's only because I gave myself a 'nose job.'" "You mean you had an operation on your nose?" Susan asked in surprise. "Well, yes and no. I just decided to stop letting the way I looked bother me, and start being myself, crooked nose and all. Then, when it stopped bothering me, it just seemed to stop bothering everyone else too. It was like I gave myself a nose job!" "But Dina, your nose isn't crooked!" protested Susan. "Fooled you too, eh? Take a good look." she turned her head sideways and sure enough, Dina had a really crooked nose! Susan had never even noticed it before. "See! And you can do the same thing with your teeth. Once you stop worrying about
them, and just be your regular smiling self, braces or no braces, you'll not only feel better -- but look better too. So how about coming over and joining us? I promise not to make you crack up, unless of course you want to." Susan began to smile at Dina's quip. She was about to stop herself as usual, but this time didn't. It felt funny to show her teeth, but it also felt good. The two of them walked over to the table full of kids and sat down. The kids were a little surprised to see 'Serious Susan' join them. Dina began her usual comedy routine. Susan controlled herself for a while, but then when Dina shot a particularly funny look her way, she first smiled, then giggled, then burst into the biggest, warmest sunniest laugh her friends had ever seen. The next day Susan had become one of the gang. A couple of kids had even said to her how great she looked. "How you doing Smiling Susan?"
quipped Dina from the line. "Great, thanks to you -- the joking dentist who helped me fix my teeth by accepting myself." Aish.com

Mission Update: Proverbs 28:20 A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Friday we had special guests. We had a Family drive up from WI. They have been donating things like blankets, gloves, hats, and monetary donations for the last couple of years. When the latest van problems started, they were considering donating their vehicle, a 1990 Chevy Suburban to the Ministry. When this was put to them by the Lord they had not been reading email for week so did not know we were in need. Anyway she put it to the Lord that there would have to be an email that we needed it before she would donate. She then read her emails and of course the need was there. It drives almost like a new vehicle. In a
van I can only hold 6 passengers legally and the same amount in this. So this is a great Blessing. It is also a 4 wheel drive and if it snows it will not keep me from safe trips to town. We will put the other van up for sale to try and get some of the money we put in it out of it. The Other van was a blessing as it got me by until this came through. It would have been very hard without it!
They also donated I think it was $2,800 which will catch some things up and give two months radio. I hope you are catching the radio programs. we are having some very good guests. Here are a few new programs up in the archives. Notice their emails are there so you can email them about the programs and if you would like to hear them come back. In Yeshua's Name, Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch

Shalom In Yeshua Messiah Kathy made eight dozen egg sandwhiches Friday and they served dozens of donuts with a varity of milk, coffee, water and tea. Together we made some very good golush, potatoes-n- green beans, bread-n- butter, for dinner. I also make a chocolate cake swirled with yellow cake and chocolate frosting for the two who had birthdays Friday. We had special visitors from WI who came to meet us, help at the Mission but mainly drove down to bring us a 1990 suburban. We had planned on replacing my van with it since we just got the Ford van but it is much to big so it is now the "church on wheels". The Ford will be sold for the money we put into it and I am planning on gettin a car but will wait on Yahweh to show me what I should get. These people are very nice people they have been suppoters in all areas of our Ministry works. They even brought along a donation
from their son that totalled 2835.00 with specific details for what the money should be used for. Praise be to Yahweh for He suppies the needs. Now that I have told you that I will tell you that all the present Mission bills have been paid, both newsletters have been paid for, one went out Friday the other will go this coming Friday. The radio is paid for two months, The Mission was stocked with the needed supplies. The food account recieved a portion of the money and we have gas for the next few trips. We will be open tomorrow because it is Presidents day and everything else is closed. Please pray about what you can do to help these works. We are in need of clothing mostly mens but also women and childrens. We need personal products and cold medicines, Bibles are low I think we have ten left. be sure to tune into the Radio programs there have been some really good ones the past few
weeks and Pastor Dan has some great guest lined up. Visit the web site for the listings and listen to one of the programs in Archive. Brother Frank made a really nice commercial for Messiah's Branch only flaw was the email address says elem@kans.com

Last weeks Answer:James 2:1-10 1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons. 2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment; 3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool: 4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts? 5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by
the which ye are called? 8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: 9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Find This Passage: For every high priest taken from among men is ordained for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins: Who can have compassion on the ignorant, and on them that are out of the way; for that he himself also is compassed with infirmity. And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins. And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron. So also Christ
glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee. As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec. Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
