Prison Weekly July 2nd 2005

For the week of July 2, 2005 / 25 Sivan 5765 Torah: Bemidbar / Numbers 16:1 - 18:32 Haftarah: 1 Samuel 11:14 - 12:22 Buried Alive "As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, with their households and all Korah's men and all their possessions. They went down alive into the grave, with everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone from the community." (Bemidbar / Numbers 16:31- 33) Central to the community life of the people of Israel was a structure called the Mishkan (English: Tabernacle). It was there that sacrifices and other religious activities were performed. Though God had appointed the whole tribe of Levi to serve in the Mishkan, there were certain duties that were the exclusive responsibility of those designated as priests. Only the descendants of Aaron, who himself was a Levite, were eligible to be priests. The rest of Levi assisted the priests in the service of the Mishkan. A group of Levites led by certain men named Korah, Dathan and Aviram, challenged the leadership of Moses and Aaron, claiming it was wrong to give Aaron's descendants exclusive rights to the priesthood. In actuality they were challenging God himself, for this had been God's decision, not that of Moses and Aaron. Because Korah, Dathan and Aviram had treated God with contempt, God punished them by causing the ground to swallow them up. Obviously treating God with contempt is a serious matter. Their attitude demonstrated a total disregard for who God is - the consequences of which are nothing less than total destruction. Reading this story, it is difficult to determine whether the men's contempt was truly toward God or if it was directed toward Moses and Aaron. Their words sound as if they were challenging Moses and Aaron. But Moses said that they were actually showing contempt towards God. As the story goes, the way in which they met their doom confirms Moses' assessment. In our day God is also treated with contempt - contempt that is often veiled behind all sorts of attitudes and actions. But it is contempt of God none the less. God's ways are ignored, challenged, and belittled by all sorts of people who should know better. They think that God either doesn't see what they are doing or is powerless to do anything about it. They will even use a story like this one to help justify their contempt. Since the ground has not swallowed them up (nor have they been hit by lightning, nor experienced any other disaster), they think they are getting away with turning their backs on God. But maybe the ground has swallowed them up figuratively that is. How many people are consumed by their circumstances? Claiming to be in control of their lives, they are actually buried under the cares of the world or enslaved by the very things in which they believed they would find true life. The good news is that even if this is our current situation, there is hope. Unlike Korah, Dathan and Aviram, who lost any opportunity for restoration, as long as we have breath, God will receive us, if we turn to him. Torah Bytes

Korach (Numbers 16-18) Family Parsha Korach 5765 It's great to have fun. But having fun doesn't mean making fun of things that should be taken seriously. In this week's Torah portion, Korach was able to convince people to do improper and harmful things, with very unfortunate consequences, by mocking and making fun of Moses' and Aaron's wise and caring leadership. Sarcastic mockery can make us lose control of ourselves, and say and do destructive things we'll later regret.

"GOING OVERBOARD"

Anyone who heard us coming must have thought he was listening to a comedy show instead of a group of kids on a nature hike. But what could we do? Janet was hilarious. At first, she began making fun of the names of the different plants and animals Donna, our guide, was describing. We couldn't help giggling when she asked her what color the gray fox was, and we really cracked up after the guide pointed out some Sycamore trees, and Janet said she was 'sick-of-more' trees too, and wished we could all just go home. When she asked her where the next Coke machine was on the trail, I thought I was going to lose it. The guide tried to smile and go along, but you could tell she wasn't crazy about Janet's constant heckling. After a while, Janet began to make fun of the rules Donna was giving us. When she requested that we only walk on the trail, Janet said behind her back that it must be because she didn't want us to get the woods dirty with the mud from our hiking boots. And when we had to wait in line after she told us only one kid at a time could walk across the shaky rope ladder going across a stream, Janet said she just wanted to slow us down because she was getting paid by the hour.Deep down I knew it wasn't nice to make fun of someone like that, but let's face it, the kid was funny and it was hard to keep from laughing. The jokes kept going on and on, and by the time we got to the lake, Janet had us in the palm of her hand. Somehow, she made it seem like everything the guide would say or do, no matter how serious, was just hilariously funny. We could tell that all the wisecracks and our constant cracking up was getting the guide upset, but we just couldn't stop ourselves."Okay everybody," said Donna, "now we're going to canoe across the lake.""What, you mean we're not going to walk across it?" quipped Janet. Laughingly, she and I teamed up together in one of the canoes."Everybody remember to tie on your life jacket, and whatever you do, don't stand up in your canoe!" warned the guide as we began to paddle out into the water. Fortunately, we were far enough away by then that she didn't hear us crack up at Janet's sarcastic reply. The lake was really pretty, and the sun reflecting on the calm water made it look like glass. "Too bad I forgot to bring my camera," I sighed."No sweat, Sarah, I've got mine," smiled Janet as she pulled the small digital out of her knapsack. "Okay, stand up for a second so I can get a good shot of you.""Hey, what are you talking about? The guide told us that standing up in the canoe can make it tip and cause us fall in the water!"Janet just rolled her big blue eyes and said, "No, you got it wrong, Sarah. She said anyone who doesn't give HER a tip will fall in the water. Go ahead, pop up for a second, and let me take your picture."We laughed so hard I thought I was going to drop my paddle, and the joking somehow made it feel okay for me stand up, even though the guide had warned us it was dangerous."Okay, say 'cheesecake'!" Janet yelled, pointing the camera my way. All of the sudden the boat began to rock, and suddenly there was a big SPLASH!! Before we knew it, both of us were in the freezing cold water and the canoe was upside down!It was really scary, and it was a struggle to stay above water even with the life jacket on. Janet, who didn't even listen to the instructions to tie on her life jacket, was trying to hold onto the overturned canoe, and crying hysterically. Suddenly we felt ourselves scooped up into a rowboat."Boy was that dumb!" Donna yelled, shaking her head. "Lucky for you, I saw you starting to stand up and began rowing in your direction. In water like this, there could have been a real tragedy." She glared at us. "I suppose you'll just laugh this off too, like everything else I've been trying to tell you all day?"Janet and I looked at each other, ashamed. Laughing was the last thing on either of our minds, as we realized it was all the sarcastic joking that made us ignore her serious instructions and do something so foolish."I'm really sorry," said Janet, still shaken up. "You were doing your job and trying to help us. My joking was out of line and way overboard," she added with a weak smile, "in more ways than one." Aish.com

Mission Updates:2 Corinthians 8:9 For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, You know I was so sadded by the man who asked for to go plates for his children..he has 5 at home. I gave him 5 beef dawgs on buns but felt real bad as I had no food box to give him. Yes there are agencies but many let you come only once monthly. Also they most generally make you be referred by someone else. It is not and easy thing being poor, out of work and no transportation. More peopel in WIchita have just been laid off while others unemployment has ran out! You can also send socks, blankets underwear, tooth brushes with pates all teh things you take as normal needs they are desperate for. Please help them! We really need you to pray about if you are supposed to be helping this work? You now we are just a home Church with a building and a mission that the Lord put us on. So really even small donations help. The Food account is empty or almost and we need donations for bills, gas ( which is going back up ) Please pray about it! The LORD bless thee and keep thee; The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. (peace)Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24-26 In Yeshua's Name, Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch Shalom In Yeshua our Messiah, Kathy made nine and a half dozen egg and cheese sandwiches Friday served with dozens of donuts coffee, ice tea ,water and a variety of milks. I made spahgetti garlic toast and a mix of sliced potatoes, diced carrots and green beans for dinner. We had the same for our Sabbath meal with seconds and go plates everything was eaten. We had a donation of three cases of Ramen noodles, eight dozen eggs and a box of velvetta type cheese come in from the Christian Motorcycle Association in Harvey county. I made a food box for a disabled friend whom had his electric disconnected and had not eaten in over three days. We could use all those canned goods you have in your cubboards collecting dust many are in need of food. There was a family that came in late to eat who had two small children with them ages 3 and 7 they even stayed for Sabbath service we had several stay for service this week. I gave them a box of donuts, three gals of milk and two large go plates full of spahgetti. I was talking with the mother and ask do you guys live close and she said well actually we are sleeping in our car. I said how are you going to keep the milk cold then and she said they would take it to her mothers where her baby was staying. Her mother only has a studio apartment so there was no room for them or their other two children. This is happening to so many people it is so very sad. The electric an gas bills came in and are due on the 6th Yahweh will provide. The newsletter will go to print on Tuesday and be mailed out on Wednesday. The food account recieved a donation so it is doing fine for now. Yahweh will provide however He uses His people to do it so we do ask that you all pray about weather your suppose to help and be lead by Him. Kathy's knee is doing very well but she is going through some very difficult things in her personal life right now so I ask that you lift her up in prayer for strenght, comfort and guidence. I need you to pray the same for Sarina and I as we are also being put through the fire in our personal lives. I am having some very difficult times with the new management at my job of seven years four and a half months. The new general mananger is a twenty three year old whom I have worked with for seven years. I made the mistake about three years ago of giving him some documented truth about the catholic religion and it turned out that he is catholic. My husband told me to stop ministering to him because this was my job and it would cause me nothing but grief so I told him I could no longer talk religion with him because it would interfear with my job and cause problems. Little did I know that three years later he would become my boss and now he is taking revenge on me for the truths about his religion he can not accept. LONG STORY I will not go into but you can see the picture by what I have told you so please hold me in prayer to listen to Yahweh and do HIS will in this not mine. It seems that the more good we do the more comes at us please hold us up in prayer to be strong and to DO HIS WILL in all of our LIVES as that is our true mission to DO HIS WILL. Thank you all who support His works there are always so many needs so I will ask you to just pray to Yahweh and be led by HIM to DO HIS WILL. more on the Mission next update:

Last Weeks Answer:Luke 22:14-23 14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him. 15 And he said unto them, With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16 For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. 17 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves: 18 For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come. 19 And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me. 20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 21 But, behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table. 22 And truly the Son of man goeth, as it was determined: but woe unto that man by whom he is betrayed! 23 And they began to enquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing. Find This Passage:1 And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. 3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. 4 Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. 5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. 6 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. 7 And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; 8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. 9 Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. 10 Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. 11 Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. 12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. 13 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. 14 And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; 15 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: 18 I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. 21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. 22 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Prison Weekly June 25th 2005

Shela Lekha For the week of June 25, 2005 / 18 Sivan 5765 Torah: Bemidbar/ Numbers 13:1 - 15:41 Haftarah: Joshua 2:1-24 Avoiding Fear "If the LORD is pleased with us, he will lead us into that land, a land flowing with milk and honey, and will give it to us. Only do not rebel against the LORD. And do not be afraid of the people of the land, because we will swallow them up. Their protection is gone, but the LORD is with us. Do not be afraid of them." (Bemidbar / Numbers 14:8,9) Everyone experiences fear. Fear can be a good thing. It prevents us from being unnecessarily harmed. We often call this kind of fear, "healthy fear". It is the kind of fear that keeps us from playing in traffic or from touching a hot stove. So fear in and of itself is not a bad thing. It is designed as an early warning system to help protect us when danger is near. The problem with fear is that it doesn't know how to gauge reality. All it can do is bring us into a state of alarm, as it calls us to activate our natural defenses. It is up to us, then, to determine those things which legitimately merit a fearful response and those things which do not. While it would be nice if we could only engage in healthy fear, I would guess that most of us from time to time are unnecessarily afraid. How many opportunities in life have we missed due to unreasonable fear? The people of Israel in this week's Torah portion failed miserably because of fear. They had the opportunity to possess the Promised Land, but were too afraid. As a result they had to remain in the wilderness for another 38 years until that whole generation died out. There are many life situations in which fear might be a reasonable reaction, if it weren't for others factors. Take riding in an elevator as an example. Imagine seeing a sky scraper for the first time. You stand on the sidewalk and are awestruck by this enormous structure that reaches beyond the clouds. You are then told that you will be going to the 102nd floor. You will be transported while crammed into a small room with about 20 other people, pulled by a metal chord. If you really thought about it, that's pretty scary, unless you also understood how elevators are made and that they have very thorough and well- tested safety systems. Many things in life are like that. At some level we encounter danger constantly. The air contains deadly viruses that could kill us, except for the effectiveness of our immune systems. Fire and electricity can be very harmful, but if we handle them properly we have nothing to fear. The rise of terrorism in our day has threatened air travel. That is why our governments have raised the standard of security in our airports. Avoiding fear is not about denying danger. It is putting danger into perspective. Entering the Promised Land was a dangerous proposition. Yet God, who had already proven himself to the people, said he would help them. That is why they had nothing to fear. In order to avoid fear, we need to understand that we do not need to be controlled by it. For people who feel trapped by fear, that may be difficult to accept. Yet "do not fear" or words to that effect are found in the Bible over 80 times. To avoid fear, we must choose not to fear. I want to point out as well that fear works differently in different people. For some, fear is a very noticeable emotion that might be felt in one's body in a variety of ways, whether it be an uneasy stomach, shaking hands or legs, shortness of breath, or a quickly beating heart. But fear can be present without any of these. Some people's fears keep them from ever considering anything too risky or frightening. Therefore they don't feel fear, even though they are very afraid of many things. At some level many of our societies live in a constant state of fear. We have developed whole ways of living based on protecting ourselves from all sorts of perceived dangers. If we would realize how real God is and that we can do anything he calls us to do, I wonder what our lives would be like. TorahBytes

Shlach (Numbers 13-15) Family Parsha Shlach 5765 Did you hear the latest rumor? No? Good for you! Because when it comes to rumors, especially negative ones, we shouldn't believe everything we hear. In this week's Torah portion, the men who were sent to scout out the land of Israel came back spreading false negative rumors. The people made the mistake of believing them and were afraid to go into the land even though God promised them everything would be fine. Consequently, they had to wander in the wilderness for an extra 40 years, and we are still paying the price for that mistake until today. We'll save ourselves a lot of unnecessary grief by making it a point to stay optimistic and view things positively until proven otherwise - and that's not just a rumor. In our story, a kid has to decide what to do about a rumor that comes flying his way.

"UNBELIEVABLE!"

Josh Kramer's muscles ached as he put back his books, and pulled out his well-worn baseball glove from his locker after a long day of classes. Yesterday's baseball try-outs had been a killer, but he figured all the effort would be worth it if it would land him a position on the school team. He quickly put on his sweat jacket, flipped his locker closed and was about to dash off to the baseball field when he nearly crashed into his buddy, Greg, who, unlike Josh, had been on the team last year. "Hey Josh, where are you off to in such a rush?" "Where do you think? The same place as you are - back for the second day of try-outs. Today they're giving out the team assignments and coach said anybody who doesn't show up is automatically cut from the team." He had expected Greg to smile, and go along with him, but instead the boy just looked at him and sadly shook his head. "I hate to break it to you, man. But I guess you didn't hear..." "Hear what?" Josh asked with growing concern. Well, after the try-outs I hung around with some of the guys I knew from last year's team. And everybody's saying that the since so many kids tried out this year, the coach isn't picking anyone new, and is only letting people back on the team who were on it last year." Josh felt his face flushing red. Had he put in all that effort yesterday for nothing? "So that means, I'm sorry to say, that I'm in - and you're out," Greg continued just to make sure Josh got the point. "So you might as well save yourself the sweat and just go home." With that, Greg turned on his heels and started heading toward the field, leaving Josh in open-mouthed shock. That stinks! Josh thought to himself. It's so unfair! But Greg seems to know what he's talking about. Josh glumly tossed his baseball glove back into his locker, now feeling his aching muscles more than ever, and got ready for the long trek home. He didn't get far when he had second thoughts. He had worked so hard yesterday, and now because of some dumb rumor, was he going to give up any chance he had to make the team? Maybe Greg had gotten it wrong. Maybe there was a chance he'd at least make the junior team. With a new burst of energy, Josh grabbed his glove and ran out to the field. Would he be too late? He got there just as the coach was reading off the names of the kids who made the team. He joined the line-up and caught Greg's eye as his friend gave him a sharp look. But Josh's heart sank as the coach read name after name. It looked like the rumor had been true after all, because the coach finished reading off the whole junior team roster and while Greg had made it, just like he said he would, Josh's name was nowhere to be found. He felt a hard slap on the back. "I told you man, you didn't have to waste your time. Well there's always next year, right?" Greg said with an 'I-told-you-so' smile.By now, the coach was listing off the more advanced senior team, but Josh was too down to even bother listening. He started packing up to leave when he felt a tug on his sleeve. It was a kid he didn't know. "You're Josh Kramer, right?""Yeah, so?""So..." said the kid with a smile, "go over to the coach! Didn't you hear him just call your name for the senior team roster?"Josh couldn't believe it, but the amazed look he got from Greg proved it was true. "Unbelievable," Greg said."Just unbelievable!" Josh agreed.Unbelievable - that he had made the team, and even more so that he hadn't blown it by believing the rumor, which had in the end proved to be un-believable.Aish.com

Mission Updates:David Is Back Luke 15:4 What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? And when he hath found it, he layeth it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he cometh home, he calleth together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them, Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, David has been gone for sometime. He lives under a bridge and has been gone for over 6 months. He came back last Friday with Bible in hand! You see he used to not miss a Sabbath service. But about 6 months or so ago he just up and disappeared. We have prayed for him searched for him etc. Well He is back now. He has spent some time with his family and his mother just passed away. But He is back. Now. If I had my choice I would have had hoped he would have stayed with family and he will tell me more as time goes on. David has been coming to use for 4 years and the last about two years to Sabbath. We love him so much! My heart is deeply troubled. Summer finances have been very low. If I could have gotten the newsletter out we have been doing for 122 months, then this month's support would have been in. But at the last of the month of May support fell off. I had been getting $1000 a month for three months in a row from a Large ministry but they cut back because of summer coming. Well the Spirit told me all along not to count on it. I had planned the newsletter money out of it. So I repent I should have listened and taken and put other monies back for the newsletter. So I repent of that. But money was put to good use, I just planned newsletter money out of where I should not have and that caused this month's money crunch. Also donations have been down on the net. Maybe I should not be so open about it because when I say donations are way down...It seems like many cut back. When I say they are up they seem to come up all the way around....something to take to prayer as all things are. As now gas for Friday is not good right now. You see we have no personal funds to rely on for His work. We put out money in the first of the month by paying rent which is over our 10% that is called for. He will provide and the ministry needs will be met....In His timing....we even have some Bill not paid yet! The Ministry needs are, the Newsletter $311.( I pray I got that right, mom does the Bills but I am very close if not right ) Gas we have about 5 trips left this month and gas not for one right now, some Bills ( mom's department ) food account? So that $1000 I did not get would take up the slack. But it shows I should not depend on any certain source but the Lord as I do 90% of the time. Not complaining about the ministry they have helped a bunch, It is my fault for hearing and not doing.... I am so glad the Sabbath is coming I can rest from the World. Pray about the poor in your area! Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. The LORD bless thee and keep thee; The LORD make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. Psalms 37:14 - The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation. Friday Sarina started making the sandwiches and I took over when I arrived. Kathy had surgury on her knee Thursday and will be down for a few weeks. She is doing good and has her son staying with her to help with her needs until she gets back on her feet. We made 61/2 dozen egg and cheese sandwiches, served dozens of donuts served with coffee, ice tea and water through out the day. We handed out cheese crackers, candy bars and pop cycles to all who came. For dinner I made some hamburger gravy with ground round and served it open face on hambuger buns with a mix of corn, green beans and sliced potatoes on the side. For Sabbath dinner we had smoked turkey sandwiches, macaroni salad and corn chips. The newsletter has still not went to print and there are a few bills that need to be paid. The food accout is really low and after I get the beef dogs and chips for Tuesday's dinner it will be busted, Yahweh will supply we have no doubt about that but He needs His people as vesels to provide. All we ask is that all of you pray about supporting these works and be lead by the Father He will tell you if your a vessel He chooses to use to provide these needs. We were blessed Friday by the drop in center with a big donation of go plates and several different types of cups. Last Weeks Answer:1 Samuel 2:12-26 12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the LORD. 13 And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand; 14 And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither. 15 Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw. 16 And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force. 17 Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the LORD: for men abhorred the offering of the LORD. 18 But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod. 19 Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice. 20 And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The LORD give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the LORD. And they went unto their own home. 21 And the LORD visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the LORD. 22 Now Eli was very old, and heard all that his sons did unto all Israel; and how they lay with the women that assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 23 And he said unto them, Why do ye such things? for I hear of your evil dealings by all this people. 24 Nay, my sons; for it is no good report that I hear: ye make the LORD's people to transgress. 25 If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the LORD, who shall intreat for him? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the LORD would slay them. 26 And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.

Find This Passage:14 And when the hour was come, he sat down, and the twelve apostles with him.

Prison Weekly June 18th 2005

Be-Ha'alotkha For the week of June 18, 2005 / 11 Sivan 5765 Torah: Bemidbar / Numbers 8:1 - 12:16 Haftarah: Zechariah 2:14 - 4:7 God-directed Freedom "Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent, the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped. At the LORD's command the Israelites set out, and at his command they encamped. As long as the cloud stayed over the tabernacle, they remained in camp." (Bemidbar / Numbers 9:17,18) It would be difficult to overstate how hard a transition it must have been for the people of Israel when they left Egypt. Because of their slavery, almost everything about their lives would have been set for them by their masters. What they did and when they did it was not in their control. The Egyptians ruled their lives. Once they were freed, everything changed for them. They were now on their way to possess their God-given inheritance in the land of Canaan. They would have much to learn on the way. In order for Israel to be the blessing to the nations that they were destined to be, they needed to learn how to discern God's will and follow it regardless of their situation. They would face many challenging situations in which God would consistently prove himself to be true and faithful. In the wilderness God provided a cloud to guide the people. This cloud, which could be seen from anywhere in the camp, covered the special place of worship called the Mishkan (English: Tabernacle). From time to time the cloud would move. This would indicate that the nation should break camp and head out. Then they would follow the cloud to the next place. This was the procedure they followed for the forty years until they entered Canaan. The people never knew beforehand when the cloud would begin to move, where it would lead them, nor how long it would stay in one place. We see through this God desired to determine Israel's movements. Israel's release from bondage therefore did not mean that they could do whatever they wanted or go wherever they wished. To some of us this might seem negative. This may be because we place such a high value on self determination. For some people freedom is the opportunity to do anything and everything we desire with no restrictions. But the Bible teaches us that this kind of lifestyle is actually destructive. It is only as we give ourselves over to God's direction that we can discover what true freedom is all about. Israel was to take the lesson of the cloud with them into the Promised Land. For even though they would no longer need the cloud to guide them, they would still need to continue to follow Gods direction. It would only be as they did so, that they would become the blessing God intended them to be. The same is true for all of us. We may not have a literal cloud to guide us today, yet God still uses various ways to lead us. It is only as we become sensitive to his direction that we will live in freedom. TorahBytes

Be'halot'cha (Numbers 8-12) Family Parsha Be'halot'cha 5765

Jumping off a cliff is dangerous for sure. But there is another type of jumping that is even more dangerous: jumping to conclusions about someone's behavior and putting him down, without knowing all the facts. In this week's Torah portion, Miriam, Moses' sister, unjustifiably criticized him to their brother, Aaron, because she was not aware of the fact of how great a prophet he was. We can learn from here to give people the benefit of the doubt and not be any quicker to jump to negative conclusions than we would be to jump off a cliff. In our story some kids learn the hard way why it's a good idea to give people the benefit of the doubt.

"TAKING A BACK SEAT"

Volunteering at the county hospital rehabilitation center had been one of the most rewarding experiences Wendy and her friend, Jan, had ever had. They were happy to be able to lend a hand and make a difference in people's lives. It was always interesting work, but today promised to be especially fun since their assignment was to join the staff on an outing with a group of patients to a park across town. The girls got on the crowded public bus and settled comfortably in their seats when a group of three elderly ladies got on. Seeing there were no more places for them to sit down, Wendy tapped her friend on the shoulder. "Hey let's give them our seats," she said. "It's not a long ride and I'm sure it will be easier for us to stand than it will be for them." Jan readily agreed, and the two of them got up and offered their seats to two of the grateful staff people. A few seats behind them sat a girl about their age. Wendy figured she was another volunteer. The girls assumed that when they got up for the older people, this kid would take the hint and let the third elderly lady sit down. But somehow she didn't get it, because even though the old lady was standing almost right next to her, the kid didn't budge. As the bus started moving Wendy and Jan grew more and more annoyed at the pitiful sight of the elderly person who was obviously not having such an easy time standing, while the healthy young volunteer sat comfortably with her face buried in a magazine as if she couldn't care less. It just wasn't right. Sure, it was more comfortable to sit, but they had given up their seats, why couldn't this kid too? "Boy, it must be hard for older people to stand in a bus," Wendy commented to her friend, making sure to raise her voice loud enough that the kid sitting down would hear. Jan got the hint. "You know it's really proper manners to give up your seat to older people, isn't it?" she said in a loud voice. By this time, the kid realized they were talking about her and started squirming uncomfortably. But apparently she didn't feel too uncomfortable, because she just stayed put in her seat. By now the girls were amazed at this kid's insensitivity. She seemed determined to sit comfortably and let the elderly staff person suffer, no matter what. But Wendy and Jan weren't ready to give up so easily - not when they were so sure that they were in the right. "It seems that some people never learn manners and only care about themselves," said Wendy, this time looking straight at the girl, in a loud enough voice that the heads of some of the other passengers began to turn and notice what was going on. More people started to give the young girl who remained seated some dirty looks, and even began muttering amongst themselves about her lack of respect. The kid was turning red from embarrassment. But still, she kept her eyes glued to the window and refused to get up! 'What nerve!' the girls thought as the bus began slowing down. They had arrived at the park. "Well at least now that poor lady will be able to sit down!" Wendy said to Jan as they got down from the bus. Everyone started to walk into the park for the picnic as the girls turned around to give one final look of disapproval at the girl who refused to give up her seat. But she was nowhere to be found. Just then, they noticed one of the assistants climbing back onto the bus with a folded wheelchair in his arms. A moment later he was wheeling the chair back down a special ramp, with that young girl sitting inside it. Wendy looked at Jan and cringed. The kid wasn't a volunteer after all - she was a patient! She was wearing two serious looking leg braces that they hadn't been able to see when she was sitting in the bus. No wonder the kid hadn't stood up - she couldn't! "Oh no! What did we do?!" Wendy exclaimed as she surveyed the park for any convenient rock to crawl under. "I feel horrible!" Jan cried. "We're here to help the patients, not embarrass them to tears!" Wendy nodded her head in shame. "From now on no more jumping to conclusions about people. We've got some work to do - starting with a huge apology and some begging for forgiveness." Aish.com

1 And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him: for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord: Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Naso Bring Blessings to the Children of Israel

Sandwiched between the Leviim (Levites) and the Nasiim (Princes) we find the three odd guests seated at the same table. 1) The Sota, 2) The Nazir, and 3) The Priestly Blessing! Why are these fellows clustered together? How is our life improved by appreciating their proximity to each other? The first part of the question is partially explained by Rashi, "Why is the subject of the Nazir juxtaposed to the subject of the Sota? In order to teach you that whoever sees the Sota in her hour of disgrace should become a Nazir!" The wondrous question is, "Why should a person need to accept a more strict spiritual regimen if they had witnessed justice being meted out to someone who had misbehaved? Just the opposite is true. The one who saw with his own eyes the tragic results of devious and defiant behavior should be automatically strengthened and less in need of the spiritual enrichment program of the Nazir. To begin with, here are four approaches: 1) If they saw it, it relates to them. Whatever we see is like a heavenly E-Mail. Who can afford to ignore that? If one hears about a divorce, it is at least a clear warning to others to reinforce their marriages. 2) When we hear that a criminal is caught, what is learned is something more than the lesson that "crime doesn't pay!" That "fools get caught" is another valid voice competing in the dark part of our psyche. 3) That such a barrier has been broken and sacred ground encroached leaves us all diminished and at risk. A behavior once perceived as impossible to approach is now seen as real and negotiable. 4) We are sensitive and affected by our environment and we wish to remain so. If we become overly toughened to events that offend our sensibilities then we risk being callous to the healthy experiences of our lives. Maybe now we can try to understand why the "Priestly Blessing" follows and fits so well. One of my teachers was happily skipping home on Simchas Torah with his then young family. They were singing a lively tune to the words, "Olam Haba is a guta zach...Learning Torah is a besser zach..." (The next world is a good thing...Learning Torah is a better thing..." His four- year old daughter interrupted the parade and asked her father in all earnest, "Abba, what's Olam Haba-The Next World?" He knew he had to address her question on a level she could comprehend. He asked her what the most delicious thing in the world was, thinking that if she said chocolate, then he would tell her it's tons of chocolate and if she said marshmallows then he'd tell her how many marshmallows. She gave a most surprising answer, though. "Davening-Praying!" He asked her where she had learned that. She was not yet in school and all she said was, "Mommy!" He was then able to piece the puzzle together. Where and how had she learned such a noble thing? After the morning rush, when all the older brothers and sisters are sent off to the bus, the mother sits with her daughter to eat some breakfast. The mother has her coffee and honey bun and the daughter, her chocolate milk and the same. This is a scrumptious moment. Afterward, the mother approaches a blank wall, siddur in hand and prays. The child notices the looks of excruciating and sublime joy on her face as she turns her heart to The Creator. The child measures, intuitively, remembering the sweetness of the breakfast goodies comparing the facial expressions when it was only food and not prayerful words in her mom's mouth. Naturally she concludes one experience must be far superior to the other. "Davening" The "Priestly Blessing" finds itself in the company of the lessons of the Sota and the Nazir? (i.e. the dangers of undisciplined living and the urgent need to recover.) Happy are those who don't spend their lives reacting only to negative stimuli but rather place themselves in the nurturing and inspiring company of those who living up to their leadership role, bring blessings to the Children of Israel. Torah.org Rabbi Label Lam

Naso (Numbers 4:21-7:89) Family Parsha Naso 5765 Following instructions in order to learn a valuable skill isn't limiting - it's liberating. On Shavuot, we celebrate the day God gave us the Torah on Mount Sinai. The Torah is God's 'instructions for living,' an all-inclusive guide to help us develop the skill of living and enjoying life to the fullest. Therefore, when we celebrate Shavuot, we are not only commemorating a historic event, but celebrating the receiving of a gift of ancient, yet timeless wisdom that can powerfully enhance our lives every day. In our story, a kid discovers that sometime what looks like giving up some freedom can really be the key to much more freedom.

"HITTING A HIGH NOTE"

"I don't know if we're good, but at least we're loud!" laughed Gary, yelling over racket coming from the amplified pair of electric guitars. He and his friend, Rob, decided to form a two-man band to play some of their favorite music together. Neither of them really knew how to play an instrument, but that didn't stop them from jamming away, turning Gary's garage into their 'studio' and treating the neighborhood to two hours of off-key tunes every afternoon - all at top volume. One day the boys were in the middle of a particularly grating jam session when they heard what sounded like a drum beat coming from the garage door. Soon enough they realized it wasn't a drum - it was someone knocking loudly. "Oh, oh," Gary said. "We're in trouble now. That's probably old Mr. Isaacs from next door. I'll bet we woke him up from his nap and he's coming to yell at us." Gary nervously opened the door. It was Mr. Isaacs all right. He looked tired, but not particularly angry. "Boys, I see you love music," he said with a sigh. "I can understand that, because I love music too. In fact, you don't know it, but many years ago I used to be a professional jazz musician." The boys looked at each other in wide-eyed surprise, as the older man went on. "I didn't come here to ask you to stop playing, but rather to make a deal with you. How about once or twice a week you come over to my house and I'll give you free music lessons. I think a little instruction will help you enjoy playing your music more, and..." he added with a wink, "might just help your neighbors enjoy it more, too." It sounded good to the boys, and they showed up the next day, as planned with their instruments in tow. Mr. Isaacs patiently sat with them and gave them some exercises to practice, assuring them that if they followed his instructions carefully they would soon be making beautiful music together. A couple of days later, Gary stopped by Rob's place to pick him up for the next music lesson set for that evening. But his friend balked. "I'm not going," Rob said. "Why not?" "The lessons are too restricting. I just want to jam the way I feel like, and not limit myself by following any set lessons and instructions." Gary could hear his friend's point, but still felt having the chance to learn from a pro was worth it, so he kept going to the lessons by himself. One day the boys were cranking away at one of their jam sessions, Rob was amazed when Gary, instead of his usual scratchy off key sound, started playing a really sweet sounding guitar solo. "Hey cool! How did you manage to do that?" Rob asked. "Oh, that was something Mr. Isaacs taught me last night," Gary answered matter-of-factly. He kept playing and Rob was impressed - but not enough to pin himself down with guitar lessons. As time went on, Rob couldn't help noticing that Gary was starting to sound more and more like a real musician and he was still hacking away like an amateur. But more than that, Rob noticed that Gary was having a great time using all the new skills he had been learning. He didn't look like he felt restricted at all. "Okay, just put your fingers on the stings like this and there you've got it!" said Mr. Isaacs enthusiastically as he and Gary sat down to another music lesson. Just then the doorbell rang. "I'll get it," said Gary, wanting to spare the older man who had been helping him so much from having to walk across the room. He opened the door and was greeted by the sight of Rob, guitar case slung over his shoulder. "Room for one more at the lesson?" he asked sheepishly. "Sure but I thought you didn't want to be stuck taking lessons?" "I know, but after seeing how much you've gotten from the lessons, I realize taking instructions isn't a prison that's going to restrict my music - it's actually what I need to get the skills to stay on key and really play free." Mission Updates:Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, It was hot today! It was 92 degrees out maybe hotter that was just what we noticed it was at about 5:15 PM on the way back to the library. It was very hot in the back seat of the Chevy and we may just have to do more trips as the air freon leaked out. I was in someplace today and heard this man talking about how he was a missionary. Talking about going to Mexico and building a house...now it really hurt, why because right there in Wichita there are so many in need of a home and biblical help but yet he has to go all the way to another country to help people. It really just does not make sense. You are supposed to help those close to you in your own land first. But these are throw away people right! NO The Lord love's them and so do we. Sure to some it seems I am always asking but it's for them not I. Some might say "pastor "Where is your Faith" why do you have to ask. Well this man is part of the reason. So many just ignore what the word says and have to go to another country to find people to help. There own neighbors I guess are not good enough to help. It was cool inside the mission and we had a nice day. people forgot their troubles for a little while then it was back to the street, but they know we care and the Lord cares for them, even if everyone seems to treat them as trash.. All except a certain Pastor who worries about them......prays for them. Pray about supporting this work. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch http://messiahsbranch.org/ Job 24:4 - They turn the needy out of the way: the poor of the earth hide themselves together. Shalom In Yeshua Our Messiah, Kathy made three and a half dozen egg sandwiches on Friday and we servered dozens of donuts through out the day. It was so good to have her back in the kitchen it is a lot of work for one person. I made salmon patties for dinner that turned out really good and we served them with macironi salad, black eyed peas and greenbeens -n- bread-n-butter everything was eaten so I made boxed fried chicken -n- french fries for our Sabbath meal. The newsletter has still not went out it takes 200 to print and 111 to mail. The bills still need paid this month. I was able to pay the electric but the gas that was due today 41.68 remains unpaid, the water due on the 15th is 15.66 , the internet due on the 12th is 39.95 and we need gas as always. We need your support so pray about weather your a vessel to these works and be lead by Yahweh to help. This ministry and all we do is done by faith, the Father will provide and He has never failed His works we just ask that you pray about helping and be lead by Him. Last weeks answer: Jeremiah 7:1-15 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Stand in the gate of the LORD's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD. 3 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place. 4 Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these. 5 For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour; 6 If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt: 7 Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever. 8 Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. 9 Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; 10 And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? 11 Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD. 12 But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. 13 And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not; 14 Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh. 15 And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim. Be-Midbar For the week of June 4, 2005 / 26 Iyar 5765 Torah: Bemidbar / Numbers 1:1 - 4:20 Haftarah: Hosea 2:1-22 An Intense Love "'I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot, declares the LORD. 'Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the desert and speak tenderly to her.'" (Hosea 2:13,14) One of the purposes of the Bible - if not its primary purpose - is to reveal God to us. There are two fundamental aspects of God that we continually encounter in the Scriptures. The first is called his transcendence, which is how we refer to his being separate from and greater than his creation. The second is called his immanence, which has to do with his involvement within his creation. This week's Haftarah deals with his immanence. While many people have trouble believing in God at all, it is his immanence that others stumble over. The Bible teaches that God is love (1 John 4:8), which is one of the expressions of his immanence. Love is God's prime motive in his dealings with human beings. The love which motivates God is a sacrificial, selfless love, which gives without necessarily deriving anything in return. It is this kind of love that expresses itself in what we read in this week's Haftarah. The picture painted through the prophet is that of the people of Israel being likened to an unfaithful wife and God as the jealous husband. God's love is expressed in a tension between a burning anger, which desires to cast Israel off, and a drive to do anything in his power to draw his beloved back to himself again. On one hand Israel faces God's wrath, due to their rejection of him, while on the other hand God is determined to restore that broken relationship, because he is absolutely committed to it. Perhaps some people are offended by the intense human language used by Hosea in this passage. His depiction of God as a rejected lover may be too much for some of us to take. It could be that the reason for this is that we are not comfortable with a God who is too immanent, too near. Perhaps even too much like ourselves. But I wonder if our difficulty accepting God depicted this way is that we are looking at this backwards. Perhaps God's depth of emotion is expressed like this, because we are made like him. Perhaps the pain we feel when we are rejected by those we love is actually a revelation of how God feels about us. God is nearer than we think. Our ability to relate to the infinite, eternal God is as near as our own hearts. While we must be careful not to make God in our own likeness, we need to realize that because we are made in his image, he is more like us than we often are willing to accept. TorahBytes

Bamidbar (Numbers 1:1-4:20) Family Parsha Bamidbar 5765

We have so many different people in our lives that sometimes we may forget to value and appreciate the people who really care the most about us - our families. In the Torah portion this week, we learn that when the Jewish people were traveling across the desert on the way to Israel, God instructed them to group themselves according to families and maintain strong family identities. Our family is not just a group of people we happen to have been born into and live with, rather they are connected to us in a deep and powerful way. We gain so much when we value our families, and make them a big part of our lives. In our story, a kid discovers that his family means more to him than he thought.

"MONKEY BUSINESS"

Steve squirmed in the back seat of his family's van. Sunday was usually a day that he got to spend hanging out doing fun things with his friends, and now he was stuck going on a dumb family trip to the zoo. It wasn't that he disliked his family or anything, they were okay enough to live with. But he really didn't like to spend a lot of time doing things with them. Compared to the cool gang of friends he liked to hang out with, they were kind of boring, and spending a whole day going around with them just wasn't his idea of a good time. When they got to the zoo, Steve made it very clear from the beginning that he was on his own. If his family would go slowly and linger at one of the exhibits, he would move faster. When they wanted to move on quickly, he would be sure to lag behind. His parents tried to get him to stay with them, but he wasn't interested and finally they gave up once he promised to stay close by and keep them within sight. Soon he bumped into a group of kids he knew from school and began to tag along with them. They weren't close friends of his but at least it was better than being stuck with his family. These kids liked to move fast and Steve hurried to keep up. At first he would stop every few minutes to glance back at his family like he said he would, but soon it became too distracting and he just started to flow with the crowd. After a while, the group of kids got ready to leave the zoo. Steve was suddenly on his own and turned to look for his family. He assumed they would be nearby, but they were nowhere in sight. Steve ran back to the group of kids from his school and spoke to the older kid who seemed to be the leader. "I can't find my family... I think I'm kinda lost...." The guy didn't seem very interested and was in a big rush. "Hmm, that's really too bad," he said distractedly as he flung his bag over his shoulder. "I'm sure you'll find them, but we gotta go now, okay?" With that, they were gone. Now what? Steve suddenly felt very alone and scared. He decided to go back along the main path, hoping he'd see his family at one of the exhibits along the way. He checked out one exhibit after another, but still no family in sight. Do they even notice I'm lost? he wondered. As he walked, Steve noticed lots of families happily enjoying themselves together and felt jealous. He stopped to catch his breath in front of the monkey exhibit. He glanced in and saw a young chimp swinging happily on his mother's arm. Even the monkeys have enough sense to stick with and appreciate their families, he thought to himself. Panic started setting in and Steve was about to cry when he thought he heard his name being called. He looked up - it was his family! They were walking fast and looked really worried. "Dad! Dad, I'm over here!" he called out with relief. They ran up to him, and his mom gave him a big hug. Usually when she did that, especially in public, Steve would pull away all embarrased. But this time he didn't want to let go. "Steve, we've been searching for you everywhere!" said his dad. "I know you like to be on your own, but please stay close to us the rest of the trip!" his mother pleaded. This time Steve didn't need any convincing. Getting lost had showed him how much his family meant to him. Maybe they were not as 'cool' as his friends, but they were something much deeper and more important - through thick and thin they were his and he was theirs. "No problem, Mom!" Aish.com

Last Weeks Answer: Ephesians 2:1-10 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; 2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: 3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, 5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) 6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works

Find This Passage: 1 The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2 Stand in the gate of the LORD's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.
