HAPPY NEW YEAR

Shemot For the week of January 1, 2005 / 20 Tevet 5765 Torah: Shemot / Exodus 1:1 - 6:1 Haftarah: Isaiah 27:6 - 28:13; 29:22-23 Secret Identity "Now a man of the house of Levi married a Levite woman, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months." (Shemot / Exodus 2:1,2) Everybody has a secret identity. No one enters life knowing who they are. Some of us go through our entire lives never discovering our true identities. As we grow up it is often others who recognize our true identities before we ever do. Some people make finding their identity the whole focus of their lives. Those who do find it then discover that this is just the beginning. It can take a whole lifetime, if ever, to come to a full realization of who we really are. According to the Book of Hebrews in the New Covenant Scriptures, Moses' parents knew that he was special: "By faith Moses' parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king's edict." (Hebrews 11:23) Exactly what they knew, we don't know, but they somehow perceived he was no ordinary baby, and they did everything they could to preserve him in the midst of Pharaoh's edict to destroy the male babies. It is interesting how it was God's special call on Moses that led to his being preserved and the unusual circumstances of being brought up in Pharaoh's household. How easy it would have been to live the rest of his life that way, enjoying the place and privilege he had, especially since it seemed to be the leading of God that brought him to that place. Even once he recognized he had a role to play with regard to his own people, some may have thought it would have been best to try to ease their oppression from his place of privilege. But that was not to be. As Moses began to explore his God-given role among his people, the resulting circumstances were such that he was catapulted far from both them and his Egyptian environment. His mishandling of a conflict between an Egyptian and a fellow Hebrew, resulted in his being rejected by both peoples. We don't know what he thought about himself during the next forty years as he lived in the land of Midian as a shepherd. We don't know if he had any understanding of his true identity. We do know that when the time came for him to take his place after so long, he wasn't quick to accept the call. In fact he did everything he could to avoid it. Yet God persisted. The time had come for his secret identity to be revealed. Moses was placed on this earth for a purpose, and it was necessary for him to fulfill that purpose. I don't know if God persists this way in every case. But what I am sure of is that the lives that many of us are living are no indication of the lives we are meant to live. For some there is a timing issue. Being sufficiently prepared before stepping into our true calling is essential. Like Moses, we may not see the connection between the preparation for the calling and its fulfillment, nor do we necessarily need to. But for others, our not coming to grips with our secret identity could be for other reasons. Perhaps the most common reason is not accepting that we might really have one. We may think that being truly significant is something reserved only for a select few. Or we might be afraid that we might actually have a special purpose to fulfill. Many people prefer the comfort of thinking they are normal (whatever that is), to facing the challenge of being special. To accept our true identities almost always means conflict, pain, and rejection. Some of us would rather fit in, than suffer the consequences of being different. Tragically, when we are not willing to accept our true identities, we reject ourselves, our calling and God. It is only when we come to accept who we really are, that we discover what it means to truly live. TorahBytes

Shmot (Exodus 1:1-6:1) Family Parsha Shmot 5765

Each of us has inside ourselves the ability to accomplish much more than we realize. Yet sometimes we let our fears and feelings of not being good enough stand in the way. In this week's Torah portion, we learn about how Moses had within him the ability to stand up against the cruel and powerful Pharaoh, and be the one to lead the entire Jewish people out from miserable slavery to freedom. At first even Moses didn't realize he could do it. But God encouraged him, and helped him to see his true abilities. Moses discovered his hidden potential and changed the course of human history. We, too, can learn how to see our true abilities, overcome the feelings that hold us back, and accomplish what we never thought we could. In our story a kid discovers his hidden potential - in the bottom of a pool. "OFF THE DEEP END" It may have only been a 20 meter pool, but to me it looked like the Atlantic Ocean. As I stood there in line watching one kid after another jump in and swim to the other side, I knew only one thing: I could never do it. I had been taking after-school swimming lessons. Everything went along fine at first. I learned to tread water, paddle like a dog, and even to do 'the crawl' stroke. Maybe I couldn't actually swim, but now, at least, I could flop around in the water long enough for a lifeboat to arrive. Let the typhoon come; I was ready. But on the day of the last lesson, Mr. Walder, our instructor, told us that as a final exam we were all going to swim from one end of the pool to the other. I thought he was joking. But when he lined us all up on one side of the big indoor heated pool, I saw he was serious, and I knew only one thing - I was in way over my head. Maybe I knew how to tread water well enough to get by in an emergency, but I couldn't actually swim, and certainly not well enough to get across the whole pool! As we got in line, I was careful to strategically position myself at the end of the line. I figured the hour-long lesson would probably finish well before they reached my turn, and I would be able to quietly return home to life on dry land. But soon I saw that wasn't going to happen. The line was moving too fast. Somehow the same kids who just a couple of months ago couldn't swim across a bathtub were suddenly gliding across the pool like Olympic stars. Now there were only two guys ahead of me and I began to panic. Maybe I could pretend I had a cramp, or explain to Mr. Walder how I had to get home early that day to baby-sit for my pet cat. One way or the other I would have to get out of it. After all, there was no way to do the impossible. Mark, the guy in front of me, jumped in and now it was just the two of us - me and the instructor on one side of the pool, and everyone else on the other. "Okay, Scott, last but not least. Your turn!" called out the man with a smile, his shining whistle dangling on the chain around his neck. I didn't move. It was embarrassing for sure to just stand there like a zombie, but it sure beat drowning! Mr. Walder came closer and asked, "What's going on, Scotty?" "I can't do it, Mr. Walder," I answered between clenched teeth. "It's impossible. I can't swim across the pool." I was afraid he was going to laugh, or start yelling at me. He looked at me, then at the water, shook his head and said, "I know just how you feel." He did? "It looks like an awfully long way from this side of the pool. But you know what? You can do it." I was glad he felt that way, but that didn't change the impossible reality. I shook my head tensely. "No, you don't understand. I can't swim. I just can't do it." "Look Scott," he said patiently. "It might seem like it is beyond you, but I've been watching you during all of these lessons, and I'm telling you, you can swim." I shook my head. "Scott, you have the tools. You know how to do the crawl stroke, move your arms and kick you feet, right?" "Yeah, but..." "And you know how to turn your head and breathe between strokes too, don't you?" I nodded. It was true, but still... "Scotty, guess what? That means you know how to swim!" I was about to argue, then I gave his words a second thought. It was true, I could do all the things he mentioned. Did that mean I really could swim after all? "So what do you say, Scotty?" "Okay, but swimming across the whole pool? I mean, it's so far." "It's just one crawl stroke after another. I'll be right there with you. I know you can do it, and I think by now you know it too. Go ahead, jump in and swim!" I couldn't even believe I was doing it myself, but I asked God to get me across to the other side in one piece, jumped into the water and started doing the strokes just like he taught me. Miracle of miracles, a few minutes later I reached the other end of the pool! "You did it man, you did it!" cried out the instructor. All the kids were cheering, and I felt incredible! Maybe I wouldn't win any Olympic medals, but I could swim! As I climbed out of the pool, I thanked God for getting me across the pool, and started to wonder about how many other things I really could do, but just didn't know it yet. Aish.com

Mission Updates: Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Been a real long week. Friday the employee's from the Credit Union bank bring presents to over 100 people on their gift list. Ed who is a volunteer that helps at Messiah's Branch and works at the Bank encourages his fellow employee's into helping him buy presents for the mostly homeless that come to Messiah's Branch. Ed who is a Public Relations man for the bank is always eager to help. I can give him plates of food and send him off under the bridge to feed the poor. He always pitches in to wipe and clean the tables in his work clothing...which can be expensive suits. But no matter to good hearted Ed he jumps right in. This will be the fourth year for the Holiday gifts. His Wife Randi is also a Saint that helps and she is a blessed person. Talk about shopping I would not want to have to do her job...yuk yuk! I am sure Ed helps.... The people write down three items on the list and they try their hardest to get 2 out of the three. Many get things like needed coats, shoes, and clothing items. I know one girl who just finally got a place with her mother who were both homeless for sometime got pots and pans. Yes ol Ed did not make them wait but gave them to them the first of the month when they found the place. The girl suffers from sickle cell and has just went through a series of blood transfusions. She is in her late teens to early 20's. But yes children are on the list. I know one Father who just got custody of his two girls are on the list. They are 4 and 3 I think. Friday will be a big day for us at Messiah's Branch. Tuesday we were packed when we opened as so many jammed in for brunch. We had a good pleasant day. We just about gave out all the gloves and hats that came in. Also some colored hats came in and I think are gone. Also most of the army blankets are gone along with various others that have came in here and there. I saw some people whom I have not seen in some time while others are missing so to speak. I still have some hold outs who are still outside. Some sleep in a parking garage, while other have built camps at various places on the river. We have had a little extra small canned items we have been giving out along with a bunch of donated milk. Saints last new years eve many on this list helped us go in top the first of the year with our bills paid. The donations started on new years eve and went till after midnight! We really need your help worse this year. We need to make a food order for canned things and noodles. We serve many chicken and noodles and hamburger noodles. We need canned vegetables etc. Mom says she needs $200 just for this order. The freezer for meat is almost empty! On top of that we need the monthly bill money.......So please pray about mercy to the poor at the end of this year and help as much as you can so we can go into 2005 with things paid up! We also need donations for more big print Bibles! Food for the soul as well as for the body is in need. By the way the exhaust van for the Kitchen should be in by Friday when I get there! The FATHER bless thee and keep thee; The FATHER make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The FATHER lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. (peace)Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24-26 In Yeshua's Name, Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch Shalom In Yeshua Our Messiah, Friday was a very busy day at the Mission and Kathy was home with the flu. HELP! I had some errands to run so Sarina and Larry started making the egg sandwiches. When I arrived Sarina then had to help organize the gift giving. Larry made 9 dozen egg sandwhiches. We served many donut's with milk ,ice tea, ice water and hot coffee. John kept a count during the day and at one point we had 78 people in our small little home like Mission. The Wichita paper came to cover this event that was about the holiday gifts the bank has supplied for the past four years. The reporter interviewed both Pastor Dan and Ed (the banker), both of which made it clear to him that we do not participate in the worldly Dec 25th celebration. The newspaper ignored that as you can see by reading the papers article Pastor Dan posted earlier. We give the gifts as holiday gifts to many who have needs, no family or homes. These are gifts of needs they consist of shoes, boots, blankets, coats, stocking hats, gloves and some who are in need house hold items. It was great to see all the smiling faces as they received their much needed gifts. I made left over spaghetti sauce it was mixed hamburger sauce and white chicken breast sauce. I put this over bow tie noodles, served with cottage cheese, corn-n-peas, and toasted bread. It turned out to be really good I even had reports back about many of them bragging on how good it was. The Mission gas and electric bills both came Friday and so did the money to pay them Praise Yahweh. It's time for the news letter again and I would love to see it go out this Friday(new years eve). We need 200 to print and 118.40 to mail. The over seas went last month so they won't go out again till March. I pray you all a very safe worldly new year , if you celebrate please do so carefully. We still need food money and gas money so Please pray about supporting these works. Thank you all who help in one way or another an Yahweh BLESS the Saint who sent 120 stamps, those will be used to mail out the Prison Weekly Shalom More on the Mission next update: Last Weeks answer: Isaiah 11:10-16 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. 12 And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. 13 The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. 14 But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. 15 And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. 16 And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt. Find This Passage: The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel. And all the people shall know, even Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart, The bricks are fallen down, but we will build with hewn stones: the sycomores are cut down, but we will change them into cedars. Therefore the LORD shall set up the adversaries of Rezin against him, and join his enemies together; The Syrians before, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still. For the people turneth not unto him that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD of hosts. Therefore the LORD will cut off from Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day. The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection, and complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, who has a bun in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Buttersworth, Hungry Jack, The California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies and
Captain Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours. Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy, and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded. Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart "cookie", wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Prisonweekly Torah December 25th

Va-yehi For the week of December 25, 2004 / 13 Tevet 5765 Torah: Bereshit / Genesis 47:28 - 50:26 Haftarah: 1 Kings 2:1-12 A Father's Blessing "All these are the twelve tribes of Israel, and this is what their father said to them when he blessed them, giving each the blessing appropriate to him." (Bereshit / Genesis 49:28) Shortly before Jacob, who was also called Israel, passed away he took the time to formally bless his twelve sons. The giving of a father's blessing is not something that most people are familiar with in our own day. I am aware that this has become more popular in some circles, but my guess is that most people wouldn't understand why something like this is important. There are some people who think that our lack of receiving blessing from our fathers is the cause of many problems in our lives. Concepts like "the father wound" attest that there is a great need in our hearts for good relationships with our fathers. The movie "Field of Dreams" has had a profound effect on many people, especially men. "Field of Dreams" is the fanciful story of a middle-aged man who, having never reconciled with his father while his father was still alive, is given an opportunity to do so. The popularity of such a film reveals how many people there are who never received their father's blessing. Our fathers have a special role to play in our discovery of who we are in life. That is why a father telling his child statements like "You'll never amount to anything" has such a devastating effect. On the other hand, a father who lovingly affirms his child is giving him a solid foundation towards developping into a healthy, well-adjusted adult. But if current trends continue, more and more people will grow up without a father's blessing. Not only that, many will grow up with no relationship to a father at all. Some will not even have a biological father as science paves the way to make fatherhood obsolete. The result will be a level of lost-ness in the hearts of people that has never before seen in history. You might be someone who fully understands all this. You long for your father's blessing, but have no hope of ever receiving it. Maybe your father is no longer alive. You know that stories like "Field of Dreams" are only for books and movies. Maybe your father is alive, but the nature of your relationship is such that you believe he will never bless you. Maybe so. Thankfully whatever your relationship is to your biological father, there is another Father, who longs to bless you. God, the Heavenly Father, has the ability to heal the father wound in you. What was only fantasy in "Field of Dreams" can become reality – not that you will be able to satisfactory address every unresolved issue you have with your earthly father, but the greater Father can mend every broken part of your heart. This is not to say that we should not hope for resolution with our early fathers. In fact allowing the Heavenly Father to heal us will most likely be the beginning of healing with our natural dads. God's desire is for us to have good, healthy relationships with our natural parents. It is true that due to our broken state, we will not see every relationship flourish the way they were meant to. Still, if we would receive God's blessing, we will begin to see even our broken relationships in a new light. Torah Bytes
Vayechi (Genesis 47:28-50:26) Family Parsha Vayechi 5765 We all admire great people and wish we could be great too. The truth is we can, and it's easier than we think. The secret to becoming great is simply to become ourselves! Each of us has our own unique potential for greatness which we tap into by discovering and using the special traits and unique talents that God gives every one of us. In this week's Torah Portion, Jacob, our forefather, teaches his 12 sons the secret of greatness. As he's about to leave the world, he blesses them to reach greatness. But he doesn't simply give each of them the same blessing; rather, he carefully chooses his words and blesses each one according to his unique traits and abilities. The point is that we really can become great - not by copying anyone else's greatness, but by becoming the best and greatest indivitual we can possibly be. In our story, a kid discovers the surprising secret of becoming great. "NUMBER ONE" The word spread like wildfire. JJ Jackson, ex-captain of the school basketball team, had been drafted by the pros, and offered a huge contract! If the rest of the kids were excited by the news, Arnold Domby was absolutely inspired. From the day he heard the news that the school had someone who reached heroic greatness, Arnold decided he would do it too. He became the world's #1 JJ fan, following his every game and studying his every move. He bought a lifetime supply of JJ T-shirts, wearing a different one each day, and was proud of the nickname 'JJ Junior' that they started to call him around the school. When it was time for basketball try-outs, Arnold was of course first in line. After all, how could he ever reach his dream of becoming another JJ without first becoming star of the school team? The fact that the lean, muscular JJ was nearly seven feet tall, and the brainy, but not particularly athletic Arnold was only 5'4" - with a build more suited for basket-weaving than basketball - was a minor detail that Arnold was sure wouldn't stand in his way to greatness. Well try-outs didn't exactly go the way Arnold had hoped they would. Things started going wrong when he bounced the ball too hard, hitting himself in the face and breaking his glasses. And things only went down hill from there. He still figured he'd make the team - after all he did manage to sink one of his ten free-throw shots through the hoop - almost. The next day, Arnold was the first one at the gym to see the list of those who made the team. He read the list once, twice. His name had to be on it, but where? But soon enough he had to face the truth. He hadn't made the team, and even worse - he felt he had lost his chance to be great. Arnold was still standing there with his head hanging lower than an ant's stomach when the door opened to the gym and in walked Mr. Landers, the basketball coach. Arnold couldn't hold himself back and ran up to the coach. "Coach, please! You've got to put me on the team!" he begged, tears welling up in the corner of his eyes. Mr. Landers tried to explain to him how not everyone could make the team, and how he could always try out again next year, but nothing helped. "Please coach, don't you understand? I've got to be like JJ. I've got to become great!" The coach looked at Arnold in his JJ T-shirt, and nodded his head. "You know," he said, "you're a big JJ fan, aren't you?" "Are you kidding? He's the greatest!" With that, the boy began rattling off from memory JJ's statistics from the whole season - points scored, rebounds, and even minutes played, rolled off his tongue as easily as if he was reciting his own telephone number. "That's pretty impressive," the coach said shaking his head. "You told me you want to become great. Let me ask you something: what do you think makes JJ great?" Arnold thought, "Well to start off with, he has a great shot, and he's really fast, and he's..." "Whoa," the coach cut him off, "all that is true, but that's not what makes him great." "It isn't?" "Nope. What makes him great is that he realized which talents God gave him and worked hard to make the most of them, instead of wasting his time trying to become like anybody else." Arnold didn't get it. The coach went on. "In case you don't know it, I was also his coach back then. I happen to know that JJ loved horses. Now what do you think would have become of him if he had decided he was going to become like one of those great jockeys he admired instead of playing basketball?" Arnold couldn't help smiling at the thought of the big seven-footer sitting on a horse, his long legs nearly dangling on the ground. "Not too much, I guess." "That's right. But JJ was smart enough to become who he was instead of trying to become who he wasn't. That's what makes him great, and you can do the same thing too." Arnold's face brightened. "You mean you'll let me join the team?" "Yes, but not the way you think. I wasn't only JJ's coach, I was also his math teacher, and I can tell you he could never in a million years knock off those facts and figures the way you just did. You have a real talent for numbers. How would you like to become the team statistician? It's a lot of work, you have to follow every game and compile everyone's stats, but I think you could do it, and not only that, but great at it. What do you say?" Arnold thought about it. It wasn't what he had in mind. But he had to admit, he loved numbers and it would be a big challenge and a lot of fun, and ... he rubbed the bump on his head from where the ball hit him, probably less dangerous too. "I'll do it, coach!" he said, thus beginning his great career - of becoming himself. Aish.com

(peace)Bemidbar (Numbers) 6:24-26 In Yeshua's Name, Bro. Dan, Pastor of Messiah's Branch Shalom In Yeshua our Messiah,Kathy made five dozen egg-n-cheese sandwiches an they served many donuts with milk, ice water, ice tea and coffee through out the day. Friday was a very busy day for me I picked Daniel II up early so we could go to get his restricted DL. When we got to the DMV then discovered he had left his driving glasses in his fathers van and that was at the Mission in Wichita we were in Marion. Of course they wouldn't let him get the license without the glasses so we went on and picked up the other children and headed to the Mission. Once we arrived there Sarina took him with the paper I signed to the DMV in Wichita only to find out that he had to have a parent with him to get his licenses. Pastor Dan said the prayer an I went ahead and lite the Shabbat candles then Kathy and I served the spaghetti , green beans and garlic bread. We just finished serving when Sarina and Daniel II pulled up so then the two of us turn around and headed back to the DMV to get his license. Hurray he got it today was his first day to drive alone as he drove his bronco to school this morning.A few more Mission bills came in this week, the cell phone is around 78 and the storage electric is 48 something, I do not remember exact amounts I am here at work so I can not look at the bills. The food account is right around eight dollars, we have 30 pounds of chicken and 10 pounds of hamburger in the freezer. The canned goods are also running low we have two cans of carrots, about eight cans of green beans and three cases of corn left. We have one five pound bag of spaghetti and three or four big bags of bow tie pastas left. I really need to get another order in with the ministry we buy these from for 15 cents a pound. It will take about two hundred to place the order I need which consist of pasta, green beans, tomato sauce, tomatoes, carrots and canned fruits enough for a few months. We also need canned pinto beans these come in handy for soups and chili's or just to serve as beans I believe there are about eight cans of these left in storage. We need sugar I get at Sam's twenty five pound bags around ten bucks a bag and flour I buy by the case at Aldi's. A few boxes came today that had some staples to use in soups, a few socks, a dozen gloves some warm sweaters an a pair of snow boots these will be given out tomorrow. We need gas for the trips to the Mission an the ministry account is very low. Tomorrows gas is here but we will need Friday's. All we ask is that you pray about supporting these works. We have faith that Yahweh will provide he always has and always will but He uses you to do that. Here we are just making you aware of the needs, He will supply them through someone, maybe that someone is you. Just pray about it an then follow His instructions on how you can help. No gift is ever to small or to big we turn nothing away as all comes from our Father and has a place for use in His works. I still could use postage for the prison weekly I mail every Wednesday. Eggs are also always needed at the Mission maybe you could drop off a few dozen when your out doing errands. WE had a family donate some very warm socks, gloves and stocking hats that are keeping many of those who are still sleeping outside a little warmer. They are also the family who sent large print Bibles and blankets all of which have been given out and blessed many. Thanks everyone who helps May Our Father Bless you and keep you safe. More on the Mission next update: Last weeks answer: 2 Thessalonians 3:6-18 KJV 6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. 7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; 8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: 9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. 10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. 12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. 13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. 14 And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. 16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. Find this Passage: And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth. The envy also of Ephraim shall depart, and the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off: Ephraim shall not envy Judah, and Judah shall not vex Ephraim. But they shall fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west; they shall spoil them of the east together: they shall lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; and the children of Ammon shall obey them. And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he shake his hand over the river, and shall smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over dryshod. And there shall be an highway for the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria; like as it was to Israel in the day that he came up out of the land of Egypt.
A post to my group bibletriviaweeklytorah I want to share with you:Please take no offence to this message if your not interested Please just delete it Shalom CHRISTMAS….. OR XMAS? “Ho! Ho! Ho!” exclaims the jolly old man in a red suit. But what do elves and reindeer and maxed-out credit cards have to do with the birth of Jesus?
Copyright 2004 / Leslie A Turvey
Hark! The herald angels sing. O little town of Bethlehem. Rudolph the red nosed….Whoahhh! What does a reindeer with neon nostrils have to do with the birth of the world’s saviour? Nothing, really, but such songs do brighten the dreary days
of December.Xmas is a delightful time for children of all ages. There’s shopping to do, a tree to decorate, a goose to be cooked, oohhhing and ahhhing at colourful lights along the streets and, of course, wondering what’s in the gaily-decorated packages with tags that say “From Mom and Dad,” “From Grandma,” and “From Santa Claus.”
Despite its pre-Christian origin, I have no argument with those who want to participate in the gaiety of xmas. (No, I don’t participate.) It’s calling it Christmas that I’m against. Your minister or priest will gladly tell you the birth of Jesus, who is called the Christ, did not occur in the dead of winter. So why should we celebrate it then? Shouldn’t we separate Christmas from xmas, and celebrate Jesus’ birth in line with the bible account? All the jollity would remain in xmas, and the celebration of Jesus’ birth would take on the meaning it deserves. “But we don’t really know when Christ was born,” you say.
Believe it or not, the time of Jesus’ birth can be determined, but it takes a bit of bible study and history and common sense. Fortunately, the work has already been done for you. The dating of Jesus’ birth begins in the old testament, the
part of the bible most of churchianity says is irrelevant today. And the time of celebration is also recorded in the old testament, amid a group of holy days most people believe are only for the Jews. What causes consternation among the preachers of churchianity is the new testament continues the story, and there’s no way around it. And, in the end, history, the bible, and good ol’ common sense combine to show Jesus was born on a warm autumn evening in September. There’s another good reason to separate xmas from the birth of Christ. Moses, through the inspiration of God, wrote about it thousands of years before Jesus was born. The scripture says, “Take heed to yourself…that you enquire not after their gods saying, How did
these nations serve their gods? Even so will I do likewise (Deuteronomy 12:30).” The celebrations surrounding xmas were around long before that warm September night in Bethlehem. But, as the Christian religion gained momentum, a church based in Rome -- not the biblical church at Rome -- began making converts of idol worshippers. How did they keep them? They did what God, through Moses, told them not to do. This new church allowed their converts to bring in many of their traditions, and
“Christianized” them. Among these was the Roman saturnalia, a hedonistic event in late December, designed to encourage the sun god to rise from the long, dreary days of winter, and to shine benevolently on the people for another year. How easy it was to change the sun god to the son of God, and call the celebration Christmas or, more properly, xmas. So why do the churches of today continue to combine xmas and Jesus’ birth? Because it’s tradition. But Jesus told the religious leaders of his day, “Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition (Mark 7:9).” What was the commandment of God, and how does it apply today? Don’t ask how the ungodly nations serve their gods, so you can do the same thing, calling it Christian (Deuteronomy 12:30). To discover the wonderful plan of God for mankind, study his holy days revealed in Leviticus 23:1-44, and consider whether you should eschew xmas, and begin following the commandments of God. “For my
thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9).”

This was a reponce to RE: CHRISTMAS?.. OR XMAS? and my reply back .....so many are decieved with this deception I can only pray Yahweh will OPEN THEIR EYES TO TRUTH>
Yes, it is true that Christ was not born in December; the "Star" the wise men followed, allegedly, was the eclipse of Saturn and Jupiter, which would have created a brilliant light, and would have also occurred in the fall.
I do not have a big problem with celebrating the birth of Jesus December 25th, as long as it is observed as such. It is not as big a deal to me as not celebrating Easter. I mean, which is more important - His birth, or His resurrection? Without His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, we have no freedom from sin, and his birth doesn't have the same meaning, does it?
The fact is He was born, in Bethlehem, to a virgin. His birth was foretold, and was a gift to all. He was born to die for all our sin. What is important, to me, is He was born; He died on the cross; He rose again and is alive today!! Most of all, He is worthy of our praise and recognition EVERY day, not just December 25 or on Easter.
(name withheld)

My reply to this was :
(name withheld) what ever is against the Word of Yahweh is Sin,
The first commandment Exodus 20: 3 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Dec 25th is not Yeshua's birthday it is several sungods birthdays mithra, nimrod ect....
The second commandment Exodus 20:4-6 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
bowing down to a tree to retrieve presents is idol worship
The Word tells us not to learn the ways of the heathen and it tells us not to cut down a tree put it in our house and deck it with silver and gold.
Jerimah 10 1 Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.
This celebration is biggest deception from the greatest LIAR of creation it is nothing but lies from the birth to the tree to santa everything about it is a lie. I celebrated it for many many years until I came to truth and came out of the world. Praise be to Yahweh for showing me TRUTH.
Yeshua tells us to remeber His death not His birth or resurrection.
1 Corinthians 11:23-34 23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world. 33 Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another. 34 And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
I love you (name withheld) but truth is truth and I stand for truth the Word says that if we sin willfully after we have recieved knowledge of the truth there remains no more sacrifice for sins.
Hebrews 10:23-2623 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) 24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
PS I did mention that this was based on nothing but lies but forgot to include the scriptue against it the 9th commandment Exodus 20:16 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Prisonweekly December18th 2004

Va-Yiggash For the week of December 18, 2004 / 6 Tevet 5765 Torah: Bereshit / Genesis 44:18 - 47:27 Haftarah: Ezekiel 37:15-28 Don't Disregard God "How can I go back to my father if the boy is not with me? No! Do not let me see the misery that would come upon my father." (Bereshit / Genesis 44:34) The story of Joseph is one of the most detailed in the entire Bible. One of the more complex parts of the story is when his brothers come to Egypt in their hope to purchase food. It is difficult to understand Joseph's motive in how he deals with them during their two visits. He recognizes them right away, but they have no clue that the Egyptian official they encounter is their very own brother. As he interacts with them we get insight into Joseph's emotions, but it is not clear how he really feels about these brothers who years before out of intense jealousy, first wanted to kill him, but in the end sold him into slavery. His love for his father and at least his younger brother, Benjamin, is evident, but as for the others, it is difficult to understand why he doesn't immediately reveal his true identity to them. Joseph had set up the situation in such a way as to create an opportunity to take his younger brother, Benjamin, as his slave. You need to read the story yourself to get the details. It is obvious that he had no intention to mistreat him. It looks as if he was only doing this to see how his brothers would respond. The response came from his brother Judah, who offered to exchange himself for Benjamin. Joseph and Benjamin had a special place in the heart of their father, Jacob. After seeing how losing Joseph had such a negative effect on Jacob, Judah could not bear the thought of bringing additional misery upon him by the loss of Benjamin as well. It is at this point that Joseph reveals himself to them. In fact we read he could no long control himself and that his weeping was heard throughout Pharaoh's household. While this was for the most part due to his many years of anguish, confusion, longing and so on, it might be that it was what Judah said that triggered this reaction. It wasn't that Judah acknowledged the wrong of what they had done to Joseph. If we were in Joseph's place, apart from taking vengeance on his brothers, we might think he was looking for a heart-felt apology. Not knowing that it was actually Joseph they were facing, he, of course, would not get a direct apology. Earlier in the story there is a mention that perhaps their current hardships may be related to what they had done to Joseph, but we never see any signs of true contrition over their mistreatment of him. One might also expect that Joseph was looking for a concern for Benjamin. After treating Joseph so badly, perhaps now they have learned to care for another one of their younger brothers. But that too is not what Judah expresses. He does express concern, but not for Benjamin or Joseph. The person he is concerned about is their father. It is this that brings Joseph to tears. This may have been what Joseph was looking for. One of the things that created friction between Joseph and his brothers in the first place was that their father loved Joseph more than the others (see Bereshit / Genesis 37:3). Without getting into the right and wrong of this, when the brothers mistreated Joseph, they were not thinking about the great effect that this would have upon their father. To hate Joseph as they did was, in a sense, to hate their father. It is possible that Joseph was aware of this all those years. So when Judah showed the level of concern for their father, Jacob, that he did, it melted Joseph's heart, and led to the much-needed reconciliation. Joseph is a wonderful picture of the Messiah. Just as Joseph’s rejection by his brothers resulted in his saving the world of his day, so it was with Yeshua. Both Joseph and Yeshua became unrecognizable to their own people. Joseph looked like an Egyptian and Yeshua to many still looks like a Gentile. Just as Joseph eventually revealed himself to his brothers and was reconciled to them, so it will be with Yeshua. But could it be that one of the keys to this reconciliation is concern for the father? In the case of Israel, it will be a concern for the Heavenly Father. I wonder how much of Israel's inability to see Yeshua for who he really is has to do with an unwillingness to take God himself into account. We tend to be more concerned about preserving our peoplehood and our religion than face God himself. But before we go too far on this thought, let's not miss how what happened between Judah and Joseph relates to each one of us now. Have we ever stopped to think how much our mistreatment of others affects God our Father? When we harbor jealousy or hatred toward one another, it is so easy to become focused on getting our own way and to lose sight of how God might feel about the other person and what he wants to do in the situations we are in. If we claim faith in God, we need to remember to never lose sight of our true Father. The more we are sensitive to how everything in life relates to him first, the more we will be able to live life under his blessing. TorahBytes Vayigash (Genesis 44:18-47:27) Family Parsha Vayigash 5765 Forgiving people and not holding grudges against them is not only good for them -it's also good for us. Sometimes the anger we hold inside against someone who has treated us unkindly hurts us even more than what they did to us in the first place. But forgiving can be hard; how can we do it? This week's portion reveals the secret. Joseph's brothers had treated him very unkindly and sold him into slavery. Yet when he met them again many years later, he didn't hold any grudge whatsoever against them. How was that possible? Because Joseph realized the amazing truth that everyone in our lives are, in a deeper sense, God's 'messengers.' Whatever they say or do is only because God is sending us some sort of a message, and what's the point of getting angry at the messenger? Not only that, since the message is coming from God, ultimately it's for our best. Once we learn to live with this outlook, we will lead much happier lives filled with forgiveness and free from the pain of grudges. In our story, a kid learns the secret of forgiveness in most unlikely place. "ESCAPE FROM THE DUNGEON" The kids in Mrs. Kaplan's history classes felt like they had stepped back into the Middle Ages. As a special class trip she had taken them to Manor Castle, a history museum inside a real 800-year-old castle that had been brought, brick by brick, from overseas and reconstructed just as it had been. "This place is absolutely amazing, isn't it Ellen?" said Naomi, with wide open eyes, as they made their way through the stately, candle-lit halls and chambers. "Yeah, I guess so," muttered the girl under her breath. Even though the unheated castle was pretty cold, Ellen was boiling. "Hey, what's the matter with you?" asked Naomi, surprised at her usually bubbly friend's curt answer. "I'm sorry Naomi," she said, "I'm just really upset." "Why?" "You mean to tell me you're not upset about how all those kids from the older class just pushed ahead of us like we didn't exist and took all the good seats on the bus? I'm lucky I didn't have to sit in the baggage compartment!" Naomi shrugged her shoulders. "Oh, that? Yeah I guess it wasn't so nice, but forget it, and let's enjoy the trip. What's the point of letting a couple of minutes of unpleasantness ruin our whole day? Anyway, they were only 'messengers.' Hey, did you hear that? The guide just said we're going down to the dungeon next!" The dungeon was just where those pushy kids belonged as far as Ellen was concerned. How could her friend just forgive and forget like that? And what in the world had she meant by 'messengers'? But before she had a chance to ask, the guide began leading everyone down a thin, curving stairway. Ellen tried to calm down as she held tight to the metal railing. But she was also holding tight to her grudge. How could she just forgive those thoughtless kids? "Now nobody get scared..." bellowed Tom, the big, redheaded guide who looked like he fit right into the medieval setting, "...but this is the chamber where the master of the castle would take his prisoners. You know, back then the kings were very cruel. They would even punish, or kill, a messenger that brought them bad news!" The kids gasped. "Wow, wasn't that dumb?" commented Ellen to Naomi. "What was the point of getting mad at the messenger?" "So why do you do the same thing?" Ellen was taken aback by her friend's strange comment. "Do the same thing? What are you talking about?" Naomi smiled. "Like I said, those kids on the bus were also just messengers - from God." "Messengers from God? What are you talking about?" "Nothing happens for nothing. Whatever happens is really just God's way of talking to us and giving us a message that somehow we need to hear." "Like what kind of messages?" "There are lots of different messages. Maybe we had once done something similar to someone else, and God sends us a messenger to teach us how it feels so we won't do it again..." Ellen blushed, remembering how she had jumped in front of a little kid to grab a seat on the way to school just that morning. Naomi went on. "Or maybe the messenger is coming to stop us from doing something we think will be good for us but really isn't, or to get us to do something we didn't know that we should. Sometimes the message is pretty clear, and other times we may not understand the message, or why it's good right away, but the message is always there." Ellen nodded. "Okay, let's say that those kids on the bus really were 'messengers,' but wasn't it still wrong of them to act that way?" "Maybe it was, but that's their business to work out. What matters for us is that we had to hear a message, and one way or the other God was going to tell it to us. If those kids hadn't been the ones to deliver the message, someone or something else would have. So why not just forgive and forget instead of feeling angry and miserable by holding a grudge? "It's like we learned in Torah class about how Joseph met up with his brothers who sold him as a slave. That's how he was able to forgive them, by realizing they were God's messengers. And that's why staying mad at people doesn't make any more sense than one of those medieval kings who used to kill their messengers." In his booming voice, Tom announced, "Now follow me upstairs to the royal banquet hall!" Ellen thought about what Naomi said. It would certainly make it easier to drop a grudge and go on with life. She breathed easier as she climbed the stairs and felt ironically like she had begun to climb out of the 'dungeon' of grudge-bearing, and entered the 'banquet hall' of forgiveness. Aish.com

Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Just received an email this evening that socks, hats, and gloves are on the way here. This family sent already sent 110 blankets already this year. They also did so last year. So judging from that these will be really warm things. The Bank employee's ( the Bank Ed works at ) have been shopping for the people. I saw many shoe boxes in Ed's car. They have a list Ed brings to Messiah's Branch. On the list they put three items, then Ed and Randi ( his wife ) go shopping. They get the people two out of three items. They have at least 70 or more people on this list. I know one man came in and just got custody of his daughters. He is getting gifts for them on the list. Many will be blessed this year again! Some people are being led to store up food and be ready while others say by faith alone. Storing is by Faith, we are supposed to prepare when we know a storms coming? You carry car insurance? Health insurance so why would one not prepare for a coming storm? Many have heard from the Lord to do so while others have not so what is the answer which is right? What is right is to have a personal relationship with the Lord Yeshua and Yahweh your Father, then by the Holy spirit you will be led in what to do..SO no one answer works for everyone. That's why we put people on with different points of view. Does not mean Pastor Dan agrees with it all... Well of all things I had an exhaust fan sent to me in a box from Canada. A Saint in Wichita who is rebuilding Mom's new kitchen just bought us a exhaust fan. The Lord does not waste I will have to pray and find why he wishes us to have two? We really need your help in two area's one we need to buy food for the mission. Meat is low and it's time to get some other needed food items....The other area I need trip expenses to Wichita for the rest of the month, gas, oil etc. It is a 120 mile round trip plus my Wichita running them here or there which can add another 40 miles easy as I am all over town.....Trip expenses are needed for Tuesday! Oh yes I need to raise $25 for a breaker to put in the exhaust fan and maybe another $40 or $50 for pipe, wire, etc.....we really need to get this fan in. Friday before Sabbath Service I dropped donuts off at the overflow shelter. They open this in December when the weather gets cold. We gave them Milk and donuts for the people! I am prayer we keep having extra. We still have people camped outside. Yes some stay out all year rather than go through some of the problems with these places I will not go into right now. Keep us in your prayers..... The FATHER bless thee and keep thee; The FATHER make His face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee; The FATHER lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee shalom. Shalom In Yeshua Our Messiah Friday was a little different this week because Kathy couldn't come to do sandwiches. I began the day by setting out chips and sauce Richard, John and Larry set out donuts, made coffee, tea and ice water. Pastor Dan ask Ted to help so we had Ted make the egg sandwiches. Ted comes on a regular basis he is not homeless just on a limited income. He also has a food handlers card so we picked him to cook the eggs while I made dinner. He made seven dozen egg-n- cheese sandwiches and they ate several dozen donuts.I was having a pretty stressful day after we received word on the way in that Kathy was not going to make it to do sandwiches. This was a special day for us and we were also celebrating Hanukkah after service ( so I had tons of things to get done) I wanted to make a special dinner all from scratch. I had started out with my menu of meatloaf smothered in brown gravy, latkes (potato pancakes), mac-n-cheese, peaches and hot rolls with butter. I watched the time fly by me as I hurried to get the first meatloaf in the oven. Well to start off with I noticed I had forgotten to get the brown gravy when I went after onions and peppers for our meatloaves's. Ted could tell that this upset me because there was no way I had time to make a second trip an he said " it's ok sisterlinda I'm sure it will be great they way it is.As I was mixing up the second batch of meatloaf my phone rang as I answered my phone I looked at the oven to see fire flaming up from the burner. I said ON NO I gota go there's a fire in the oven. Well it took me a few mins to wipe all the grease that had spilled over onto the burner and by then the Mission had begun to fill with smoke. We opened the back door, turned on the fan an out the smoke started to go. Ted said "it's ok sisterlinda everything will be just fine " I said "yes I know Yahweh is in Control". It was then I noticed that it was already ten mins after three and I hadn't even begun to shred the potatoes for the latkes. I told Ted well I guess the menu just changed again to boiled potatoes and he offered to cut up the potatoes so we could get them boiling and they'd be done by our 4:30 feed time. I got the pan of water for the macaroni on and that's about this time Kathy showed up so I ask her to do the mac-n- cheese. To make a long story short the dinner turned out to be very good we had meatloaf with nothing on top, boiled potatoes, mac-n cheese and hot rolls with butter. The Milk man came just in time for dinner with strawberry, chocolate and regular types of white milk. There was so much milk that we were able to take some to the over flow shelter along with several dozen fresh donuts. This is also a place for the homeless so the Milk -n- the donuts are still going to them amen. The water bill came in, with the new service charge it is 31.03 due on 12-27. The storage Electric is 47.43 due 1-4-05 and the others will be coming in this week. The food account is down to 54.00 we have 40 pounds of chicken and 10 pounds of hamburger in the freezer. I'd like to get 100 dollars worth of staples from New life the place we get food for 15 cents a pound. After our Hanukkah service we passed out gifts and my daughter gave me the very best gift of all. She made everyone a special paper in a specially designed envelope. I read mine aloud and all the women were crying I could barely get through the ending. Larry was also crying it is very touching and I wanted to type it in my update but I'm short on time so I will type it in tonight and send it out. Please pray about supporting these works all we ask you to is pray about it your needs are the peoples needs amen. more on the Mission next update

O is for outrageous, Your love for Me and the family is So Great its Crazy. M is for MoM, the strongest and the provider of the family. Love You MOMMA Boo Bear ! Last weeks Answer: Isaiah 5:8-23 KJV 8 Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! 9 In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. 10 Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah. 11 Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! 12 And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. 13 Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. 14 Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. 15 And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: 16 But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. 17 Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat. 18 Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: 19 That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! 20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! Find This Passage: Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother. Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
Time for a little humor: Thanks sisterwilli FORREST GUMP DIES The day finally arrived; Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed and Forrest approaches the Gatekeeper. St. Peter says, "Well, Forrest, it's certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must tell you, though, that the place is filling up fast, and we've been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven." Forrest responds, "It shor is good to be here , St.Peter, sir! But nobody ever tolt me about any entrance exam. Shor hope the test ain't too hard; life was a big enough test as it was." St. Peter goes on, "Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions. First: What two days of the week begin with the letter T? Second: How many seconds are there in a year? Third: What is God's first name?" Forrest leaves to think the questions over. He returns the next day and sees St. Peter who waves him up and says, "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers." Forrest says, "Well, the first one -- which two days in the week begin with the letter "T"? Shucks, that one's easy. That'd be Today and Tomorrow. The Saint's eyes open wide and he exclaims, "Forrest, that's not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess I didn't specify, so I'll give you credit for that answer. How about the next one?" asks St. Peter. "How many seconds in a year?" "Now that one's harder," says Forrest, "but I thunk and thunk about that and I guess the only answer can be twelve." Astounded, St. Peter says, "Twelve? Twelve!? Forrest, how in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?" Forrest says "Shucks, there's gotta be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd. . ." "Hold it, " interrupts St. Peter. "I see where you're going with this, and I see your point, though that wasn't quite what I had in mind.....but I'll have to give you credit for that one, too. Let's go on with the third and final question. Can you tell me God's first name"? "Sure" Forrest replied, "its Andy." "Andy" exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated Peter. "Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?" "Shucks, that was the easiest one of all," Forrest replied. "I learnt it, from the song. . .. "ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN. . . ." St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates and said: "Run Forrest, run ."

Prisonweekly December 11th 2004

Mi-Kez For the week of December 11, 2004 / 28 Kislev 5765 Torah: Bereshit / Genesis 41:1 - 44:17 & Bemidbar / Numbers 7:30-41 Haftarah: Zechariah 2:14 - 4:7 Compromise "The seven years of abundance in Egypt came to an end, and the seven years of famine began, just as Joseph had said. There was famine in all the other lands, but in the whole land of Egypt there was food." (Bereshit / Genesis 41:53,54) The Festival of Hanukkah begins this week, running from Wednesday, December 8 through to Wednesday, December 15. Since the Jewish day begins at sundown, the festival actual starts the evening of Tuesday, December 7. Hanukkah is a joyous celebration, marked by family and communal gatherings, singing, games, special foods, and the lighting of candles. There you will find background information, a children's story, and activities. Perhaps the most important theme of Hanukkah has to do with the need for God's people to resist the forces of compromise. In the case of the Jewish people of those days, a small group of faithful followers of God, called the Maccabees, resisted the attempt on the part of foreign oppressors to force the Jews to conform to their religion and culture. Those who knew God's ways understood that they could not go along with this attempt to force Israel to conform. To do so would be to turn from God and to risk losing his blessing. Many in our day seem to think that we can embrace the ways of the prevailing society while not losing touch with God. It seems that we don't understand how incompatible the world is with God and his ways. This week's Torah portion tells the story of how Joseph interpreted Pharaoh's dreams. Through Joseph God foretold the coming years of plenty and famine. Because the Egyptians listened to God's word through Joseph they were able to flourish in the midst of great famine. In order to experience God's blessing, it was necessary for the Egyptians to follow God's words precisely. Neglecting to do so would have meant disaster not only for Egypt, but also for the people of Israel and many other nations. The Maccabees understood this. They knew that for them do what many of their fellow Israelites were doing in engaging in Greek practices was to compromise God's word. They knew to remain faithful to God meant to resist even at the cost of their very lives. It is no different for us today as the prevailing culture incessantly pressures us to compromise. There is little tolerance for those who resist. Yet what choice do we have but to resist? Do we think we can appease the assimilation forces? Do we think that we can bow to both the God of Israel and the gods of materialism and compromise? Who are we trying to please anyway? Sadly many who claim to be followers of God don't even know that they are compromising. The Egyptians experienced the blessing of God because they knew God's word and did it. The Maccabees resisted the pressure to conform because they knew the Scriptures. We will not be able to resist the ungodly forces of our day unless we too know the Bible and do what God says. HANUKKAH - THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
One of the main features of the Festival of Hanukkah is the lighting of the Hanukiah, the nine-branched candelabra. As we light an additional candle for each of the eight days of the festival, we may recall some of the biblical references to light. I have chosen eight references out of very many. I think if we think about them we will enter into more of God's light. In all these passages there is a reference to the word "light" or a derivative.
Genesis 1:3 Creation: Light was the first thing God created. All growing things depend on light for life. God is the source of all life.
Exodus 27:20 Spiritual Truth: The Menorah (candlestick) in the temple was the only source of light. God is the only source of spiritual light.
Psalm 78:14 God's Presence: The light of the pillar of fire, representing God's Presence with his people.
Psalm 89:15 God's Blessing:The light of God's countenance is an expression of His blessing (see Numbers 6:22-27)
Psalm 119:105 God's Word: God's Word provides us with direction in life.
Isaiah 49:6 The Promised Messiah: The Messiah was to be a light to the nations, bringing salvation to them (see also Luke 2:32).
Matthew 5:14 Yeshua's Disciples: Yeshua called his followers the light of the world.
John 8:12 Yeshua Himself: Yeshua said, "I am the Light of the World."
Mikeitz (Genesis 41:1-44:17) Family Parsha Mikeitz 5765 There's more to Chanukah than spinning tops and eating potato pancakes. The first Chanukah millennia ago - and Chanukah today - represents a great struggle between two very different ways to look at life. The Jewish outlook has always been that the physical world with all its beauty and power is fine, but only if it is used as a way to express higher ethical values. Back then a culture sprung up against us and tried to say "Beauty and power are primary. Let's keep values out of the picture." When we celebrate Chanukah even today, we affirm our belief that the most important part of life is not being strong or beautiful - but being moral and good. In our story a couple of kids find themselves living out the Chanukah story first hand ."PACKAGE DEAL" Beads of sweat rolled off Gary's face as he strained his body to the max. "Okay, push it, push it, Gary. Yeah, you did it, man! You pressed a hundred pounds!" He and his buddy, Rob, had been trying to make the best use of their winter break by working out every day in the local gym. The long, cold winter usually meant a lot of time indoors and it was hard to exercise. So when the gym in town advertised a special two-week winter break package deal, the guys jumped at the chance to pump some iron. Gary was good and hungry after the early morning workout, and didn't know what was taking Rob so long to get changed and head back to his place for breakfast. Finally Gary's patience ran out. He went back into the locker room and got his answer. Rob was standing in front of the mirror flexing his muscles. "Hey, let's get going, Rob! If you spend any more time in front of that mirror, it's going to crack," he laughed. Rob blushed for a second and then said, "What's the problem? Don't you want to see how big your muscles look too? After all, isn't this the whole point of doing that record-breaking bench-press of yours?" "That's not why I do it," Gary replied shaking his head. "I didn't spend the last 45 minutes sweating bullets just to be able to stand in front of a mirror and admire myself." Rob clicked his tongue as he flexed his bicep. "Of course it's not only for us," Rob explained. "All the kids back at school are going to be really impressed too when they see how great we look, and..." "That's not what I meant. Didn't you pay attention to the Chanukah story we learned on the last day of school? How the Jewish way is to use our physical strength and good looks for something worthwhile?" "And what could be more worthwhile than looking good?" quipped Rob. "Anyway, don't be a hypocrite. You work out as much as I do, and if anything your biceps are much bigger than mine." "That's just the point. It's fine to get physical - but for a purpose. Chanukah teaches us that everything physical, everything we have - including our bodies - are all just packages for our souls. They're tools God gave us to use properly for something really worthwhile, not just to admire." Rob, who had by now put his arms down and turned from the mirror, looked confused. Gary went on. "For instance, do you know why I work out? I do it to keep healthy and have more energy to concentrate in school. And I also do it so I can really be some help around the house, like shoveling out our driveway instead of my dad who had an operation a couple of months ago. The big muscles are just 'the package' that let me do that." Rob wasn't convinced. "That's all great, but I still say when it comes to looking good, it's 'the outside package' that counts." The guys packed up their stuff and headed back to Gary's place where his mom had set out some bowls of milk and several boxes of cereal for the hungry athletes. Gary picked up a bright, colorful box and began to pour it into Rob's bowl. "Whoa, I'll take some of that other stuff if you don't mind, it tastes much better." But to Rob's surprise, Gary hid the second box behind his back and wouldn't pass it to him. "Hey, c'mon man! Let me have that other cereal." "What do you want that for?" Gary said with a smile. "It's in such a plain box. This cereal here is in a much nicer looking package, and that's 'what counts,' remember?" Despite himself, Rob couldn't help laughing - or getting the point either. After breakfast Rob decided to stick around to help Gary shovel out his driveway, and celebrate Chanukah and what it stood for by not just admiring his muscles, but putting them to good use for a worthwhile cause as well. Mission Updates:Greetings Saints in His Perfect Peace, Today was a really happy day. I passed out the homemade sleeping bags. They are all gone. I did not count but I think 30....I had stuffed animals, babystuff and some toys come. You should of seen this two year old's face light up when I gave her a stuffed moose that kinda looked like Bulwinkle...I almost live for those moments. I love children. The shipment of homemade sleeping bags came with a bunch of women's clothing! Sarina is still going through them. But we need men's clothing very badly. We also need coats. When we started brunch today there were 30 people. More came and went over the course of the day. Mom made some kickin Chile we served over noodles..A little spicy for a few but with the now cold weather coming on they enjoyed it with jalapeno peppers and bread and butter. We also had some milk we gave out with the 4:30 meal. They had wonderful fresh donuts all day. You could say we spoil them as much as possible. I also gave out cheese crackers. I have a man whom donates a box of 36 paks once a week. They go first come first serve. He also donates cheese for the sandwiches. His wife is a Baptist minister. When we moved over from next door he made shelves for the clothing room and is going to remodel mom's kitchen with shelves also. the church he's goes to feeds Sunday mornings about a 100 people. A large Church downtown. There are some good people in town that do try and help. I gave out a box of various things that came in the mail. 20 pairs of socks, some razors 8 or 10 bars of soap three tooth brushes a few things. After I left today a box of some more needed medical stuff came. It makes me sad sometimes to see these things come because as the note said the Holy Spirit told him ( from NE ) what to send. That means I know what to look for as the Lord does not waste, and yes I am already dealing with colds, wounds, a broken foot, various pains, etc. Like I told the fellows when I rewrapped the guys broken foot someone ahs to do it. They say they thank the Lord for people like me. Funny I do not feel spherical in any way. Oh yes some hats and gloves also came today. This is a good start. I pray this keeps up. The money We got yesterday fixed the drive shaft and put gas in twice. Gas is so high..at $35 to $50 plus when I get gas then mom's van also we have to use on Friday's it adds up. Found out what the steering problem is. I need a power steering pump $35 ( we pray that's it and not the steering gear ) and the wobble when I put on the brakes I got a rotor needs replaced $45. Enough for now.....have a blessed week..No I am unsure whom will be on radio this week yet.... The FATHER bless thee and keep thee;

Please continue to hold up these works and pray about your part in helping them be fulfilled. We Thank everyone who has helped and we pray you all a very safe and Happy Hanukkah more on the Mission next update: 2004 WorldNetDaily.com Chanukah About 175 years before the birth of Jesus, the Syrian empire ruled over the land of Israel. The Syrian ruler, Antiochus IV, was a tyrant - a madman, a Hitler archetype. He sought to suppress all the Jewish laws. Thousands of Jews were killed. All Jewish worship was forbidden. The scrolls were confiscated and burned. Honoring the Sabbath, circumcision and the dietary laws were prohibited under penalty of death. Antiochus conspired to depose and later assassinate the righteous high priest, Yochanan. Antiochus' henchmen ordered 90-year-old rabbi Eliezer to eat pork as an example to his followers. He refused and was put to death. In a plot to undermine the strength of the Jewish family and morality, Antiochus decreed that any Jewish maiden who was to be married had to first spend the night with the local governor or commander. The Syrians, under the command of Holofernes, laid siege to the town of Bethulia. While the town elders discussed a plan to surrender when their food supply ran out, a young and beautiful widow, Yehudit, the daughter of Yochanan the high priest, told the people to maintain faith in their God. She told them she had a plan they would have to accept on faith. Yehudit took a large basket of cheese, bread and wine to Holofernes. She told the commander that, in exchange for mercy on her people, she would tell him how to capture the town. She explained that her people's faith in God remained strong, making the fight against them that much more difficult. However, she said, soon the supply of kosher food would be gone. When that occurred, the people would begin to eat the flesh of unclean animals thus provoking God's anger and causing the town to fall. She agreed to stay with Holofernes, returning to Bethulia each day to find out how food supplies were holding out. She gained the trust of the commander who was eager to spend time with the beautiful widow as well as to win the siege. After a few days, Yehudit told Holofernes that Bethulia was now out of food. He had only to wait a few more days for the Jews to begin eating the non-kosher animals. Holofernes invited her to come alone to his tent that night to celebrate. She agreed, inviting him to eat her salty goat-cheese. As he ate, he grew thirsty and Yehudit gave him the wine she had brought with her. While Yehudit pretended to eat and drink, Holofernes became drunk. Soon, he was in a deep sleep. Yehudit took Holofernes' sword and cut off his head. She and her maidservant put his head in a cloth and returned to Bethulia. Now was the time to attack the Syrians, she said. In disarray at finding their leader dead, the Jews won the battle. Defeats like this made Antiochus even more determined to exterminate the Jews, if necessary, to achieve victory. Hannah and her seven sons were brought before him because they refused to stop studying the Torah, keeping kosher and honoring the Sabbath. Antiochus demanded that they bow down to an idol before him. The eldest son stepped forward and said: "What do you wish from us? We are ready to die rather than transgress the laws of our fathers." Antiochus ordered him tortured. His tongue, hands and feet were cut off and he was placed in a cauldron of boiling water. Antiochus turned to the next son and demanded that he worship
the idol. The brother refused and was similarly tortured. Antiochus continued down the line and each brother held fast to
his faith and gave up his life until only Hannah and her youngest son remained. Antiochus called the child forward and begged him not to be a martyr for such a small thing as bowing before a statue. The king went so far as to promise him wealth beyond his dreams if he would obey. Hannah told her youngest child: "My son, I carried you for nine months, nourished you for two years, and have provided you with everything until now. Look upon the heaven and the earth - God is the Creator of it all. Do not fear this tormentor, but be worthy of being with your brothers." The boy refused to obey the king's commandment and was put to death. As her child lay dying, she cradled his body and asked God that she should be considered worthy to her children in the world to come. She fell to the floor and died. There were thousands of others who likewise sacrificed their lives as Antiochus' men went from town to town and from village to village to force the inhabitants to worship pagan gods. One day, the henchmen of Antiochus arrived in the village of Modin where Mattityahu, the old priest, lived. The Syrian officer built an altar in the marketplace of the village and demanded that Mattityahu offer sacrifices to the pagan gods.Mattityahu replied: "I, my sons and my brothers are determined to remain loyal to the covenant which our God made with our ancestors!" When an accommodating Jew approached the altar to offer a sacrifice, Mattityahu grabbed his sword and killed him, and his sons and friends took on the Syrians, killing many and chasing the rest away. Then they destroyed the altar. Mattityahu and his sons and friends fled to the hills of Judea. Many Jews joined them. They formed guerrilla armies and attacked the enemy. Before his death, Mattityahu called his sons together and urged them to continue to fight. In waging warfare, he said, their leader should be Yehuda the Strong. Yehuda was called "Maccabee." Antiochus sent his army to wipe out Yehuda and his followers, the Maccabees. Though greater in number and arms, the Syrians were defeated by the Maccabees. Antiochus sent out another,
bigger army. It, too, was defeated. Finally, he raised an army of 40,000 men to sweep into Judea for a final invasion.
When Yehuda heard of the coming invasion, he exclaimed: "Let us fight unto death in defense of our souls and our Temple!"
God gave the Maccabees their miraculous victory. When the Maccabees returned to Jerusalem to liberate it, they entered the Temple to clear it of the idols placed there by the Syrians. A new altar was built. The golden menorah had been stolen by the Syrians, so the Maccabees made one of cheaper metal. But when they went to light it, they found only a small amount of pure olive oil bearing the seal of the High Priest Yochanan. It was sufficient to light only for one day. By yet another miracle of God, though, it continued to burn for eight days, until the new oil was made available. It is this final miracle that Jews commemorate annually with the lighting of candles and the Chanukah celebration to this day. It's a commemoration that should be an inspiration to all freedom-loving, God-fearing people around the world. Happy Chanukah. November 27th passage answer Psalm 144:10-2110 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee. 11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power; 12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom. 13 Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. 14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. 15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. 16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. 18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19 He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. 20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy. 21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever. Find this Passage: Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth! In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant. Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah. Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled: But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness. Then shall the lambs feed after their manner, and the waste places of the fat ones shall strangers eat. Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope: That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it! Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him! WE LOVE YOU Mark 9:23,10:27
